REVIEW – THE HEALER BY C.J. ANAYA

THE HEALER
A girl, a prophecy and two warring gods equals destiny!

Seventeen-year-old Hope Fairmont longs for a normal teenage life, but with a gift like hers, normal equals healing illnesses and injuries instantly. Keeping a secret like that isn’t easy, but a small town is the perfect place for her to heal those who can’t heal themselves, and an even better place for her father, James Fairmont, to hide his daughter from the rest of the world.

Life takes an unexpected turn when two handsome strangers move into town and begin unearthing other secrets concerning Hope’s future and past, revealing to Hope that her gift for healing may be the fulfillment of an ancient, Japanese prophecy gone wrong.

Staying away from these mysterious newcomers would be the smart thing to do, but Victor’s gentle, easy manner, and Tie’s mixed signals and strange mood swings draw her hopelessly closer to revealing the secret she and her father have been so desperate to hide.

Hope’s life is complicated further with visions of a previous life and the arrival of an unknown enemy sent to assassinate her before she learns what she is truly capable of.

With the support of her father, the fiery loyalty of her best friend Angie, and the child-like love of Kirby, a ten-year-old patient, Hope must fight against the forces of a relentless demon god while unwinding the tangled pieces of her past, proving to herself and those she loves that destiny isn’t determined by some cosmic reading of the stars, but by the individual choices one makes.

Embark upon a journey of heart-stopping adventure in this contemporary young adult paranormal romance filled with mythological creatures, Japanese gods, divine healing powers and a romantic love triangle. A romantic story of love, loss and second chances, this clean teen paranormal romance infuses traditional mythology, fantasy and contemporary themes to create a thrilling story readers are sure to enjoy.

Add in a plane crash as well as hunters out to capture them and the heat is truly on.

Can this Siberian tiger meet the challenge?

A TIGER’S BRIDE is a rip-roaring, good time. Eve Langlaise does it again, and has us rolling on the floor laughing with this installment of the Lion’s Pride series.  It starts up during the wedding of Teena’s sister Meena. Now Dimitri just wants a woman who can breed his strong healthy children. When he sees Teena he knows now his luck is about to change. She is an exact copy of her sister, except she is more demure than her sister. If she did not have bad luck, she would have no luck at all. Now Dimitri is not scared away by her bad luck, for he has enough good luck to help balance it out. For Teena is his, as in his mate. Now he promises that he will not kidnap Teena, but when he tries to call his henchmen and call it off, no one answers. Now they are on a plane to Russia, and Teena is his new bride. She is overjoyed to be married to Dimitri, now if only he would get to the bedding part. Befor that can happen, they have to survive an airplane hi-jacking, kidnapping and being rescued at a castle. Oh, did I leave out the angry Father who wants his baby girl back.  The life of a shifter with no luck. This book had me laughing and feeling sorry for Teena and Dimitri, because all they want is to be married to their mate and get to the bedding. A TIGER’S BRIDE IS AWESOME AND i GIVE IT 5/5 STARS.

REVIEW- BOUNDARY LINES BY MELISSA F. OLSON

boundary linesFitting into the Old World isn’t going very well for Boulder boundary witch Allison “Lex” Luther: she may have earned a place in a vampire’s service, but now it seems as if every supernatural creature in town has found a reason to hate her. And when Lex and her partner are assigned to investigate the suspicious disappearance of two vampires during the night of the full moon, they find themselves with more questions than answers.

Was it murder…or mutiny?

The crusade for answers will lead Lex all over the Colorado Old World, from a prison cell for a broken werewolf to a haunted Denver brothel. And when Lex determines the responsible party, the hunt is just beginning: something has been awakened in Boulder, something as old and powerful as it is terrifying. Only the woman with death in her blood can stop what’s coming.

BOUNDARY LINES grabbed me from the very first. This is the second book in the series, and the first book I have read of the series. I will definitely go back and read the first book. The characters and story very well crafted.  Allison “Lex” Luther is a boundary witch. Her magic deals with the boundary between death and life, and the other witches basically don’t want anything to do with her. They are afraid of what her magic does. Her magic has brought her back from the dead on several occasions. One time when she was younger, she drowned, and her magic brought her back. The most recent was her tour in the middle east in the military, when their convoy was hit by an IED. Everyone died, including her. Now she has to find out why magic has gone wonky in town. She will find out things about herself that she could not remember from her time of the IED attack. I love this book, and I give BOUNDARY LINES 5/5 STARS.

REVIEW -BOOTS AND THE HEARTBREAKER BY MYLA JACKSON

boots and the heartbreaker
In cahoots to break up a romance…they wind up rekindling their own.

Ugly Stick Saloon, Book 11

Colin McFarlan’s back is against the wall. Two brothers have caved to their mother’s threat to sell the ranch if they don’t get married and give her grandkids—now it’s his turn. Too bad the only woman he’s ever loved is the one who came between him and his brother Brody.

When Fancy returns to Temptation, he’s determined to steer clear of the gorgeous real estate agent, who looks good whether dressed up in a pencil skirt or dressed down in cowboy boots.

Fancy Wilson made mistakes. Getting engaged to Brody was the first. Weeping in Colin’s arms—and falling into his bed—on the night she and Brody broke up was the second. She’s not adding to her sins by falling for Colin all over again. She’s had enough heartache.

Yet when Colin asks her to help break up a romance between his mother and the notorious town heartbreaker, she can’t resist. But soon they’re scrambling to undo the damage they’ve done…before it destroys their last chance for happiness.

Warning: Breaking up is hard to do, but reunion sex can be oh, so fine!

BOOTS AND THE HEARTBREAKER is a steamy, quick read. I am loving Myla Jackson’s Ugly Stick Saloon Series! Fancy and Colin have a past between them. Fancy was engaged to Colin’s brother Brody, but when he slept with Fancy, Brody and Fancy broke it off. It also caused a rift between the two brothers that is finally starting to heal. Colin has three weeks to meet his Mom’s ultimatum, to find someone and marry her. The only thing is he wants only Fancy, but he does not want to rock the boat with his brother. He ends up getting with Fancy to help break up his Mom and her Uncle. He thinks that he is only after his Mom for her money. When Colin and Fancy get together it is instant chemistry. They cannot stay away from having sex with each other. There is one really funny spot with the cable guy, and Fancy when she surprises him half naked with a silver vibrator. The way this scene is written had me busting out laughing. I love this book and recommend it to everyone. I give BOOTS AND THE HEARTBREAKER 5/5 SIZZLING STARS.

REVIEW – REAP THE WIND BY KAREN CHANCE

From the New York Times bestselling author of Tempt the Stars comes the latest in the series that’s “well worth getting hooked on”(Fresh Fiction).

You’d think that being chief seer for the supernatural world would come with a few perks. But as Cassie Palmer has learned, being Pythia doesn’t mean you don’t have to do things the hard way. That’s why she finds herself on a rescue mission skipping through time—even though she doesn’t entirely understand her dimension-bending new power.

Rescuing her friend John Pritkin should have been an in-and-out kind of deal, but with the near-immortal mage’s soul lost in time, Cassie has to hunt for it through the ages—with Pritkin’s demon dad in tow. He’s the only one who can reverse Pritkin’s curse, but with the guardians of the timeline dead set on stopping anyone from mucking about, Cassie will have to figure out how to get her friend back without ruffling too many feathers—or causing a world-ending paradox or two….

REAP THE WIND is a roller coaster of a ride! Cassie is the Pythia, but ever since she was chosen, she has no idea what she is doing. Since she  became Pythia, Gods want to return to Earth to wreak havoc, and she has other groups that want to control her. Also she has the other Acolyte’s lead by Myra who wants to kill her so she can be the next Pythia. Right now all she wants to do is save Pritkin and lift he curse. So, to save him she has to go back in time and remove the curse from him. Easy, right? Nothing is easy in Cassie’s world. She will have to time jump many times, and dodge angry Fae and the Pythia of that time. Let’s just say when she gets back to her time, she looks like she was dragged through the mud, more than once. I wonder how she can stay on her feet with all the jumping around, with little sleep and food. If it was me, I would have been killed long ago. Somehow she always wins!! I love this book and series. I give REAP THE WIND 4/5 STARS.
