CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE – “BACK TO BUCKHORN” BY LORI FOSTER

Book Description
Publication Date: June 2, 2014
From New York Times bestselling author Lori Foster comes a sizzling new Buckhorn Brothers novella

For odd-girl-out Zoey Hodge, the best thing about Buckhorn, Kentucky, was leaving it behind. And now she’s back—at least until she can nurse her mother back to health and hightail it out of there anew. But there’s one person she doesn’t mind seeing again. Garrett Hudson was one of the few who was always kind to her. Now he’s a firefighter—still one of the good guys, but with a sexy alpha charm that’s tempting her inner bad girl.

In school, Zoey was smart, witty and unafraid to be herself. Garrett fell hard back then, and he’s falling even faster now. As far as he’s concerned, there are all kinds of reasons Zoey should stick around. Her pet grooming business. Her mom. And the chance for him to prove that he can be her real-life hero in every way that matters….

Look for more titles in the Buckhorn Brothers series, available now from Lori Foster and Harlequin HQN: Buckhorn Beginnings, Forever Buckhorn, The Buckhorn Legacy and the novella “Buckhorn Ever After” in the Animal Attraction anthology.

I was given a copy of this book by NETGALLEY for an honest review.

BACK TO BUCKHORN was a quick, fun read, with a well-developed story line and characters. For Zoey going back to Buckhorn is hard for her to do, because everyone still blames her for the death of her boyfriend in high school. Her Mom needs her so she will just have to deal with anything that comes her way. Expecting her best friend to pick her up at the airport she is in for a surprise when her friends brother, Garrett, is waiting for her. He was always kind to her in school, but what she does not know is he has always had a secret crush on her. When she gets to town things start to heat up, and I don’t mean the random camp fire with fireworks. How can Garrett convince Zoey that they belong together? I loved BACK TO BUCKHORN  and I give it 5/5 stars.

whisper's edgeCricket Creek, Kentucky, is a sweet river town known for its theater, shopping, and cuisine. But tough times are affecting the residents of the local retirement community—until a handsome hero shows up…

Savannah Perry loves her job as social director of Whisper’s Edge, a retirement community on the picturesque waterfront of Cricket Creek. Raised in foster care, twenty-nine-year-old Savannah feels treasured and loved by the retired residents, who treat her as their adopted granddaughter and rotate having her over for dinner. But the community is struggling to stay afloat financially—until Tristan McMillan swoops into town, rescues a dog, and, well, saves the day…
Business-minded Tristan bought Whisper’s Edge from his estranged grandfather to prove his worth to the curmudgeon and to turn a quick profit. He never expected to fall for the charms of a village of crafty retirees—or to fall hard for a small town girl like Savannah. Suddenly the man who knows all about making money finds himself needing lessons in love and what really matters in life…

I liked this book, it was a cute and funny romance. I loved all the seniors in the retirement community, they helped in moving the story along. Tristan and Savannah were great together. They both had their insecurities that they had to overcome to finally be able to totally commit to each other. When Savannah finds out that Tristan does not want to keep the community a senior community, but turn it into more housing units all along the beach front property.  She tries to change his mind, and to come up with other ways to keep it a senior community so the citizens won’t have to lose their homes. I give this book 4/5 stars.
