REVIEW – DARK HEART OF MAGIC BY JENNIFER ESTEP

DARK HEART OF MAGIC
“Jennifer Estep is a genius!” –Simply Nerdy

Something Wicked This Way Comes . . .

As a thief, I stick to the shadows as much as possible. But when the head of the Sinclair Family picks me to compete in the Tournament of Blades, there’s no escaping the spotlight–or the danger.

Even though he’s my competition, Devon Sinclair thinks I have the best shot at winning what’s supposed to be a friendly contest. But when the competitors start having mysterious “accidents,” it looks like someone will do anything to win–no matter who they hurt.

As if I didn’t have enough to worry about, mobster Victor Draconi is plotting against Devon and the rest of my friends, and someone’s going around Cloudburst Falls murdering monsters. One thing’s for sure. Sometimes, humans can be more monstrous than anything else…

I was given a copy of this book by Netgalley for an honest review.

DARK HEART OF MAGICĀ is an exciting YA urban fantasy. I love the character of Lila! She is a kick-ass character, who knows what she needs to do and gets it done. All the characters are well-developed and the story line is also well-developed. Something or someone is spooking the tree trolls and are driving them into town. While trying to figure this out, Lila has been chosen by the Sinclair family to compete in the Tournament of Blades. While competing in the tournament, someone is sabotaging the tournament. Now, Lila has to find out who is doing this, even though she has an idea who is behind it. Lila will find out some truths about her past that she was wondering about. This is such a great novel, and I recommend it to everyone. I give DARK HEART OF MAGIC 5/5 STARS.
