the last dream keeper cover
In the second Witches of Echo Park novel, one coven must keep the world in balance and stand against a rising darkness.

Lyse MacAllister did not step into an easy role when she took over as master of the Echo Park coven of witches after her great-aunt Eleanora’s death. As she begins to forge the bonds that will help her lead her sisters, she struggles to come to terms with her growing powers. And she soon faces a deadly new threat. A group of fanatics intent on bringing about the end of times has invaded the witches Council—but the Council is turning a blind eye to the danger growing in its midst.

Only one witch is prophesied to be able to stop the encroaching darkness. And if Lyse and her blood sisters are to have any chance at protecting all we know from being lost forever, they must keep her safe—no matter what the cost…

THE LAST DREAM KEEPER is full of magic, intrigue, and action.  I love the characters and the world building. Lyse has taken over the role of leader of the coven, and she has no idea what she is doing. They must keep THE LAST DREAM KEEPER from The New World Order. This book has a lot going on in the book, and it would be easy to get lost. We get to see each members different abilities and how their lives are all intertwined. Some of the Coven members will grow and overcome their fears, disabilities and limitations. While others won’t have no visible growth, or no growth at all.The one character that has a lot of growth is Lizbeth. She has not talked in a long while, since something happened when she was a child. When she comes out of a dream and able to talk, she finds out that she is destined to become THE LAST DREAM KEEPER. I really liked this book and recommend it and the series to everyone. I give this book  4/5 stars.

I have been anticipating FIRE TOUCHED, since I finished NIGHT BROKEN. This book did  not disappoint.  It has action, humor, and lots of Mercy. Patricia Briggs’ character development and world building is awesome. When one of the children of Underhill escape, they must make a bargain with the Fae before they declare war on Mercy’s home town. Aiden is one of the children of Underhill, but when you are in Underhill you will be changed. Aiden is Fire Touched. He is unable to control his fire, and when his emotions are running high, things tend to go up in flame. He is basically an Adult in a child’s body. As usual with Mercy, things have a tendency to go from bad to worse. I love the Mercy universe! If you have not read this series, then I urge you to start  reading it today.  I give FIRE TOUCHED 5/5 STARS.You will be laughing from the first page. Now I have to wait patiently for the next book. Oh, the AGONY!!

REVIEW – THE REBURIALISTS BY J.C. NELSON

the reburialists cover
The author of Wish Bound and the Grimm Agency novels returns with an all-new urban fantasy novel!

Burying the dead is easy. Keeping them down is difficult.

At the Bureau of Special Investigations, agents encounter all sorts of paranormal evils. So for Agent Brynner Carson, driving a stake through a rampaging three-week-old corpse is par for the course. Except this cadaver is different. It’s talking—and it has a message about his father, Heinrich.

The reanimated stiff delivers an ultimatum written in bloody hieroglyphics, and BSI Senior Analyst Grace Roberts is called in to translate. It seems that Heinrich Carson stole the heart of Ra-Ame, the long-dead god of the Re-Animus. She wants it back. The only problem is Heinrich took the secret of its location to his grave.

With the arrival of Ra-Ame looming and her undead army wreaking havoc, Brynner and Grace must race to find the key to stopping her. It’s a race they can’t afford to lose, but then again, it’s just another day on the job . . .

THE REBURIALISTS is a whirlwind of action! J.C. Nelson does a remake on the zombie genre and Egyptian folklore. Brynner Carson is the son of Heinrich Carson, who wrote the book on how to handle a Re-Animus. Grace Roberts is an analyst and a skeptic of magic. When she is partnered with Brynner Carson to study and translate his Father’s journals to find a way to the heart of the Re-ANIMUS. His Father has hidden the heart, and now Brynner must find it the heart of Re-Ame, the daughter of the Pharaoh. They must find this heart to give her eternal death. While doing this Brynner and Grace become very close, and when her life is threatened he has to keep her safe. I loved this book and the characters of Brynner and Grace. I have read J.C. Nelson’s other works and loved them. I like his writing style and the worlds he creates. If you have not read any of J.C. Nelson, I urge you to do so. I give THE REBURIALIST 5/5 STARS.

DARK LORD OF KISMERA is an Amazing! The characters and world building is very well-done, and it balances out the story nicely. I loved the Dragons in the story. They balance out the story beautifully. This book shows that love has no boundaries. Drace is a medieval performer in Las Vegas, and is called the Dark Lord. He is from a different plane than Ki a shape-shifter who turns into a lioness. Now they brought Drace to their plane to help with a threat that will be coming from the South, and he is to help to eliminate the threat. He falls in love with Ki and he thinks everything is going their way. Until he is hurt very badly and the only way to save him is send him back to his plane. Once there he cannot go back.  He will grieve, thinking Ki forever lost to him. He finds someone to help him find a way back. This story is awesome!! It shows that love knows no bounds when you need to find the one you love. There is a lot of action, magic, and folklore in the story. I recommend this book to everyone. TAMARA H. REVIEW – BITTER BITE BY JENNIFER ESTEP

bitter bite
Which is stronger: blood ties or a battle-tested friendship? That’s the question Gin Blanco asks when a friend’s long-lost relative strolls into town. The suspicious reunion is a surprise for everyone—and a big problem for Gin. Book fourteen in the New York Times bestselling urban fantasy series RT Book Reviews calls “unbeatable entertainment!”

It’s not easy being queen bee of an underworld abuzz with crooks and killers. Wielding my potent Ice and Stone elemental magic will only get me so far—my real secret is my tight-knit makeshift family, a motley crew of cops and criminals, dwarves and playboys. My foster-brother Finnegan Lane is my right-hand man, but when his suddenly not-dead relative comes back into the picture, I’m the one on the outside looking in.

It’s funny how life works: one minute your best friend is rock-steady, and the next he’s doe-eyed and buying into this whole loving-relative routine to the point of ignoring you. I’d like to be happy for Finn, I really would. But all of my instincts are telling me that beneath the syrupy sweet demeanor and old-fashioned charm, this sudden interloper is planning something. The whole shtick leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. This person might have avoided the grave once, but I’ll put anyone who hurts Finn in the ground—for good.

How do you tell someone who thought their Mother was dead, but is actually still alive? In BITTER BITE that is just what Gin has to tell Finn. All his life he thought his Mother was dead, but she left him. She was a cold-hearted bitch.  When Finn’s Father leaves a file for Gin to find, she follows the clues that leads her to the truth. Before she can let Finn know that his Mother is alive, she walks back into his life. Now, what does his Mother really want? Well, like everyone else they want Rule Ashland’s underworld. Gin now controls Ashland and Finn’s Mother wants to kill Gin to gain control. The best way to do this is to get in the good with her baby boy. Cause dissension between Gin and Finn and watch everything tumble. Looks good on paper, right? Only, Gin will do everything in her power to pull the blinders off Finn and expose his Mother as the cold-hearted bitch that never loved him in the first place. I love Gin and the rest of the gang in this series. If you have not started to read it, trust me start today. I loved this story and cannot wait to see what is next. I give BITTER BITE 5/5 STARS.
