BOOK REVIEW – QUEEN OF SORCERY

QUEEN OF SORCERY OUTSTANDING

“BELGARIAD is exactly the kind of fantasy I like. It has magic, adventure, humor, mystery, and a certain delightful human insight.”
PIERS ANTHONY
The master Sorcerer Belgarath and his daughter Polgara the arch-Sorceress were on the trail of the Orb, seeking to regain its saving power before the final disaster prophesized by the legends. And with them went Garion, a simple farm boy only months before, but now the focus of the struggle. He had never believed in sorcery and wanted no part of it. Yet with every league they traveled, the power grew in him, forcing him to acts of wizardry he could not accept.

David Eddings is a master story-teller. His scenes and character descriptions put you right into the story as it unfolds. QUEEN OF SORCERY continues the journey in locating the Orb, and Garions power is growing within him and he is doing acts of Wizardy that at this time he is unable to accept. The dialogue and the snappy sarcasm will draw you in and make you want more as each page is turned. Aunt Pol is a strong female character that makes me want to be her when I grow up. I loved this book when I read it in high school and I still love it today. I give QUEEN OF SORCERY 5/5 STARS. if YOU HAVE NOT READ THIS SERIES DO SO , YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.

BOOK REVIEW- PAWN OF PROPHECY BY DAVID EDDINGS

PAWN OF PROPHECY BY DAVID EDDINGSPAWN OF PROPHECY-(BELGARIAD SERIES)BOOK#1

“Eddings’ BELGARIAD is exactly the kind of fantasy I like. It has magic, adventure, humor, mystery, and a certain delightful human insight.”
Piers Anthony
Long ago, the Storyteller claimed, in this first book of THE BELGARIAD, the evil god Torak drove men and Gods to war. But Belgarath the Sorcerer led men to reclaim the Orb that protected men of the West. So long as it lay at Riva, the prophecy went, men would be safe.
But Garion did not believe in such stories. Brought up on a quiet farm by his Aunt Pol, how could he know that the Apostate planned to wake dread Torak, or that he would be led on a quest of unparalleled magic and danger by those he loved–but did not know…?

PAWN OF PROPHECY hooked me from the very start. David Eddings was a great story-teller that made his characters come alive and basically jump of the page. He was one of the masters in  world building, bringing to life a world of magic. It starts with Aunt Pol (Polgara)  and Garion on a farm sitting down at a meal, with an old story-teller Belgareth. What Garion does not know is that his life is about to change. Apostate has awakened Torak and he has to find the Orb to destroy Torak before it is too late. This book has sharp dialogue, with Aunt Pol’s sarcasm makes for a great read. When I first started this series in high school, I could not read them fast enough. When it came to reading the last book, I had just finished book 4 CASTLE OF WIZARDRY,I had to go right then to the book store and buy the last book in the series ENCHANTER’S END GAME.I recommend this book and the whole Belgariad series to anyone who loves a good fantasy novel. I give PAWN OF PROPHECY 5/5 STARS.

BOOK CURIOSITY

I am sitting here trying to write a review for a book and no words seem to be coming to me. It has been like this all day. I guess it is because I have been sick and just don’t feel like doing anything. So it got me to thinking, sometimes that can be a bad thing or a good thing. It just depends on the idea and if it will get me in trouble. I am curious as to what are your favorite books to read over and over, and what drew you to pick that book? I will begin with one of the first romances that I picked up. What initially drew me to it was the cover and I was looking for something around the house to read. The book was originally my Mother’s book and I found it in the laundry room when I went to put my clothes on to wash. The book was by KATHLEEN E. WOODIWISS WOLF AND THE DOVE. I could read this book over and over, in which I have. About seven times actually. I still own that paperback copy. It is almost falling apart, so I went to my local used book store and found a hardback copy.

Another book  I can read over and over is all the DAVID EDDINGS  GARION UNIVERSE SERIES. I could never get enough of these books. I have read each series several times. I love the different characters and the story. One of my favorite characters is Polgara. I love the white streak in her hair, and she is an awesome sorceress. I can also read all the Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson series, Ilona Andrews Kate Daniels series, and the Kim Harrison Rachel Morgan series over and over.

What book or series can you read over and over?
