Superhero YA Romance

Cortex and V need a new nemesis.
Cortex’s last villain dumped him, and V got a little overeager and
took out her hero prematurely. They meet on Meta-Match, a nemesis pairing
site for heroes and villains. After throwing punches at each other behind
coffee shops and hiring henchman to do their bidding (mostly just getting
them coffee), they realize they have a lot more in common than meets the
eye.
And they may have a lot more hero and villain inside than they realize.
EXCERPT
Cortex: Wow. Ummm are you okay? I think you’ve been replaced by something called compassion. It’s scarier than all the other stuff you’ve said.
V: Ha. Nah. Just making you get too comfortable, you know? Let your guard down. That’s all. Loser.
Cortex: OK, whew that makes me feel a little better. Also, how many secret layers does your house have? I must’ve counted at least nine hidden passages.
V: Oh, dude, I don’t even know. We should totally explore sometime. Or, at least, we would if I would ever let you come over again. Which I won’t.
Cortex: Great! So tomorrow it is. We needed a rain check on the choreography anyway. I still have my hands and legs, so I’ll bring the katanas.
V: Okay, fine. Meet me at the bowling alley for a blindfold. You know you can’t actually know where I live. Maybe I can show you the shark tank.
Cortex: So I can pitch some of my inventions? Great. It’s a date. 9:18 P.M.
Cortex: I mean, get together. Thingy. You know what I mean.
V: I love that show! Mr. Wonderful is brutal. But, yeah, obviously not a date. Blech.
Cortex: Tomorrow then. Make sure the blindfold is purple.
V: I’ll make it orange. Just for you.
