UNRAVELED BLOG TOUR
What could go wrong when you’re trying to unravel a decades-old conspiracy? As the current queen of the Ashland underworld, you would think that I, Gin Blanco, would know all about some secret society controlling things from behind the scenes. I might be the Spider, the city’s most fearsome assassin, but all my Ice and Stone elemental magic hasn’t done me a lick of good in learning more about “the Circle”. Despite my continued investigations, the trail’s gone as cold as the coming winter. So when Finnegan Lane, my foster brother, gets word of a surprising inheritance, we figure why not skip town for someplace less dangerous for a few days? That place: Bullet Pointe, a fancy hotel resort complex plus Old West theme park that Finn now owns lock, stock, and barrel. At first, all the struttin’ cowboys and sassy saloon girls are just hokey fun. But add in some shady coincidences and Circle assassins lurking all around, and vacationing becomes wilder—and deadlier—than any of us expected.Good thing this assassin brought plenty of knives to the gunfight…

UNRAVELED –
Since Fedora was already past the gate, I didn’t have time to ease out of the van, sneak through the shadows, and stab the giants in the back the way I normally would have.
Thus I kicked my door open, barreled out of the vehicle, and started running down the street toward the SUV.
“Gin! Wait!” Phillip shouted, scrambling to get out and follow me.
But I needed to get to the man in the mansion before Fedora did, so I tuned him out. The giants whirled around at the sound of Phillip’s voice and spotted me racing toward them. They cursed, pulled guns out from underneath their trench coats, and snapped up the weapons.
Pfft! Pfft! Pfft!
I zigzagged, and the first round of bullets went wide. But when the giants paused to take more careful aim, I reached for my Stone magic and hardened my skin into an impenetrable shell.
Pfft! Pfft! Pfft!
The second round of bullets also went wide. The giants had come prepared, and the silencers on the ends of their weapons muffled the sounds of the shots. No lights snapped on inside the neighboring mansions. They wanted to keep this quiet, well, so did I.
Pfft! Pfft! Pfft!
Two of the bullets went wide, but the third punched into my right shoulder, spinning me around. Still, thanks to my magic, it didn’t blast through me the way it would have otherwise. I skidded on the ice coating the street, but I managed to regain my balance and charge forward again.
REVIEW
I was given a copy of this book by Netgalley for an honest review.
Unraveled (Elemental Assassin) is a roller coaster of a ride! The characters and story line is very well-developed. The Scooby gang, Gin, Fin, Owen, and Bria, go to check out the inheritance that his mother supposedly left him. Fin apparently inherited an Old West Theme Park. Now can you picture Gin in an Old West Theme Park? Me either! When they get there, Gin thinks she sees a member of the Circle. Could the Theme Park be a front for the Circle? As you know, every time Gin and the gang plan a vacation, things don’t always work out. Gin always ends up with bodies piling up everywhere she goes. This is no different. This book has all of Gin’s sass, grit, and snarkyness. If you have not read this series I highly recommend it. I recommend this book to everyone. I give UNRAVELED 5/5 STARS.

Blood of the Earth (A Soulwood Novel) is a great start to a new series! This is a spin-off of the Jane Yellowrock series. I have not read a book by Faith Hunter that I did not like. I don’t think she could write a bad novel! Rick LaFleur shows up on Nell’s doorstep per Jane’s referral. His clues to the where about of the Nashville Blood Master. It has led him to the cult that Nell had once belonged to not far from her property that she lives at. I love the characters in this book, and seeing Lafleur and the others that are with him. When I started this book, I could not put it down. If you have not enjoyed a Faith Hunter book, I urge you to go out and get your copy today. You will not be disappointed. I give BLOOD OF THE EARTH 5/5 STARS.

Silently, I turned and walked out onto the front porch again, feeling like I was running away, and maybe I was, maybe that was what I did, run away. The swing hung on chains, on the south side of the porch, facing north, into the drive and the hills and also angled toward the front door, which meant I couldn’t turn my back on the house and show with my body language that I wanted to be left alone, but I sat on it anyway, pushing off with a toe. When I took a breath, the air chilled my throat all the way down, and my lungs ached with the cold. Come morning, the trees would have started to turn. In a week, if the weather held, we’d have fall colors. If it turned out that the church was involved, and if I went against them, in a week, I might be in the new punishment house. I might never see my trees again. I might be dead.
Any excitement I had felt at having a real job, working with a team to a good end, like crime fighters did on a few shows I had watched, shriveled up and died at the thought. But then I thought about a young girl, kidnapped and possibly treated like God’s Cloud did. Culture shock—the words Tandy had used. What a girl would go through if she refused to do whatever her kidnappers wanted would be so much worse than just culture shock.
