Early Reviews for Besting the Billionaire:

This book is a must read, without a doubt. It’s a romantic suspense with two strong lead, some very interesting supporting characters and I loved the plot. The twists you won’t see coming and dang I was just sure I knew who was behind some of the things and I was flat out wrong. You really don’t want to miss this book! The cover is hot but doesn’t hold a candle to the flames in this amazing story! –Ayekah@Goodreads

This was just such an intense read, so powerful and gripping. You do not want either character to lose. I loved how their story played out, finding out who was behind everything, and the epilogue (I totally loved) was sheer perfection. –Lori@Goodreads

Now this is how to write a category romance that just leaps of the page. I loved this, it was funny, smokin’ hot, had a bit of suspense and kept me reading waaay into the small hours of the night. –Alison@Goodreads

This is the first book I’ve read from Alison Aimes and I am hooked. . . . It exceeded my expectations, it had a little bit of everything romance, comedy, steamy scenes and mystery. It was no wonder I couldn’t seem to put this book down. –Ofelia@Goodreads

Besting the Billionaire teaser 3

Exclusive Excerpt:

His adversary spoke through gritted teeth. “I’m not afraid of you.”

Unwelcome lust reared its head, raked its nails across his skin, and clawed at his chest and back. Just the way he wanted this woman touching him.

He shook his head to expel the image. “You should be.”

“Yesterday, you intruded where you didn’t belong. I returned the favor. We’re even.”

Mishka, I don’t do even.” He stepped closer. “I don’t do ties. I don’t give out medals for participating. I’m in this to win.”

“I wouldn’t order new office furniture yet.” Her hold on her briefcase had gone knuckle-white. “I’ve asked to speak to the board as well. It’s going to be amazing.”

“I would expect no less.”

“Really?” Cynicism dripped from every syllable.

“Really.”

“What about the whole nails and spa thing?”

“I’m a quick study. Able to admit a mistake when I make one.”

“What are you up to?” Her eyes narrowed. “Is this some sort of trick negotiating tactic?”

“I’m a jerk, yes, but I’m the brutally truthful kind. I’m willing to admit you’re turning out to be a more impressive adversary than I initially imagined.”

“I…” She swallowed hard, that kitten tongue darting out to lick those lips, and for the first time, he saw a flash of vulnerability in her gorgeous eyes. It made his chest go tight. Because in that small, revealing gesture it became clear that the always cool, classy, and poised Ms. Bennett was far less confident than she appeared. Worse, it mattered to her what others thought. A very dangerous weakness to have in their line of work.

So why was he thinking of ways to toughen her up rather than exploiting it?

“I appreciate you saying that.” She cleared her throat, her gaze flickering away.

Ah, hell. The urge to haul her close and murmur God knows what in her ear until that vulnerable look went away surged through his blood with painful intensity.

“This thing between us is going to be a problem.” The words came out sharper than intended.

Her spine snapped straight, that soft look disappearing fast. “There is no thing between us.”

I try to make a quiet entrance and make my way to my desk without anyone noticing Milo, but apparently my dog has other plans. He barks as soon as his beady little eyes focuses on a stranger and everyone looks over to me.

“Oh my goodness, a puppy!” Shayla squeals as she jumps from her chair and dashes over to me. “It’s so precious!”

“Can I hold it?” Carrie Jo asks, holding her hands out. I place Milo in her arms and watch as he licks her face and barks, his tiny tail wagging. “I wish I could take this cute little thing home with me! What’s its name?”

“His name is Milo,” I say as Carrie Jo passes him to Shayla. Leo and Caesar walk over.

“What’s all the fuss—OH SWEET JESUS, IT’S A PUPPY! I NEED THE PUPPY!” Leo exclaims and nearly snatches Milo from Shayla.

“Hey! I wasn’t done cuddling him!” she complains. Leo holds Milo close to his chest and scratches him behind the ears.

“Isn’t he the cutest little thing!” he says. “If I had a dog this small, I would dress it in the cutest little doggy fashion. He would be the most fashionable dog on the block.”

“I’m sure,” I say and giggle.

A throat clears behind us. “Why is everyone standing in the middle of the floor and not preparing for work?” Free Willy barks. I roll my eyes. It seems like baby Jesus is taking a little longer than I’d like in making her fall in to a sewer drain and disappearing.

Milo barks and growls, squirming in Leo’s arms. I take him back and scratch him behind the ears to calm him as Madicunt walks over to us. I know, Milo. I don’t like her either, the cunt.

“You brought a dog here?” she asks. I fight the urge to roll my eyes again. Well, yes, Captain Obvious. I think the furry animal in my arms would classify as a dog. When I don’t answer, she scoffs. “Last I checked, this isn’t a doggy daycare.”

And last time I checked, this isn’t SeaWorld, yet here she is.

“I have Gary’s permission and that’s the only person’s opinion I care about in regards to my dog,” I answer.

“He’s cute and all, but why is he here?” Caesar asks, scratching under Milo’s neck.

“Yeah, Blake, why is he here?” Madicunt repeats, standing next to Shayla and folding her arms across her chest. I almost want to slap the smirk that’s settled on her lips, but I have something that’ll do the trick.

“Well if you must know, Silas and I have something to work on this evening and there’s no telling when I’ll get back home,” I say, gauging Madame Cunt’s face. “I don’t want to leave my helpless little puppy all alone for hours when I could be gone all night. What kind of puppy mom would I be to do such a thing?”

“A project, eh?” Caesar asks and chuckles. “Is that what you kids are calling dates now?”

Before I could answer, Gary walks into the work space and claps his hand. “Okay, guys, everyone get to work,” he says and points to me. “I told you not to let that puppy be a distraction.”

“He won’t be. I promise!” I say and scurry to my desk.

Madicunt stomps off to her desk and glares at me from across the room. I bet that pea-sized brain of hers is probably churning with all kinds of thoughts as she tries to figure out what Silas and I are going to be doing. Wouldn’t be surprised if she even questions him about it. She’s such a nark.

About Hide and Seek:

When Graham Cole disappears no one has a clue as to how or why. His boat, Sail Away, was found drifting five miles out with no one on board or a sign that anyone had been there. The local police as well as the county sheriff are investigating but so far they have come up empty.

His disappearance, however, comes right on the heels of the death of his vice president for corporate finance. Everyone’s radar is vibrating.

Despite their fractured relationship, his daughter, Devon puts her life in Tampa on temporary hold and heads to Arrowhead Bay. Then, on her way to town to meet with Police Chief Sheridan March, she is run off the road, her windows smashed, and she is threatened. Only the unexpected arrival of Vigilance agent Logan Malik prevents anything further.

With her life in possible danger until this riddle is solved, Vigilance assigns Logan to be her bodyguard. Devon has barely caught her breath when executives from Cole International show up and question her. Both she and Logan feel there is more to their questions than just worry about the effect on Cole International. Then the feds show up to tell her they are investigating several of her father’s companies. They suspect him of laundering money for drug cartels.

Being together twenty-four seven ignites the sparks sizzling between Logan and Devon, and although it goes against his personal rules, they become intimate with each other and discover growing feelings. As they all move closer to the reason for Graham’s disappearance, they are shocked to discover that yes, Graham Cole is alive and hiding from the people he owes and two, he has been laundering drug money through some of the Cole International companies with the assistance of one of his top executives. Although both have been skimming, Graham has disappeared with a giant chunk of money and the exec is hung out to dry. Both entities are determined to find him.

When Devon is snatched at the bank practically from under Logan’s nose he is beside himself. The kidnappers will exchange her for either her father’s whereabouts or his records and money.

Exclusive Excerpt:

Logan could barely keep up with Devyn as she raced into the garage and got into his truck. He had a feeling that if he hadn’t punched the button to open the garage door she’d have insisted he just drive through it.

“Hurry,” she urged, hands clasped tightly in her lap.

Logan burned rubber backing out of the garage and heading down the driveway. Despite Devyn’s urging he took care to look both ways and scope out the surrounding area as he reached the road. And a damn good thing, he thought as he spotted a black SUV almost hidden in the trees across the road. When it pulled out behind them he grabbed his gun from his waist and pushed Devyn’s head down.

“Stay like that and don’t move under any circumstance.”

“What’s happening? What—”

“Trouble. Just do me a favor and hang tight. Please.”

He had to give her credit. She shut up and bent way down, just as he’d told her to do, even though he could feel the fear and anger vibrating from her. They hadn’t gone fifty yards before something cracked against the rear of the truck cab, and he knew damn well it was a bullet. Last year he’d protected a very high profile oilman whose life had been threatened. He’d taken his truck to Tactical Armoring Corporation in San Antonio and had it fixed up inside and out. Now he had bulletproof tires, and a vehicle reinforced against everything up to and including armor-piercing rifles.

He pressed harder on the accelerator, keeping one eye on the road and the other on the side view mirror. If they could make it to the end of the road and take the turn to the marina, he figured they’d be okay because then they’d be in traffic. He hoped these idiots weren’t stupid enough to engage in a firefight with a bunch of other people around.

A heavy thud sounded against the back of the cab and Logan knew from the sound it was an armor-piercing bullet. Whoever these guys were, they came well equipped.

He watched the speedometer creep up to eighty, then ninety, then to a hundred. He was sure the men behind them wanted to pull up alongside and try for the windows but he kept ahead of him with his powerful engine. They were almost to the end of Seacliff Road.

“Hang on. Brace yourself.”

He wrenched the wheel around, skidding into the turn and then they were on the busy road to the marina. Traffic forced him to slow down and when he looked in his mirror he saw the other vehicle had turned off the other way. Smart. They didn’t want people around for what they had to do. He had to tell Avery so they could revisit the security needs. A high-end system might not be enough.

He had to give Devyn a lot of credit. When the SUV pulled out behind them she hadn’t freaked, or panicked or done anything he might have expected. She just did what he told her and left him to take care of business. He was afraid that wouldn’t work at the marina.

Someone Like You cover

Title: Someone Like You
Author: Brittney Sahin
(Sub)genre: Contemporary

About Someone Like You:

He was a nameless guy in a bar–a man Grace couldn’t get out of her head…

A week later, she came home to find him sweaty and shirtless with a tape measure in hand, remodeling her loft. As a Parker-King, she’s not allowed to want someone like Noah Dalton. She’s sick of her life, though. Sick of the rules of being a Parker-King. She wants something more, even if it isn’t forever. Somewhere in history there was that one time where hot, no-strings-attached sex didn’t end badly, right? Finding comfort in the arms of a former SEAL is easy, not falling for one . . . not so much.

Noah left the military and moved to New York for one reason: his daughter. Not for some uptight businesswoman–a Manhattan elitist. So when Grace offers him the kind of relationship that no hot-blooded man can turn down, he should say no. And when her seemingly put-together life spins out of control, and his instincts to protect and save kick in, he should turn away. But he doesn’t.

Can two people from different worlds really live in the moment, knowing they’re on borrowed time, or is someone bound to get hurt?

Exclusive Excerpt:

“Sorry about him. I hope he didn’t say anything offensive.”

“Nothing I haven’t heard before,” she says while glancing over her shoulder at me for a fleeting moment.

“Right. Well, can I buy you a drink to make up for it?” I have no clue why I’m still standing here, but damned if I can get myself to move.

“Ohhh, I get it.” She slips her hand free from her glass and faces me. “Is this some party trick of yours? One of you approaches and acts like an ass and the other guy steps in for the rescue? It’s kind of a tired routine, don’t you think?”

Her pale eyes draw me in before my attention dips down to her lips. No lipstick or gloss. Just full, natural lips. Lips I suddenly want to pull between my teeth to see if she tastes as good as she smells.

This is new for me. This feeling of being drawn to another woman. Even after almost a year of separation, I can’t help but notice the tinge of guilt coiling inside me over being attracted to another woman. Sure, I had those random rebound hookups, but those were out of anger.

“No, it’s not a routine,” I say.

“Well, you’re not my type.” Her eyes wander to my hand, which is pressed to the counter at my side.

“And what’s your type?” I look at her. “Some guy in Armani with a money clip packed with more bills than I have in my bank account?”

Shit. Cindy’s in my head and this woman is fast becoming my target, someone I suddenly want to hate.

Although Miss Fourth of July looks nothing like my ex, she certainly reeks of money. Her clothes probably cost more than my rent at the docks. Not that I’m paying that much thanks to a friend.

But the huge Prada bag on the bar stool next to her could buy my meals for a month. And the bag is another reminder of Cindy, because the only reason why I know it’s Prada is because Cindy’s mom bought her a similar purse on our ten-year anniversary—as if that wasn’t enough to make me feel like shit. Yes, thank you, mother-in-law, for outdoing me about ten times over on my goddamn anniversary.

The woman stares at me with parted lips, not saying anything, and I get the feeling that isn’t the norm for her. There’s a slight bit of red pulling at her cheeks when she finds my eyes again.

“Well, I hate to break it to you, lady, but you’re not exactly my type either.” Okay, so I don’t even know what my type is anymore, but I’m not in the right state of mind to find out.

“Ah. You really are clever, aren’t you?” The woman’s smiling now. Her white teeth tease between her lips, but it’s the sexy way her eyes and nose smile too that has me swallowing.

“Oh yeah? How so?” I place a hand on my chest, forgetting Cindy for the moment. Hell, the way this woman is looking at me right now, I can barely remember my own name.

“You’re trying to make me want what I can’t have. You, in this case.”

I didn’t expect that. Women don’t talk like this where I grew up, but I guess New York is a whole other ball game.

“Oh really?” I’m keeping up this charade longer than I have any business to. “So you have everything you want in life, huh?”

She wets her lips briefly. “I do, in fact.” Her eyes drift away from mine, an attempt to hide a lie.

I step closer and bend my neck a little so our eyes meet again. “You sure about that?”

She sucks in a noticeable breath, and when I realize I have her roped in—right the hell where any man would want a woman—I back up and turn away. Because I know a woman like her can be dangerous, and right now, I have one person I need to focus on.

WINNER TAKES ALL excerpt #1

The parking lot was almost empty as Blake left the field-house after the team’s win. He strolled toward his truck, keys dangling from one hand and his gym bag in the other. As he approached, he noticed a figure leaning against the driver’s side door.

A petite, luscious figure in a pair of tight jeans and a Blanco Valley High hooded-sweatshirt.

Just the sight of Annabelle turned his body on high alert. Over the past week, Blake hadn’t been able to get their kiss out of his mind. Not only the feel of her lips pressed to his, but how perfectly her body fit with his. Each one of her curves had molded seamlessly against his harder and bigger one, as though they were two pieces of the same puzzle.

And look at him with all the lame metaphors.

Blake approached the truck, twirling his keys around in his hand. Because if he didn’t keep them busy, he’d yank her away from the door and kiss her again.

“Hi,” she greeted when he stopped in front of her.

He tossed his bag in the bed of the truck. “Hey,” he replied. “You’re here awfully late.”

“I wanted to hang around and congratulate some of the kids. You guys played a good game tonight,” she told him.

“Thanks.” And why did her praise have to mean so much to him? The parents and the school district was what mattered. Not some hazel-eyed opinionated goddess.

Annabelle scraped the toe of her tennis shoe along the ground. And for some reason Blake found the movement endearing.

He was turning into such a pussy.

“Blake,” she said on a sigh. She pushed away from the truck and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “I’m sorry,” she told him. “About before.”

“For what?” he wanted to know. “The kiss or the apology?”

She blinked at him and inhaled a deep breath. “For the way I acted afterward,” she clarified. “To be completely honest, I’m not sorry for kissing you. I thought that maybe…” Her words trailed off. “I thought I had taken you off guard and acted inappropriately. I didn’t want you to think I was being too forward. The sorry just kind of popped out before I could think.”

Blake pocketed his keys. “You did take me off guard. But that didn’t mean I didn’t like it as much as you did. I think we both know I did.” She’d been pressed up against him hard enough to feel the evidence between his thighs.

As though sensing his thoughts, Annabelle’s gaze dropped down, lingering long enough to elicit a reaction. “I think it’s safe to say we both liked it. A lot,” she added. “Probably too much, actually.”

“And how much is too much?” Because that was part of his confusion.

One of her shoulders moved. “To be honest, I’m not sure. I’m still trying to figure that one out.”

“Maybe we should try it again, just to see,” he suggested.

REVIEW

I was given this book by Netgalley for an honest review.

Winner Takes All (Champion Valley) is a fun, heartwarming read. The characters and the story line are very well-developed. One stupid decision cost him his career.  So now he is in his home town coaching the Blanco Valley High football team. Annabelle is the school’s physical therapist for the team. Blake doesn’t like anyone telling him how to run his team. Annabelle and Blake’s relationship takes a turn and things get really hot and heavy. This is such a great book and I recommend it for everyone. I give WINNER TAKES ALL 5/5 STARS.
