    a last chance Christmas
    Book Description
    Publication Date: December 1, 2014
    A Christmas kiss from a cowboy…

Ben Radcliffe reckons it’ll be a cold day in hell before he considers a serious relationship or family of his own—with good reason. When he delivers a “secret” present to the Last Chance Ranch, however, Ben catches a glimpse of what family could be. And suddenly this lone cowboy finds himself under the mistletoe…planting one heck of a kiss on a stunning woman!

Genealogist and academic Molly Gallagher is all about family. And even if Ben’s secrets make him as skittish as a wild mustang, there’s nothing Molly loves more than an enigma. Especially a ridiculously sexy one! But the magic of Christmas—and the Last Chance Ranch—might not be enough to wrangle a cowboy who can’t trust himself…

I was given a copy of this book by Netgalley for an honest review.

A LAST CHANCE CHRISTMAS is a heartwarming,  fast read. The characters and storyline are well-developed. Ben comes from an abusive family and he has decided to not get married or have kids. He does not want to be like his father. When he delivers a custom-made saddle to the  LAST CHANCE RANCH, he meets Molly. Molly is there to get information for her family tree. She loves her family, and one day have one of her own. When she meets Ben , sparks fly between them. A wrench is thrown into Molly’s plans on returning back to Arizona Monday when a blizzard hits the area and shuts down the airport. They return to the ranch for the Christmas celebration and Molly shows him that he is not anything like his Dad, and would never beat his kids. He is very patient with the children on the ranch and when one of the kids decides to make the saddle look better with a marker, he does not hurt the child. This proves to him that he is not like his father, and he might just have a chance at a family.  This is such a heartwarming tale of lust(love) at first sight. I always love Vicki Lewis Thompson’s books, and give this one 5/5 stars.

Scandal follows Rose Barclay, young widow of the Duke of Southdown, wherever she goes. It’s never her fault, but newspapers love to write about the young woman from Scotland, and the much older duke she married, who died on their honeymoon. The duke left her with a large widow’s portion, now contested by his son, who kicks Rose out of the estate’s dower house and uses it to kennel his dogs.

Rose does not need to be found with a large, handsome Scot passed out at her feet, fueling gossips and giving her son-in-law more ammunition. The Scot is Steven McBride–a decorated soldier who is notorious for heavy gambling and womanizing during his leave time. Steven is happy to open his eyes and find the beautiful woman standing over him, and happy to help spirit her away. He comes up with a ruse to foil the journalists, but Rose will have to go along with his very scandalous proposal.

This is a fifteen-chapter, 47K word short book. Action occurs after A Mackenzie Family Christmas and before Rules for a Proper Governess.

I was given a copy of this book by Netgalley for an honest review.

SCANDAL AND THE DUCHESS was a quick read, with well-developed characters and storyline. When Rose’s husband dies during their honeymoon, the newspapers seem to love writing about her. When she is seen with Steven McBride a decorative soldier, the newspapers come at full force. When he decides to give the papers something to chew on, like Rose and him are engaged, the papers lap it up like milk. After being in her company, he comes to care for her, and wants to make the ruse engagement real. How can he get her to understand he wants it to be forever. This was a very sweet read, and and I give it 5/5 stars.

Praise for The Cowboy’s Christmas Baby:
“Featuring a down-home cast of characters that feel more like family than fiction, this story makes for the perfect escape.”—RT Book Reviews, 4 stars

I was given a copy of this book by Netgalley for an honest review.

COWBOY BOOTS FOR CHRISTMAS is a heartwarming, sweet read. When Callie’s Nephew witnesses a murder she does not want to go into witness protection. She goes to her Army buddy’s ranch. She knows that they will be safe with Finn O’Donnell. Callie has always loved Finn, but while they were in the service they could not be together. Then Finn fell in love with someone. Now Finn is free and could there actually be a chance for them.  Finn finds out while Callie and her nephew are living with him that he is still in love with her. Plus they have to deal with a feud between two of Burnt Boot’s prominent families, which makes for some fun times. Also they adopt so many animals that show up on their doorstep, and take in three kids whose lives are being disrupted  during the holiday season. This is such an endearing read that will have you laughing with the characters in this book. It is so well written and the characters are very likeable. I give this book 5/5 stars. Carolyn Brown hits it out of the ballpark, and I cannot wait until the next book.
