China — I came to the US to further my education. I never counted on
falling for a gruff biker who was so much older than me. But Blades never
hesitated when I told him I was pregnant. He was the best man I’d ever
met… until he went to prison. All our lives unraveled after that. My
daughter was taken from me, and I was sold. I thought I’d never escape
the hell of being exploited and abused, until he walked through the doors
again, looking like a wrathful angel. He may have saved me, but do I really
deserve his love?

Blades — Being falsely accused of murder was bad enough. Finding out
someone stole my woman and daughter was another. Our precious little Meiling
found herself a good man, and she’s safe. Now I need to save her
mother. My China. I’m going to gut everyone who dared to touch her and
send them all straight to hell… then I’ll do whatever it takes
to prove to her she’s safe with me, and that I’ve never stopped
loving her. China and Meiling are my entire world, and I’m going to
protect them — this time.

I eyed the man in front of me. It had been a long ass time since I’d
seen the Devil’s Fury cut. “So, one of you finally came to see
me. No one’s ever brought a pretty woman with them,
though.”

The name Dingo wasn’t one I was familiar with. Then again, he looked
young. Probably started prospecting after I’d been locked up. He put
his hand on the woman’s shoulder and gave it a squeeze.

“You’re Robert Young?” she asked.

“Don’t go by that name anymore. I’m Blades. Who’s
looking for Young?”

She took a breath and seemed to be steeling herself. I should have been the
one preparing. Her next words would have knocked me on my ass if I’d
been standing.

“I’m Meiling Shan Young. Your daughter, if my birth certificate
is correct.”

I fell back against the metal chair. My daughter? “Fucking
hell.”

“So you do know who I am?” she asked.

“Yeah. Told your mother not to bring you here. Why did she let you
come now?” In all this time, China had stayed away just as I’d
demanded. Had something happened to bring my daughter here after all these
years?

“She didn’t. I don’t even remember her,” Meiling
said.

My gaze shot to Dingo. Who the hell was he? Why had he brought her here?
“Are you responsible for her being here? How she’d get mixed up
with the club? I told Xi-wang to keep away from the Devil’s
Fury.”

“We don’t know yet what happened to Xi-wang. Shortly after you
were locked up, your daughter went into foster care and her mother vanished
without a trace,” Dingo said. “As to why she’s with
me… she’s my wife.”

I shot to my feet. “Like fuck she is!”

After everything I’d been through to keep them safe, this had to
happen? I didn’t know how she’d met this bastard, but I’d
see to it he was buried six feet under. How dare he touch my precious
child?

“Sit down, old man,” Dingo said. “She’s been
accepted by the club as my ol’ lady, and we’re legally married.
Besides, she could be carrying your grandchild.”

I felt my blood pressure rising and wanted nothing more than to wring his
neck. Slowly, I took my seat. Going after him right now wouldn’t do me
any good. If my daughter liked him, then it would only hurt my relationship
with her — assuming I ever had the chance to have one.

“Why the fuck are you here?” I asked, focusing on Dingo.

“We need some answers. Mei doesn’t remember her mother, and
never knew about you. In fact, her birth certificate was buried and a false
one put in its place. You tried to keep her a secret, but it’s time to
talk.”

I didn’t like it, but they weren’t the only ones who needed
answers. They said my daughter couldn’t remember her mother. Where the
hell was China? If I found out someone had hurt her, I was going to
slaughter everyone responsible. “Fine. I’ll tell you what I
know, then you explain what’s really going on.”

I told them how I met Meiling’s mother, about us falling in love, and
me keeping the two of them a secret from the club. Everything up until I
went to prison. After that, I lost track of China. I’d thought she was
only listening to me and keeping away as I’d told her to do. I should
have found a way to check up on her.

Meiling slumped in her seat. “So you don’t know what happened
to her, or how I ended up in foster care?”

“Nope. I never even heard she was missing. No one ever came to ask me
about you, but you were mine legally. If someone finds out what happened, I
sure the fuck want to know,” I said.

“Outlaw is working on it,” Dingo said. “He’s a
hacker for the club. Only thing we know for sure is the foster family who
had Meiling…” Dingo stopped mid-sentence.

I wanted to ask what the hell a hacker was, but more importantly, what was
it he didn’t want to tell me? If it had to do with my daughter, then I
deserved to know. He might be married to her, but she was my baby first and
foremost.

Meiling met my gaze. I knew whatever they were hiding would gut me.
“He doesn’t want to tell you.”

“Did they hurt you?” I asked.

“They made her into a whore by the age of fourteen,” Dingo
said. Even I could hear the pain in his voice.

I slammed my fists into the table, and everything went red. I roared out my
rage, standing so fast the chair fell over. I ripped the chain free of the
table and continued to pound the metal surface, denting it. Guards rushed
in, and I knew they were going to put me in solitary if I didn’t calm
down, but I couldn’t. I wanted to make them all suffer. Every last
person who’d harmed my baby needed to die, and I wanted to be the one
to do it.

Dingo held up a hand, cautioning them to stay back. “Give him a
minute. We gave him bad news.”

Bad news? I nearly laughed. That was putting it mildly. Finding out my
favorite motorcycle had turned to rust would be bad news. Discovering my
China had moved on and found someone else would be bad news. Hearing someone
turned my daughter into a prostitute while she was still a kid made me want
to set the entire world ablaze.

“No. Fuck that shit.” I looked from my daughter to Dingo.
“I didn’t fucking kill those people. You find out who did, get
me out of here, and I’ll handle the men who hurt my
daughter.”

“I didn’t hear that,” one of the guards muttered.
“Did. Not. Fucking. Hear. It.” He walked out, dragging the other
one with him. At least they had some sense.

“Are you trying to say you’re innocent?” Meiling
asked.

I gave a bark of laughter. Innocent? Me? Not hardly. “No, daughter.
I’m far from innocent, but I didn’t commit the murders I was
accused of. If Outlaw can find out what happened with your situation, then
maybe he can help with mine. When I got locked up, there wasn’t anyone
capable of digging up that kind of dirt, not within the club, and certainly
no one who gave a shit about me. You get me out of here, and I’ll make
sure they all fucking pay.”

“On one condition,” Dingo said.

He had some nerve adding a stipulation. Was he trying to keep me away from
my daughter?

“What’s that, boy?” I asked.

“You give your blessing for me and Mei to be together.” He
cleared his throat. “I love her, and I will love and protect any
children we have together. If we’re ever blessed with
any.”

“You’re an idiot,” Mei told him, but I saw the affection
in her gaze. “But I love you too.”

The way he smiled at the words told me enough. The bastard was head over
heels for my little girl, and since they were already married, I might as
well learn to live with it.

“Fine. You have my blessing, as long as you make her happy. Fuck up,
and I’ll Goddamn bury you where they’ll never find your
body,” I said.

The look he gave me assured me we were on the same page. I hoped like fuck
the club was a better place than it had been when I got locked up. If it
wasn’t, I’d need to find a way to get Meiling away from there.
It didn’t matter if she was married to this little shit or not.
I’d do whatever it took to keep her safe. I’d failed her until
now. Never again.

“I know I’m a stranger to you, girl, but I’m your dad. I
get out of here, and I’ll make things right for you. I don’t
expect you to call me anything other than Blades, until I’ve earned
the right to be called anything else.”

“We’ll have to agree to disagree,” Meiling said.
“Daddy.”

I felt my throat grow tight and my eyes stung. I flashed her a smile,
hoping she knew how much it meant for me to hear her call me Daddy.
I’d missed out on everything. Her first steps. First words. And
because I hadn’t been there to keep them safe, someone had tried to
destroy my family. Once I was free of this place, I’d seek
retribution. I only hoped it didn’t take them too long.

My daughter came closer and put her arms around me. I knew we weren’t
supposed to touch but fuck all of them. I hugged her tight, wanting to
remember this moment forever.

“Love you, Meiling. Always have,” I said, my voice a littler
gruffer than usual. “Even if I can’t get out of here, remember
that. You were wanted, and you were loved. Never doubt it for a
moment.”

“Thank you, Daddy.”

* * *

I hadn’t realized they would have me freed within twenty-four hours.
I’d spent eighteen years in prison for something I didn’t do.
All this time, I’d thought my woman was safe. Off living her life,
providing for our child. How could I have been so wrong? I knew about the
evil in the world. Faced it every fucking day, even before I’d gotten
locked up. It never once crossed my mind that darkness would touch my two
girls, especially since I’d made sure to keep them away from the
club.

It had taken a month to handle all the people who’d hurt my daughter
and to find my precious China. She’d been dumped in a brothel not too
far over the state line. From what the hackers had found, it looked like she
was still there. If she wasn’t, I’d beat the hell out of
everyone until I got some answers. One way or another, I was bringing her
home.

Pulling into the parking lot of the Silk Purse, my heart hammered in my
chest. It would be my first time seeing her in so damn long. Did she even
remember me? Had they completely broken her?

I got off the bike and headed inside. The moment I saw her my fucking heart
broke. My beautiful girl was just as stunning now as she’d been
before, even with the scars clearly visible on her face and arms, and a few
silver threads in her hair. She gave me a slight bow as I drew closer, but
her eyes never met mine.

“Welcome to the Silk Purse. What will be your pleasure
tonight?” she asked, her voice still holding the accent I’d so
loved all those years ago.

“My pleasure?” I asked. She still didn’t look up.
“I came to take my woman home. Our daughter needs her.”

She went still, completely frozen. Slowly, she lifted her head and her gaze
locked with mine. The Xi-wang I’d known was there, but just barely. I
could see her, but I could also see the road of pain she’d traveled
while we’d been apart.

“Xi-wang.”

“Robert?” she asked softly. “You went to prison for
murder.”

“Didn’t do it.” I reached for her, tugging her against
me. “But I did kill a few people since then. They all deserved
it.”

I stroked her cheek and wished I could turn back the clock. She’d had
my heart the moment we locked eyes that first time.

Danica — Wylde’s an incorrigible flirt. I know he acts like
he’s a player, but I’ve seen another side of him. Kids from all
over the area flock to him because he’s Wylde — the guru of all
things electronic. He has endless patience with the teens looking to learn
his skill in video games, but he has none with adults. I love his twisted,
sarcastic sense of humor, and that streak of protectiveness he shows on
occasion. He’s wicked smart and I love watching him use his
intelligence and his wit. Plus he’s hotter than sin. So I flirt
back.

Wylde — I’ve got it bad. I come to the coffee shop just to be near
Danica. The tiny barista has more heart than most people I’ve met. But
she’s the kind of woman who’ll want forever, and that’s
not me. But when I realize the danger she and her sisters are in, I’ll
do whatever’s necessary to keep them safe. Once Danica knows what
I’m capable of, I know she’ll run screaming into the night, and
I’ll never see her again.

WARNING: Wylde features a protective hero, a determined heroine and
includes graphic violence and adult situations that may be triggers for some

“I’ll take a double ristretto with iced vanilla double shot and
organic chocolate brownie decaf, please.”

The line behind me groaned.

One guy grumbled from behind me, “Some of us got places to
be!”

“Yeah,” someone else volunteered. “You shouldn’t
get something so complicated when the line’s so long.”

I just grinned, loving the disgruntled mutterings. Did my heart good.
“It’s amazing what you can wait for when you’re, you know,
early. My recommendation to people in a hurry is to start earlier. Then
you’re not in such a rush.” I leaned in over the counter for a
stage whisper at the woman getting ready to serve me. “Too much stress
can lead to gas.”

The young woman gave me a star struck smile, eating me up with her eyes and
actually licking her lips. What can I say? I have that effect on women. Even
if this one was a little young for my tastes.

“That was a… double… uh… and vanilla…
decaf?” She graced me with a dreamy smile. The girl had no clue what
she was doing, but I wasn’t about to push her. Mainly because I saw
the one person in the whole place who could make this situation
better.

Danica James stepped behind the counter as she tied her apron around her
slender waist. She rolled her eyes, giving me a look that said I was being a
drama queen again. Instead of saying anything, she pulled out a big mug with
the coffee shop’s logo on it and filled it full of black coffee.

“Anything else, Wylde?”

I grinned as I paid for the cup and the coffee. “Nope. Thanks,
Danica.”

She raised an eyebrow, glancing at the tip jar pointedly. “Just put
the tip in, Wylde. See how it feels.”

Yeah, we had a thing going. And I always waited until she said it before I
put in my tip. She always said it.

“What? Is that it?”

“Asshole.”

Yeah, the groans behind me were amusing as shit.

“You’re welcome.” I threw up a hand and headed back to my
table where I’d set up my laptop for the morning. I loved coming here.
Not for the glacially slow Internet or the stimulating company that amused
me so much. Hell, I didn’t even come for the coffee, though it was the
best in town. No. I came for Danica James.

The woman was sin and sex with a snarky attitude. She knew my drink as well
as my moods and accommodated both. If I were the kind of man looking for a
woman for my own, it would probably be Danica. Not only was she beautiful
and sassy, but she was kind, as well. I’d seen her giving out the
leftover pastries to a few homeless people who hung out a couple of blocks
from Henry’s Coffee Shop on multiple occasions. I’d also seen
her paying for them out of her tips so her boss didn’t get in a twist.
I made sure to contribute as much as I could and not look like a creepy
stalker. I also was pretty sure she knew what I was doing.

An hour later, I was banging away on a Discord channel I frequented,
helping noobs learn to play Fortnite. The other barista approached me, a big
smile on her face. She’d loosened a couple of buttons on her top so I
had a good view of her cleavage. Which, I admit, was a pretty good view. But
she wasn’t my style. Mainly because she was star struck by my good
looks, tattoos, and quite possibly my Titan GT77, but I didn’t think
so. She might surprise me, but didn’t strike me as the computer geek
type.

“Hey, Wylde.” She smiled and set a large black coffee next to
my empty mug. “Want me to freshen up your mug?”

I glanced at the cup she’d just set in front of me. “I think
I’m good. I’ll come to the bar if I need something.” I
smiled to take the sting out, but honestly, I could care less if she got
offended. She wasn’t stupid… exactly… she was just young
and thought she could lead guys around by their dicks. I’d seen it a
few times since she started. I’d also overheard her telling her
girlfriends she could get me into bed with a crook of her finger. I had to
chuckle at that.

Her smile faltered. “I was just being nice.”

I sighed and looked up from the chat session I was in. Normally, I’d
have my headphones on using voice chat, but it was crowded and I
didn’t want to disturb anyone. I could be a bastard, but I
wasn’t a complete asshole. Most of the time.

“Look, kid. I’m sure you’re nice and all, but you
ain’t my type. Tell your friends I’m gay or something if you
think it will help you save face. But I’m not interested.
‘K?”

All right. So maybe I was a complete asshole. Wasn’t the first time.
Wouldn’t be the last.

The girl stomped her foot. “You don’t have to be so
rude.” Then she turned and flounced off.

“Making friends, I see.”

Danica grinned at me from where she was wiping down a table while Little
Miss Thang had moved back behind the bar. She glared furiously at me before
going back to her phone.

I grinned at Danica. “I do my best.”

She snorted. “Right. You do your best to piss as many people off as
you can. Pretty sure you think they’ve made pissing people off an
Olympic sport, and you’re determined to win gold.”

I barked out a laugh. Which got Little Miss Thang back to glaring at me.
Only now, her anger spilled over to Danica. That wasn’t happening. I
met her gaze while I continued my conversation with Danica. The look I gave
her was probably not very pleasant.

“Well, you know what they say. Better pissed off than pissed on. I
mean, that’s not really my thing, but I could do it. Honestly, though,
she didn’t take the hint so I had to go the not-so-subtle
route.”

“Just be careful of your coffee if Jordan serves it. Not saying
she’d put laxative in it. Not not saying it either. Or maybe
salt.” She looked off, as if pondering which would be worse. “I
think I’d prefer the laxative.”

I sketched her a two-fingered salute and we both went about our business.
It was one of many reasons I liked Danica. She knew when to leave a man
alone, and she didn’t throw herself at me either. Hell, I knew she
wanted me. What woman wouldn’t? But she never let on like she did.
Which, I’ll admit, was part of the draw. It was also the reason I
didn’t pursue her. Once the chase was over, I’d get bored and
she’d get hurt. That was the last thing I wanted.

Marci — My sister and her boyfriend had been my entire world, until I lost
them both. Laura died, and Stitches walked away. I’ve lived in hell
for the past seven years thanks to a brother who should have protected me.
Instead, he used me to further his career, not caring whether I lived or
died. Now Stitches is back, right in front of me. I always thought of him as
an older brother, so why does he suddenly seem so sexy? What would Laura
think if she knew I was falling for the man she loved?

Stitches – When I lost my woman and daughter, I walked away. I should
have taken her little sister, Marci, with me. Instead I trusted her family.
My mistake. If I’d checked on Marci, kept in touch, I’d have
known she was in trouble. Now she’s back in my life, battered and
broken. The men who dared to hurt her will pay with their lives. Especially
her older brother. I failed her before, but this time I’ll get
vengeance for all she’s suffered. It never occurred to me I’d

Present Day

I couldn’t believe Ram had returned to the Devil’s Fury.
Although, the biggest surprise had been the women and teens he’d
brought with him. Each had suffered horribly, and I’d given them some
space the first week. Badger had agreed they would be too skittish for me to
attempt giving them an exam. It wasn’t the first time I’d used
my medical knowledge for the sake of my brothers or their women. Now I was
on the last woman, and nothing could have prepared me to come face-to-face
with Marci again. Now all grown up and looking more haunted than any woman
should. It had been ten years since I’d last seen her, which meant she
was in her early twenties now. My stomach twisted. How the hell had she
gotten mixed up in all this? And why hadn’t I known? I had so many
questions.

She wouldn’t look at me. Couldn’t say I blamed her. If it
weren’t for me knocking up her sister, Laura might have still been
alive. I might not have liked their brother, Richard, but I’d thought
he would at least make sure Marci had a decent life. I hadn’t seen a
single poster around town about her being missing. Not a peep on the local
news or radio. How long ago had she been kidnapped?

“Marci, do you remember me?” I asked, keeping my voice low and
even, not wanting to startle her.

She still wouldn’t acknowledge me. She rocked slightly as she stared
at the floor. I wasn’t sure if she needed a medical exam right now. A
psychiatrist would probably be better for her. I knew some of the women in
the club had spoken to one before. And Ram might not have a degree or
license but did well with that sort of thing. Would he be able to coax
something from her? Even a few words would help. I didn’t know if she
was in pain, hungry, or what the hell she needed right now.

Why the fuck did they have me walk in here while Marci was alone? The fact
a man came into the apartment probably scared the shit out of her. Then
again, if the others were like her, I doubted they’d have been much
comfort right now. I wished one of the old ladies had joined me for this.
But if they had, and Marci acknowledged me, then I’d have to explain
how I knew her. No one knew about Laura or our daughter, Rose, and I
intended to keep it that way if at all possible. Some things weren’t
meant to be shared, and that was a pain that was mine alone to bear.

“The last time I saw you, you were starting high school. Even though
we live in a small town, not once have I run into you or your brother,
Richard.” Marci flinched when I said her brother’s name. My nape
prickled and I inched a little closer. Did that asshole Richard have
something to do with her being here now? Was he to blame for what happened
to Marci? If so, I’d bury the fucker! “You know, I
couldn’t face you when Laura died. I called
Richard…”

She flinched again and whimpered. Her rocking increased. I didn’t
need a verbal response from her. Her actions alone spoke volumes. I’d
have to ask Outlaw to find him for me, which meant I’d have to tell at
least one person I knew Marci and how we were connected. I took the risk of
moving even closer to her and went down on one knee in front of her. She
froze, her eyes slowly focusing on me. Once she seemed to come back to
herself a little, her eyes filled with tears, and she flung herself into my
arms.

“I’ve got you, Marci. Everything will be fine now.” I
rubbed her back and held her tight, letting her soak my cut and tee with her
tears. When her cries quieted, I stood and lifted her into my arms. I
hesitated to take her to the bedroom she’d been using. I felt like I
needed to get her out of the apartment. The more she cried, the more urgent
it felt to get her somewhere I could make her feel safe. Clearly, this
wasn’t it.

Instead, I found myself carrying her outside and walking to my house. Thank
goodness I didn’t live at the back of the compound. I managed to let
myself in without setting her down or dropping her, then took her straight
to the living room. Easing her down onto the couch, I smoothed her hair back
from her face.

“This is my house. You’ll be safe here, all right?”

She gave me a slight nod, then curled into the corner of the couch. I went
back to close and lock the door. As I twisted the bolt into place, I stared
at it. In all the years I’d lived here, not once had I locked my door.
For the first time in ten years, I had someone to protect, and this time
I’d do a better job of it.

Marci was no longer the teenager who’d brightly smiled at me and
asked a million questions about what it was like to be part of a motorcycle
club. She’d grown into a beautiful woman. The thought of her being
abused made me grind my teeth. She should have had a loving home, a ton of
friends, and been away at college right now. Instead, she’d been
tossed into hell, most likely by her brother.

When I got back to the living room, she’d closed her eyes but
wasn’t quite asleep. She peeked at me, letting me know she was aware
of her surroundings. It was an improvement over how I’d found
her.

“How old are you now, Marci? Twenty-two? Twenty-three?” I
asked.

“I don’t know. I lost track of time.”

I tried to hold in my anger over the situation so I wouldn’t scare
her. For her to make such a statement meant she’d been with
Vega’s men for a while. Or possibly someone before them.

“Then can you tell me what happened? Last I heard, your brother was
going to take you in until you were old enough to make it on your
own.” Her lower lip trembled, and she picked at her fingernails. I
reached over to place my hand over hers. “No one here will hurt you,
Marci. I’m not going to let anything bad happen to you.”

Again, I silently added, because I damn sure felt responsible right now. If
I’d kept in touch or checked up on her, would this have
happened?

Talia — Every man in my life, including my father, has betrayed me. My
past has made me cynical, twisted my mind, and left bruises that will never
fade. Then I’m kidnapped and this big biker swoops in to save the day.
I watch as he kills four men, and the blood on his hands should terrify me.
Seeing how kind he is when rescuing everyone, how he takes charge and
won’t leave anyone behind, makes me wonder if not all men are useless.
He says I can trust him, and he wants me to stick around. I’ve always
run before, but something about this man makes me want to give him a chance.
I only hope I won’t regret it.

Ram — I left my club and never planned to go back. They thought I was
dead, and I wanted to keep it that way. But things don’t always go
according to plan. I roll up to the gates with six women in tow. One of them
I’d love to claim as my own. She’s prickly and defensive, but I
find her utterly adorable. I want to keep her, but she pushes me away. When
one of the other victims asks to stay with me, I know it’s my one
chance to convince Talia to give me a shot. Now I’ve gone from a
vigilante with no home to a family man. No matter how many men I have to
kill, I will do whatever it takes to keep them safe. Never again will
someone hurt those who are precious to me.

I’d been too late to save the young girl Vega targeted, but I
wouldn’t fail this time. The woman in his grasp looked to be no more
than nineteen years old. The way she slumped told me she’d either been
drugged or knocked unconscious. I knew Vega would do unspeakable things to
her. As much as I wanted to rip her from his arms right here and now, I knew
it was better to wait. He likely had other victims and I hoped he would lead
me to them. If at all possible, tonight I would save more than one
life.

The ink on my back felt as if it burned, a reminder of the life I’d
left behind. I hadn’t worn my club colors in more than a decade. After
I’d gone nomad, I’d disappeared, making sure my brothers
couldn’t find me. They didn’t know of my failed mission, and I
hoped they never did. Because of me, multiple lives had been lost. I knew
saving this woman and the others couldn’t make up for what I’d
done before, but it was the only way I knew of to ease the burden on my
guilty conscience.

I clung to the shadows out-of-sight, a knife gripped in my hand. The woman
let out a soft moan and I hoped she wouldn’t wake any time soon. Vega
would do whatever it took to keep her quiet, and I wanted her to suffer as
little as possible. There was no telling what he had already done to
her.

Following silently, I kept him within sight. Vega made his way through the
shady neighborhood, fast approaching the warehouses on the opposite end. I
held back as he entered the last structure on the right. The few windows I
saw were covered in dust and grime, but I knew I needed to at least try to
get a glimpse inside the building. If I had my brothers with me, things
would have been different. I didn’t know if they’d ever accept
me back again, or if they even knew I was still alive. Only Badger had kept
in touch. Confronting Vega alone wasn’t a good idea. I knew he had
multiple men working under him including extra hired muscle. Many would call
this a suicide mission. Perhaps they were right, but I didn’t care if
I died today as long as the innocent women and girls inside the building
would be safe.

Through the dirt-encrusted glass, I could see Vega and three other men. The
woman he’d carried inside was now slumped in a chair, her wrists tied
to the arms. A trickle of blood ran from her temple down the side of her
face. I wondered how else he’d hurt her. Scanning the room, I saw a
row of cages, each filled with at least one teenage girl or young woman.
None looked over the age of twenty and the youngest appeared to be near
thirteen. I couldn’t stand sick fucks like Vega.

I watched for another twenty minutes, keeping an eye on any changes. So
far, it didn’t look like Vega had other men with him. Three
didn’t seem like much for someone like him. Which meant they were
either on their way or he felt secure with such a small detail. If I had my
sniper rifle, it would have been much easier to take them out. Instead, all
I had was my nine millimeter and my knife. There was no way to end their
miserable lives without getting closer.

Part of me wanted to feel Vega’s blood and watch as the light dimmed
from his eyes. The average person might have considered him a monster, but
tonight I was the vicious thing lurking in the dark. My heart kept a steady
rhythm as I watched and waited. I knew I’d have to move before he
harmed the woman anymore, yet I couldn’t be careless and rush into
danger. Doing so would only end all our lives.

I backed away from the window as the phone vibrated in my pocket. Pulling
it out I checked the screen. A familiar name flashed on the display. Badger.
Why the hell would he be calling now?

My curiosity got the better of me and I stepped farther away from the
warehouse to answer the call.

“To what do I owe the pleasure?” I asked when the call
connected.

“Why do you always have to be a dick when you answer the phone? You
could at least try not to sound sarcastic.”

“Maybe I just seem like one because we haven’t spoken in so
long. It’s not like we talk more than once every two or three years.
Is there even anyone else at the club who knows I’m still
alive?”

Badger sighed. “I got the feeling you didn’t want anyone to
know you were alive. Was I wrong? And don’t think for one second
I’m not aware of what you’ve been up to. I’ve left you
alone to do your thing, but this is news that couldn’t wait any
longer.”

My gut churned. What the hell could have possibly happened to make him say
such a thing? “What’s wrong?”

“It’s Grizzly. I don’t know how else to say it so
I’ll just spit it out. He’s gone. Died a few months ago.
I’d have called sooner but shit hit the fan around here.”

I pressed a hand to my chest, feeling the loss of my ex-president. I
hadn’t seen him in over ten years. It never occurred to me the last
time I walked out would be the last chance I ever had to speak with
him.

“What happened? How did he die?” I asked.

“Too many years of bad decisions caught up to him. His health began
to decline a little while back. Finally, his body just gave out. It hit the
entire club hard, especially his daughters.”

The way he said the word daughters made me think there was something more
to it, but now wasn’t the time to ask. I could mourn Grizzly later and
ask for more details about the club. Right now, I needed to focus on the
women and girls who needed my help. Besides, I’d been gone from the
club for so long I didn’t even know any of Grizzly’s adopted
daughters. I’d heard about them from Badger previously, but it
wasn’t the same as meeting them in person.

“I appreciate the call, but now isn’t a good time. Sorry,
Badger. I’ve got to go.” I hung up before he could say another
word.

Creeping back over to the warehouse, I looked into the window again. While
I’d been on the phone, Vega had been having a bit of fun. The poor
woman tied to the chair now had multiple wounds. I could see the rise and
fall of her chest and said a silent thanks she was still alive. But I
worried she wouldn’t be for much longer. Whatever it took, I needed to
get her and the others out of there as quickly as possible.

One of Vega’s men pulled out a pack of cigarettes and headed for the
door. I knew this was my chance to take out at least one of them. When he
didn’t return, Vega would suspect something was up. It was a risk
I’d have to take.

I heard the warehouse door open and shut. Gripping my knife tightly, I
crept around the corner. I saw the flicker of the flame from his lighter,
then the soft glow from the end of a cigarette. While he remained
preoccupied, I moved swiftly on silent feet. Before the asshole had a chance
to even realize I was there, I placed my hand over his mouth and slit his
throat.

The coppery scent of his blood filled the air, and I knew it would attract
other predators, both human and animal. The clock was ticking. I leaned
against the building, melding with the shadows, and waited for my next
victim. It wasn’t long before another of Vega’s men came
outside.

“Joe, where the fuck are you? Vega is starting to get pissed. Stop
screwing around and come back inside.”

I had bad news for him. Joe wouldn’t be going back inside. He had a
one-way ticket to hell…

Blossom — My life is about as complicated as it can get. To fulfill his
political aspirations, my stepfather has decided to sell me to a man who can
take him to the governor’s seat. He’s always been abusive,
demanding I be perfect in public, silent in private, and obey him in all
things. After we moved to Evansville, Indiana, I spent months trying to find
the perfect protector, looking for the biggest, bravest, meanest man I could
find. Then I meet Walker from the motorcycle club, Iron Tzars. He’s
everything I need, everything I want, and nothing I can handle. But
he’s the one. And I’m determined for him to make me his.

Walker — I’m emotionally unavailable, a mean bastard on the best of
days. Serving my country as a Dog Handler for the Army, finding explosives
meant to kill my fellow soldiers and innocent people, left me with emotional
scars I never thought I’d get over. I lost my fiancée, my
partner, and my ability to empathize with anything. Hell, I even refused to
name the dog that took up with me and refused to leave, simply calling her
Dog. Then this lost little waif worms her way into a compound full of
hardasses who never allow outsiders. Of all the men in this club, the little
fool sets her sights on me. Time to set her straight. Only, I might have
gone too far. If Blossom doesn’t survive this, it’s on me. And I
might have accidentally fallen for her.

WARNING: Graphic violence, adult situations, and references to human
trafficking and domestic abuse that may be triggers for some readers.
Features a grumpy hero and a feisty heroine. Eventual happy ending and NO
cheating, as always.

Downing the shot of Jack I’d just poured for myself, I did my best to
ignore the feminine laughter coming from the other side of the clubhouse
common room. Blossom Evergreen was a fucking trial to the most patient of
men and a pain in my fucking ass. She was always there. Always right in my
line of sight or upwind of me so I had to smell that clean, fresh scent that
always clung to her. Reminded me of spring flowers or some fucking
shit.

A crash followed by a startled yelp had me pouring another drink. The woman
was also the biggest klutz known to man.

“Sorry!” The lyrical sound of Blossom’s voice shot
through me and went straight to my cock. Even knowing she’d likely
plowed over some club girl.

“Watch where you’re goin’, bitch!”

“I’m so sorry, Star! I’ll clean it up.”

“Damned straight you will!”

“Cut it out, Star!” Another club girl came to Blossom’s
aid. I knew better than to look. If I did, I’d be obliged to step in,
and if I did, every fucking club girl East of the Mississippi would be all
the fuck over me. Any hint of interest in a woman by any of the brothers
brought them in droves. They were very territorial of the unattached men in
the club.

“It’s all right, Didi. I was at fault. I’ll clean it
up.” Blossom’s voice was subdued now. Almost subservient.

“You cut it out too, Blossom! She plowed around the corner right into
you! This ain’t your fault.”

“If she hadn’t been making a nuisance of herself, tripping all
over herself and everyone else to try and get close to Walker for two
fuckin’ months, the club’d be a better fuckin’
place!”

“You don’t like it here, say the word, Star.” Atlas, the
sergeant at arms for the club, said. “I’ll be happy to take you
out.” He didn’t even stop as he passed. Just laid down his edict
and kept going. There was no doubt he’d follow through. And the
follow-through meant the woman wouldn’t be leaving. No one left Iron
Tzars. Member, old lady, prospect, or club whore. They all knew it and
respected it. Which was good. Last thing I wanted to do was to have to come
to Blossom’s defense and encourage the girl further. Because Star was
right. Blossom was making a nuisance of herself.

“Don’t listen to her,” Didi encouraged. “Come with
me. I’ll take you to the old ladies.”

“You don’t have to do that. I don’t want anyone giving
you grief, Didi.”

Didi laughed. And no. Her laugh didn’t affect me the way fucking
Blossom’s did. And who named their kid Blossom Evergreen anyway? The
woman was a walking menace, and for some stupid reason my dick had zeroed in
on her and was growing increasingly demanding.

“Don’t worry about her. She’ll fall in line just like
everyone else. The patched members run a tight ship. You don’t get in
here unless you know the score.”

Except, I didn’t think Blossom did know the score. She wasn’t a
club girl, or an old lady. She was the friend of all the old ladies. Which
made her someone we protected since it would upset the women if something
happened to their friend. It also made it difficult for everyone to figure
out exactly what her position in our midst was. No one knew quite what to do
with her.

I knew what I wanted to do with her. It involved spanking her ass, then
fucking it. Neither of which was the best idea, or one I welcomed. I hated
being around people, and Blossom Evergreen wasn’t the type of woman to
have a casual hook-up. She hadn’t made a move on any of the brothers.
Hadn’t made a move on me, though it was painfully obvious she wanted
to. Given the fact any woman I fucked had to be able to hold her own,
including taking what she needed instead of pussyfooting around, Blossom was
definitely not a woman I wanted to get mixed up with.

Didi looped her arm through Blossom’s and walked her over to three of
the women in the club who’d been claimed by members of Iron Tzars.
“Stay away from Star,” Didi said as they approached the table.
“She won’t do anything while you’re near the guys, but
she’ll chew you up and spit you out if she catches you by
yourself.”

“Who will chew her up?” Winter raised an eyebrow while her
sister, Serelda, leaned forward, her attention on the club girl.

“Star. Most of the club whores, really.” Didi smiled, but gave
the old ladies a solemn look. “She staying with anyone?”

Iris shook her head. “No. But she’s with us. You tell the girls
she’s off-limits.” The president’s woman was growing into
her role. She didn’t often give orders, but when she did, she expected
them to be obeyed. I had to admire her for that. All of them, really. They
never backed down from anyone. Not anymore. Bellarose hadn’t been with
Atlas that long, but given she was the daughter of Alexi Petrov, no one was
worried she’d have problems holding her own. Alexi being a one-third
owner of Argent Tech and the acknowledged leader of the Shadow Demons. No.
Bellarose would probably think club girls beneath her. If she chose to put
one in her place, she’d do it hard. Winter and Serelda were especially
aggressive. I didn’t know their stories, but I could tell by the scars
on each woman they hadn’t had it easy. They also didn’t bow down
to anyone, especially a club whore.

Didi grinned. “Happy to. I happen to think the world of Blossom, and
she’s too sweet to tell them where to get off.”
