BLOG TOUR- CURSE ON THE LAND

EXCERPT
After shaking the blanket open and snapping it to the ground, I sat in the middle of it with my knees crossed and the notebook and Psymeter2.0 in front of me. I synched the device to my cell and sent the recordings to U-18 HQ. I once again noted the date, time, and GPS location on the pad. It looked like I was taking scientific readings. It was utterly a cheat. I studied the land around me, noted a wildlife cam pointed at the pond, the remains of the kudzu-buried, tumbledown buildings on one edge of the property, and spotted the foundations of an old house near them in the pines across the pond. The brick showed signs of a long-ago fire. To my right, was a better-kept lean-to filled with farm equipment, a small tractor and gardening tools, all looking functional and which were secured with massive chains.

Placing my palm on the ground, I took a cleansing breath, blew it out, and relaxed.

Instantly I could tell that something wasn’t right, and in a way I had no immediate name for. The ground was . . . maybe sick, infested with something, some kind of parasite or illness. The earth beneath my palm felt cold, icy, not to the touch, but to the spirit, which wasn’t something I could easily explain to other people. It felt sick and murky and restless. As if it was dying, dying in pain. Alone and afraid.

I sent a soothing pulse of calm into the land, searching for the cause of the illness. Reaching down into the earth. I found the water source for the pond, an underground, degraded concrete pipe that ran along the low hill about halfway to the crest. The pipe system capped a spring there and collected the water, sending it down, through the pipe and into the pond for collection, probably for former use by farm animals. It was a slow trickle of water, and ran off on the far side, through another, smaller pipe, and into a gully. I dove deeper into the land. Below the surface of the hill, near the springhead, was an up-thrusting slab of granite angled toward the sky, driven up and broken during some unimaginable earthquake in the far past. It was now shored in place by accumulated layers of shattered rock and compacted soil all around the slab, softening its contours, creating the hillock.

REVIEW

I was given a copy of this book by Netgalley for an honest review.

Curse on the Land (A Soulwood Novel) is phenomenal!! Nell has grown some since the last book. Things have gotten weird. They are called out when a group of ducks are found swimming in a constant circle and others are coming up dead. Nell’s power is getting stronger and she has to learn to use it as she goes along, but when a curse is put on the land, she better learn fast. With the full moon coming up in a few days, things will start to get hairy and she might be a few people short on the case. I loved the ending with Rick, and that is all I will say about it. I love Faith’s writing and the way she presents Nell’s world. The world building is flawless. I cannot wait to see what she has in store for Nell and the gang next. If you have not picked up a Faith Hunter book, then you don’t know what you are missing. Go out and get your copy today!! I loved this book and give  CURSE ON THE LAND 5/5 STARS.

renegade dragon - cover
NOTHING HOTTER THAN DRAGON’S FIRE

When her best friend disappears, bio-engineering student Eris Jones embarks on the quest of her life. Her search leads to a secluded estate where she experiences visions of a powerful, winged creature who’s transformed into a tall, dangerously sexy man at her touch. But the feel of his rock-hard abs and lean, sinewy arms tells Eris this is no dream . . . it’s real.

Niko Drakon is dangerous and he knows it. When the call to mate is too strong, he has no choice but to lock himself away in his basement saferoom. Otherwise, people get hurt. The moment Eris walks into his home, nothing can keep him from claiming her. However, she could also be the key to bringing down the dragons’ greatest enemy, which leaves Niko with a devastating choice: keep Eris for himself or lose her to the cause he’s served for most of his life . . .
25,000 words.

Renegade Dragon (Dragon Heat Book 4) is a roller coaster of a ride! The story line and character development are well-developed. Eris is looking for her best friend who went missing. The bread crumbs of information leads her to an estate that is secluded from anyone else. Nikos is locked away to protect himself during his mating heat. He watches Eris on the security camera as she breaks into the house. When she eats a golden apple from the sacred tree, he must kill her. When he is standing in front of her he notices that she is his mate. If you have not read any of the books in this series, I would recommend starting with the first book so you will not be lost. On that note, I loved the book and give RENEGADE DRAGON 5/5 STARS.

Legacy of the Demon: Demon Novels, Book Eight (Kara Gillian) is the best book yet, in this series. Kara and everyone are now dealing with the fallout of what happened with the last book. Now the world has demons, strange plants, and mutated animals loose in the world. She has to find a way to close the rifts safely and find Jill’s daughter Ashava and Zack. The book starts of with a lot of action, Kara and a group of specialists are trying to catch a demon who has come thru one of the rifts. They also have to close the rift safely to prevent the demons from coming thru that rift. There is practically non-stop action in this book. I could not put it down. I had to know what was going to happen next. I have fallen in love with these characters and this world that Diana Rowland has created. The world building has been phenomenal! if you have not started this series, I urge you to run out and get it. Diana Rowland has not disappointed  me yet.  I give LEGACY OF THE DEMON 5/5 STARS.
