Episode Four Excerpt:
“Tonight is about us, no one else, and that’s the way I want it to stay. No more interruptions,” Derek said.
I took a deep breath and reached for my wine. I wasn’t going to let my brain jump to conclusions. This weekend was about us. Not Taylor. Not Reed. “I agree.”
He leaned into the table, his hand moving higher up my leg. “Kiss me.”
We weren’t in a back booth, and this restaurant wasn’t nearly as private as The Hole. There were more servers, a more open floor plan, many other tables close by. What he was asking for was much more than the peck I had given him before I’d gone to the bathroom. “Those fingers,” I said, placing my hand on top of them, “aren’t planning on going any higher, are they?”
He licked his bottom lip, teasing me with just the swipe of his tongue and the whiskers that surrounded it. “They weren’t, no. But now that I know it’s on your mind, I’m not sure I’ll be able to stop them.”
Derek Block seeks revenge. Frankie Jordan seeks professional dominance. He wants her, she wants him. Lines that can’t cross begin to blur. Things start heating up as real estate gets real… This is episode one of the five-episode novella series Timber Towers.
I was given a copy of this book by the Author for an honest review.
UNBLOCKED is a great start to this series. It is a novella at 130 pages, but it packs a lot in those pages. Derek Block is a developer who is renovating 181 units. He needs an Agent to help him sell the units. Frankie Jordan is just the Agent he needs to sell the units, but he needs her for a lot more than that. He has to try to keep his hands off her until the last unit is sold. He does not sleep with his employees, and this will be a test of will power. Frankie loves her job and really wants to work with Derek in selling these units, but will her fantasies get in the way. I loved this book and the story line and characters were well-developed. I cannot wait to see what Marni Mann has in store for us next. I give UNBLOCKED 5/5 STARS. I recommend this book for everyone.
“Why don’t you come in?”
I was startled again by the sound of him, of his deep, alluring tone. I didn’t realize I was still hovering in the doorway. Closing most of the gap between us, I moved to one of the chairs.
I hooked my bag onto the back of it, his fingers slicing through the air as they reached for mine.
“Call me Derek.” He enclosed my hand with a pressing strength that I assumed was lightened for my benefit.
Though his stare remained on my face, I wasn’t able to keep mine on his. I needed a break, a second to get myself under control.
I had obviously lost that, though I didn’t understand why. Polished men were all I knew, all I had ever been attracted to: groomed and well-dressed, pretty and sharp, even cocky and somewhat selfish. They were certainly never burly or animalistic like Derek. So why was he having this kind of physical effect on me?
