Briley Reed never expected to be a vampire or thought she’d find
herself heading to Eerie, but a brutal attack changes everything. When a
mystery man sends her to Eerie to find Atticus, she realizes just how much
her life has changed.

But could it be for the better?

Atticus Maguire wants to be left alone. He’s had his heart broken and
he’s done with love. Then Briley shows up in his life and it’s
turned upside down. He wasn’t planning to fall in love, but the magic
never lies.

Right?

EXCERPT

Atticus stood on his front porch and stared out at the water. He’d
lived in Eerie his entire life and loved his place on the edge of the lake.
The waves calmed him. He could think here. Could let his magic languish. Not
be forced to use it or help someone who wasn’t interested in being
helped.

He could be the old man yelling at kids running on his lawn.

He snorted. He had a lawn, but it wasn’t much — mostly sand and
rocks with a little grass mixed in. Kids didn’t venture to his side of
the lake, so no one trespassed on his property.

He’d accepted that he’d be alone. Who wanted to be with someone
who manipulated magic? Who could read the future and the past, and could
animate the dead? No one he knew.

When he’d visited the bars, he’d been given a wide berth. Women
didn’t approach him. He shouldn’t be annoyed by the actions, but
he was. He didn’t want to be alone.

Who did?

But he couldn’t find anyone who wanted to be with a being imbued with
magic. His former fiancée couldn’t handle his power or his
unintended ability to read the future. He knew the moment he’d met her
that she’d leave him, but he’d fallen in love with her anyway.
He’d given his heart, knowing it’d get broken.

She’d been a fun, vibrant light in his life — until she decided he
wasn’t good enough. She hadn’t been thrilled with his abilities
or his decision to live on the lake. She wanted life and noise and someone
who couldn’t read the future in her eyes.

When she left, despite him knowing it would happen, he retreated into
himself.

He rested his hands on his hips and watched the water move. The ripples
lulled him. Nothing mattered right now. Just the water moving, the chirp of
the birds and the flecks of sunlight through the trees. The warmth of the
sun danced on his skin.

His thoughts turned to Lydia. She’d been the first woman he’d
wanted to live with. The one he’d thought he’d love forever.
He’d never been good with women. He tended to be too shy and
didn’t say much. Lydia had claimed his silence was cute. She liked
when he brooded because she never quite knew what he was thinking. Except
when she wanted to know what he had on his mind, and he didn’t say
anything. She wanted him to open up. To talk more. To be more social and
take her out.

He didn’t mind going out, but he couldn’t dance and his ability
to see the future tended to get him into trouble. Lydia didn’t want
him reading her mind and got angry when he clammed up. She’d chew him
out for not talking, then when he did talk and it wasn’t what she
wanted to hear, she chewed him out again.

His skin tingled. A vision formed in his mind. A woman approaching and his
brother warning her to find him. He frowned. Who was this woman, and why
would his brother appear in his vision? He tipped his head. Who was she? He
wasn’t sure. The vision wasn’t clear enough.

He glanced over his shoulder. The woman wasn’t even in Eerie, but he
felt her. Another vision formed in his mind. This time, the woman stood in
his living room and wore nothing.

A nude woman in his home.

What was he getting himself involved in?

He’d figure it out when she arrived. If he knew one thing more than
anything else, fighting the future wasn’t smart. The future would
happen no matter what he did.

Still, he wished he knew more about this person trying to locate him. She
might end up hating him. The nudity might be because she was getting
revenge… on him? Someone else?

The more he thought about this woman, the more the vision of her nude in
his living room came into focus. Slender, curly brown hair down to her
shoulders, wide eyes, blushing from her hairline to her chest, breasts just
right for his hands and curves to make his mouth water. He longed to touch
her. He hadn’t even met her yet, and she’d stirred his
magic.

He wondered what her kiss would taste like.

He shook his head. Her kiss! She might not even want to kiss him.

The water sloshed against the bank and tore his attention from the woman.
His woodland oasis would be invaded. Did he mind?

Not really.

He headed back to the house as a shiver ran the length of his spine. The
woman hadn’t reached Eerie, but she was on the outskirts. She also
needed his help.

He grabbed his keys, then tucked his phone into his front pocket. Once he
locked up the cabin, he rushed out to his motorcycle. He sped out of the
shed toward the gravel path, then the road. Living on the far side of the
lake meant he’d waste precious minutes rounding the body of water to
get to her, but his magic swore she was closer than he’d
thought.

Atticus sped down the back road to the edge of town. Her car wasn’t
broken down, but she had a follower. He couldn’t see the person in the
truck tailing her. Didn’t matter. He’d use a cloaking spell to
hide her from the other driver. He spotted her little car, and his heart
skipped a beat. He’d never met her, but he had a connection to
her.

He pulled out onto the main road between her and the truck, blocking the
following vehicle from getting to her. At the same time, he spoke the words
to the spell and enveloped her in the invisible cloak. She’d never
know he was behind her, but she would know the truck was gone.

Now he could deal with the truck.

“Must be a cold day in hell. You haven’t come here alone in ages.
Losing your touch or what?”

Since Nolan had been asked to keep an eye on the club, and on the
devilishly handsome man behind the bar, he almost never visited without
someone to make his evening more exciting. Giving Omen’s owner, Peris, a
long, appraising look, Nolan’s cock twitched in regret. He’d been too busy
lately.

“You asking to be touched? ‘Cause I can do that, and make you like
it.” Nolan sat on his normal stool at the end of the long, shiny wooden
bar, and eyed too many empty tables. “Where is everyone?”

“Resting up from their wicked weekend. And you wouldn’t know what to
do with that cold dick up this hot ass.”

The sound of the swinging door distracted them both.

God damn, the woman was striking. Tall, curvaceous, with dark brown hair to
her ass. An ass that cried out to be fucked. Christ. Nolan’s cock came
alive. So did every other part of his body, which took a lot of doing,
considering he’d been dead too many years to count.

Peris chuckled from the other side of the counter, giving his balls a
noticeable squeeze. “Looks like a live one to me. I might make a play
for her myself.”

“Not unless you’re looking forward to visiting relatives.” Peris
had connections to the hierarchy below, but with the dark one’s permission,
Nolan would send the young man to Hell in a heartbeat.

Nolan had been called lots of things — dead, undead, bloodsucker,
motherfucker — and he lived up to every one of them. He was a Slayer, and
he was the best. “Get the lady a beer. Let’s see what she does with
it.”

Watching the woman make her way to the bar, he took a deep breath. Human.
Omen’s wasn’t a place humans popped into often, and for good reason. The
cloying feeling of imminent danger was prevalent, a vibe even the shallowest
human sensed the minute they entered the establishment.

This one ignored it, so she must be looking for something. Or someone. The
blood pulsing through her gorgeous body would soon be running through his
veins. Wouldn’t kill her. Vamps didn’t do that anymore. Okay, some did, but
they were the ones he took out of play, and he enjoyed every minute of
it.

She slid onto a stool at the opposite end of the bar, and it felt like
she’d plopped into his lap. Cum slipped from the slit on his dick, which
jerked violently inside his designer slacks. He reached up to loosen a
button or two at the collar of the stark white silk shirt he wore. Getting
into her panties, if she wore any, was going to be pure joy. After fucking
her senseless, he’d taste her — just a little bit if she was worth another
ride. If not, he’d have a full meal before sending her home.

Peris delivered a cold brew and a glass and turned away, pretending to
straighten the bottles of liquor on display. Nolan, adjusting his heightened
vision, gazed right into her eyes when she looked his way. One hazel, one
brown — not something he saw often. Tipping the bottle toward him, she
smiled and nodded before putting it to her lips. No glass! Excellent. A cock
sucker, and he’d bet every year he had lived she was a good one. When her
pink tongue darted through painted red lips, wrapped around the top of the
bottle and licked it clean, he made his move.

Easing into her mind, he sifted through all the day’s clutter. Such tiny
panties. With a groan that lodged in his throat, he backed out, sniffing at
the air. Sweet. What he’d unearthed in her mind made his dead heart beat
like a drum. Fantasies should be played out, and he intended to help with
hers.

Dr. Lauren Marsh, a pregnant vampire, seeks therapy to overcome a recent trauma, but is her creepy doctor interested in more than her well-being? Will evil intercede, dashing the promise of a Christmas baby?

Excerpt

What is stirring in that conniving mind of yours?” Ras squinted at his assistant.

Hmm. I’m thinkin’. Your life mate’s supposed to be a virgin.”

True, but I gave up on that notion long ago. She is also supposed to be a born vampire, not made.”

So, if you could arrange for the mother to go into labor, we could disappear with her child. What’s time to you? The baby’d grow up soon enough. You’d have a virgin bride and a born vampire.”

Ras tapped an index finger to his lips. “Brilliant idea—so glad I thought of it.”

Teensy rolled her black eyes. “I’ll get to work. Let’s see, what prescriptions will we need? Pitocin to start her labor and morphine to knock her out? Of course, all this hinges on the child being a girl.”

I’ll write the prescription for the meds.” Before Ras passed the smelling salts under Lauren’s nose, he eased his hand under her pink sweatshirt and placed his palm on her round belly. The baby pushed against his hand, and he closed his eyes, envisioning the tiny bundle in her mother’s womb. Ras smiled broadly. “She has violet eyes.”

Night's Kiss cover

Night's Kiss teaser 1

SYNOPSIS

As a human who hunts vampires, I risk death each night I take to the streets. Bloodsuckers are stupidly fast. I have only my wits, my practice, and my weapons.

Oh yeah, and my rage.

Vampires killed my parents before my eyes when I was young. My revenge? I’ll destroy every last one of the evil bastards, starting with their king.

But only one man can help me locate the king. Achingly tall, dark, and too-sexy-for-his-own-good, Ryker is gorgeous enough to be the vamp king himself. But the devilish arch to his black eyebrow, his white, unfangy grin, and rocking the daytime are good clues that he’s human.

We’ll have to work together as uneasy allies if I hope to get my final revenge on the king—only now it seems evil monsters are also after our prey, and they’ll stop at nothing to see us all dead. And why are they having so much trouble finding the king?

Each book in the Ancients series is STANDALONE:
* Night’s Caress
* Night’s Kiss

Night's Kiss teaser 2

EXCERPT

Ryker slashed at the vamp the same moment I’d stabbed. We hit blades with a force that made my teeth jar together.

“Don’t get in my way!” We yelled it at each other.

The gold-bar monster grabbed my throat. I froze, breath rasping in my trachea. His hand clamped my neck armor, so I wasn’t immediately dead, but once he peeled it away, my tasty carotid was his for the taking.

Before he could, Ryker slashed the vamp’s forearm, severing everything the monster needed to hold me. Clawed fingers fell from my neck. Ryker was already attacking another monster with precise, sweeping cuts of my talwar.

Graceful, deadly. His skill a thing of beauty. My breath stopped the barest instant.

“You may know vampires,” he said between slashes. “I know the king. If we work together…”

Together. I got an unwanted burst of pleasure at that.

“I lead,” he finished.

“You?” Pleasure exploded into annoyance. I slapped my sword Joyce into her sheath, freeing up my hands for the test tube of ruby vamp-dissolving serum. I popped out the cork. “How much vampire tracking have you done?”

Cut arm dangling, Mr. Gold-Bar gave up subtle and lunged at me fangs first. Feinting back, I tossed a couple drops of serum into his terrifying maw. They splashed in.

Gold-bar swallowed in surprise. Ryker raised a questioning brow an instant before he got distracted by a beefy vampire’s attack. I capped the tube, hoping the stuff did its thing even if the vampire wasn’t “mostly dead.”

The gold-bar sucker swallowed again—and clapped his good arm over his midsection. Alexis’s serum was evidently going to give him a good case of indigestion.

“The king isn’t your average vampire.” Ryker wrenched on the talwar, which he’d managed to get stuck in the beefy sucker’s throat. “A little help here?” Mr. I-Lead do-si-doed with the vamp, the blade not moving an inch. With a roar, the vampire raised claws to strike.

“Oh, now you need me.” I was already in motion to help him, drawing Joyce.

A pair of vampires lunged for me—or where I’d been. They smacked behind me like a couple of Stooges.

“I don’t need anyone.” Ryker snaked a long arm out the moment I was within reach—and snatched a stake from my fringe. “But I could use this.”

I jerked back. “That won’t do you any good!” Again, the sudden change twisted up the attacking pair, who bonked heads and reeled around for a moment. “Not without a sledgehammer to pound it through supernaturally hard bone.”

“Preternatural.” Ryker reared back then rammed the stake into the beefy monster’s breast, nearly to the hilt.

“What…?”

The vamp’s eyes went wide. I’m sure mine were as round. Ryker wasn’t simply bench-press strong, he was warhead strong. My lips parted as a delicious heat plumed inside me.

Doused when he said, “Their strength is preternatural. Not supernatural.”

“Do you have to work hard to be this annoying?”

He twinkled a smile at me. “Just naturally talented.”

Despite myself, a laugh bubbled up. I turned away before he could see it.

BOOK DESCRIPTION COURTESY OF AMAZON

I was given a copy of this book by Netgalley for an honest review.

I have really enjoyed this series and the way Scarlett has evolved. The characters and story line are well-developed. In Las Vegas, Vampires are going missing and Scarlett is sent to find out what is happening. Things are not always as they seem with the Holmwood’s new show.Vampires are disappearing after attending the show. Also, while investigating, she finds out that vampire hunters have come to Vegas. She must navigate the nightlife while not getting herself killed in the process. I recommend this book and series to everyone. I give Blood Gamble (Disrupted Magic) 5/5 stars.
