REVIEW – BLOOD SLAVE BY KATHLEEN COLLINS

blood slave
Can she find a killer in a town where the basest desires are allowed to run free?

There are zombies in the Dead Zone and Juliana Norris is sent to take care of the problem. And for there to be zombies, there had to be bodies. When vampires are found to be the culprits, Juliana is sent undercover in the red light district of Kansas City. Lying to her mate, Thomas Kendrick, isn’t something she wants to do, but she’s in another vampire’s territory and Thomas would not be pleased. Besides, she’s more than capable of doing the job and she needs to prove it to everyone. Most of all herself.

Charles Morgan is in control of the Kansas City area, making a rich living off his various enterprises. Juliana goes undercover at the strip club Lust and gets sucked into his dark, decadent world. More victims turn up and the Agency is positive they’ve got their man, but Juliana is not so sure. When the Agency refuses to listen, she reluctantly turns to Thomas for help. He intervenes but finds Juliana unaware of the danger she is in and discovers she may just be too deep for him to save.

Juliana is at it again in BLOOD SLAVE. Bodies are showing up in the Dead Zone and they are rising again as  Zombies along with a Zombie Pomeranian.  They trace the bodies to a town in the Mid West, Kansas City. Now Juliana and Nathaniel are going undercover in Kansas City to see who is involved in these deaths. She will have to do it without telling Thomas, because it is in a rival Vampires town. He would want to follow the rules in dealing with another Vampire Boss, but when things go wrong she has to tell Thomas so she can nab the killer. This will put her in a situation in which might end up turning her into a blood slave. This is such a great series and cannot wait for more.I recommend this book to everyone, and I give BLOOD SLAVE 5/5 STARS.

PARANORMAL ROMANCE -“SOMETHING ABOUT HARRY” BY DAKOTA CASSIDY

something about harry by dakota cassidy
Book Description
Publication Date: December 3, 2013
From national bestselling author Dakota Cassidy comes the latest in the series that “gets better and better with each book.” (Bitten by Books)

He’s in a furry situation.

Accountant Harry Ralph Emerson has always been a by-the-numbers kind of guy. But when he finds himself trapped at work sprouting an obscene amount of hair, he knows his odds for maintaining normalcy are zero to none. After a frantic internet search, Harry goes through the OOPS—Out in the Open Paranormal Support—checklist and comes to a disheartening conclusion: He’s turning into a werewolf and he needs help ASAP.

She might be the only solution.

Werewolf Mara Flaherty has long carried a torch for Pack Cosmetics’s sexy single accountant, even after her attempt to seduce him went down in flames. When her sister-in-law, Marty, shows up to handle Harry’s OOPS emergency, she tasks Mara with showing the hirsute hottie the ropes. But Mara knows Harry’s condition is a result of her lab experiment gone wrong—and the previously mild-mannered object of her affection is about to give her a piece of his mind…

SOMETHING ABOUT HARRY had me in stitches with all the guest appearances of Nina, Wanda, and Marty. Harry is accidentally  turned into a werewolf and Mara believes that she did it with her baby making serum that she put into a vitamin water bottle. This starts with a call to OOPS, where Nina answers. This is a funny conversation in which She tries to determine if he really has been turned into a werewolf. One quote that I like is this one, “Meaning, I’m the paranormal crypt keeper, and if you piss me off, I’ll throw the key into the crypt in the goddamned Hudson.”

After that they start calling Nina the crypt keeper. Harry is the guardian of his sister’s two kids, and he tries to make it as normal as possible while he turns into a werewolf. This book has so many off-the-wall scenes that will have you rolling on the floor laughing. I really enjoyed  this book and cannot wait until the next one. I give SOMETHING ABOUT HARRY 5/5 stars.

REVIEW “VAMPIRES NOT INVITED” BY CHEYENNE McCREY

VAMPIRES NOT INVITED

Book Description

Publication Date: November 30, 2010

New York Times bestselling author Cheyenne McCray sets the night on fire in her blazing-hot Night Tracker series—where the fangs come out when the sun goes down…

Vampire attacks are on the rise in the city that never sleeps. So why is half-human, half-Drow private eye Nyx tracking down Sprites? Sure, these “young bloods” are causing mischief all over town—like painting the Statue of Liberty’s toenails neon pink. But it’s not until Nyx finds herself at the Pit, Manhattan’s hottest nightclub for paranorms, that she understands what she’s really up against…

Seems Master Vampire Volod has a plan—and the Sprites are in on it. By targeting the weaknesses of every paranorm in the city, from Elves to Shifters to Zombies, Volod and his fang gang aim to rule the night once and for all. Over Nyx’s dead body. She loves a good challenge—and she will seduce danger at every turn to throw Volod off course. It’s time for Nyx to enter the beating heart of this dark conspiracy…before driving a stake through it.

I loved this book, the world building, the characters. Master Vampire Volod wants to rule nocturnal New York and the prominence that they once held. The vampire hires the sprites to cause destruction and pull pranks, while the vampires go ahead with their plan to take out the other paranormal species. This is a fast paced book with many twists and turns. I give this a 4/5 stars.
