Ghoulies. Ghosties. Long-legged beasties. Things that go bump in the night… The Price family has spent generations studying the monsters of the world, working to protect them from humanity-and humanity from them. Enter Verity Price. Despite being trained from birth as a cryptozoologist, she’d rather dance a tango than tangle with a demon, and is spending a year in Manhattan while she pursues her career in professional ballroom dance. Sounds pretty simple, right? It would be, if it weren’t for the talking mice, the telepathic mathematicians, the asbestos supermodels, and the trained monster-hunter sent by the Price family’s old enemies, the Covenant of St. George. When a Price girl meets a Covenant boy, high stakes, high heels, and a lot of collateral damage are almost guaranteed. To complicate matters further, local cryptids are disappearing, strange lizard-men are appearing in the sewers, and someone’s spreading rumors about a dragon sleeping underneath the city..

This is the first book in the Incryptid series. Seanan McGuire really knows how to do world building and character development. I love the character of Verity Price. Her family has given her one year to make it as a dancer and to decide if she wants to continue or if she wants to be in the family business of being a cryptozoologist. This book is action packed, has talking mice, what more would you want. Oh yeah and a little romance. With monsters and mayhem you get a bunch of crazy Scooby action as things quickly spiral out of control. I give this book a 5/ 5 stars.
This is book 2 of THEINCRYPTIDNOVELS. THE CREATURES THAT YOUR MOM TOLD YOU THAT GO BUMP IN THE NIGHT, ARE REAL. Verity Price moved to New York to make it as a dancer. The Price’s have studies monsters for generations, and her father has given her a year to make it as a dancer or come back home and continue in what the Price’s have done for generations.
When a snake cult starts killing virgins all over Manhattan, Verity’s on-again off-again boyfriend Dominic De Luca, that the Covenant of St. George is on their way to assess the city’s readiness for a cryptid purge. When the price family did not follow the Covenant’s orders and destroy the cryptids, they were banished and a price was put on their head.
Now Verity has to save the cryptids from the Covenant, destroy the snake cult, and stay out of the line of sight of the Covenant.
This is a really good series with a lot of laughs to go with it. I really love the talking mice, they steal the show. I give this book a 5/ 5 stars.
