REVIEW – THE DRAFTER BY KIM HARRISON

THE DRAFTER
In the first explosive book in the Peri Reed Chronicles, Kim Harrison, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Hollows series, blazes a new frontier with an edge-of-your-seat thriller that will keep you guessing until the very end.

Detroit 2030. Double-crossed by the person she loved and betrayed by the covert government organization that trained her to use her body as a weapon, Peri Reed is a renegade on the run. Don’t forgive and never forget has always been Peri’s creed. But her day job makes it difficult: she is a drafter, possessed of a rare, invaluable skill for altering time, yet destined to forget both the history she changed and the history she rewrote. When Peri discovers her name is on a list of corrupt operatives, she realizes that her own life has been manipulated by the agency. Her memory of the previous three years erased, she joins forces with a mysterious rogue soldier in a deadly race to piece together the truth about her fateful final task. Her motto has always been only to kill those who kill her first. But with nothing but intuition to guide her, will she have to break her own rule to survive?

Kim Harrison has another hit on her hands! THE DRAFTER a roller coaster of a ride! I love the character of Peri Reed. She is a drafter, one who can change the timeline. This book does not have the humor like the last series. It is more a Sci-Fi/Thriller, and will have you on the edge of your seat. Sometimes Peri will draft and she will not know she is doing it. Her last draft rewrote time when a mission went wrong and they had to kill a security guard, and Peri was shot. Now she has changed the timeline, and everything will start going to hell in a hand basket. She will have to find out who is telling the truth, her boss or someone else. This will take you on a wild ride in finding what the truth is. I loved this book and recommend it to everyone. I give THE DRAFTER 5/5 STARS.

Leigh Greenwood is one of my favorite historical romance authors. His books are always masterfully written. I love his cowboys in the books. I always listened to the stories my Grandfather told me when he was growing up and about his horse that he had. My Great-Grandmother would tell me about coming here in a covered wagon, and that era just always fascinated me. Reading one of Mr. Greenwood’s westerns always brings that back to me. FOREVER AND ALWAYS is a story of Logan and Sibyl. Logan was adopted when his family was killed and settled in Chicago, but he has always wanted to find his two brothers that he was separated from. They were all adopted by different families. Now that his health is bad and does not have long to live, he breaks off his engagement and heads out to find his brothers. He stops at a small western town and goes into the bank, he ends up killing the bank robbers. He leaves, because he did not want the attention. He meets with Sibyl when he goes back to deposit some money. From there the relationship between them flourishes, but that is temporary, when his ex-fiance shows up and creates havoc. I recommend this book to everyone, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I give FOREVER AND ALWAYS 5/5 STARS.

REVIEW – BOUND FOR NIRVANA BY KENDRA LEIGH

bound for nirvana
The bonds of their love saw them through the ravaging storm to the promise of peace and the chance to breathe …

Angel once believed her soul belonged to the Devil. Now she willingly gives every part of her—mind, body and soul—to the man whose love mends her a little more each day.

Ethan knows Hell is no place for an angel, especially not his Angel. He would sacrifice his soul every day of his life in order to save hers.

Fueled by an almost obsessive desire, their need for each other ignites a passion that most couples could find destructive, but instead the flames of their possessive vigilance only seem to feed the fire of their insatiable hunger. The slaying of Ethan’s demons has made their fortress of love stronger than ever.
But Angel continues to paper over the cracks of her troubled past, running from the demons that chase her and the nightmares that plague her. When a twist of fate forces her to confront them, she finally begins to accept that her repressed memories need to be explored in order to attain the peace she craves.

But in her search for Nirvana, Angel discovers far more than buried memories.

What happens when the worst nightmare you’ve ever encountered is the one you wake up in?
When the past comes face to face with the present to reveal a web of diseased secrets and lies?
And the only road you can take leads to one destination … Hell.

REVIEW – A RED-ROSE CHAIN BY SEANAN McGUIRE

a red-rose chainThings are looking up.

For the first time in what feels like years, October “Toby” Daye has been able to pause long enough to take a breath and look at her life — and she likes what she sees. She has friends. She has allies. She has a squire to train and a King of Cats to love, and maybe, just maybe, she can let her guard down for a change.

Or not. When Queen Windermere’s seneschal is elf-shot and thrown into an enchanted sleep by agents from the neighboring Kingdom of Silences, Toby finds herself in a role she never expected to play: that of a diplomat. She must travel to Portland, Oregon, to convince King Rhys of Silences not to go to war against the Mists. But nothing is that simple, and what October finds in Silences is worse than she would ever have imagined.

How far will Toby go when lives are on the line, and when allies both old and new are threatened by a force she had never expected to face again? How much is October willing to give up, and how much is she willing to change? In Faerie, what’s past is never really gone.

It’s just waiting for an opportunity to pounce.

A Red-Rose Chain is the ninth installment in Seanan McGuire’s urban fantasy October “Toby” Daye series.

She calls Madden to help her and he finds a place for Mauthe Doog. While at Queen Windermere’s knowe, She receives a missive of an impending war with the King of Silences. Now this king was put on the throne by the Queen of the Mists. Who in the last book Toby defeated. Well, Toby is in deep do-do again. She has been chosen to be a diplomat of Queen Windmere and go to the King of Silences and convince him not to go to war with Queen Windmere. In true Toby fashion, she mucks it up as usual.
