REVIEW – MARKED IN FLESH BY ANNE BISHOP

marked in flesh cover
For centuries, the Others and humans have lived side by side in uneasy peace. But when humankind oversteps its bounds, the Others will have to decide how much humanity they’re willing to tolerate—both within themselves and within their community…

Since the Others allied themselves with the cassandra sangue, the fragile yet powerful human blood prophets who were being exploited by their own kind, the delicate dynamic between humans and Others changed. Some, like Simon Wolfgard, wolf shifter and leader of the Lakeside Courtyard, and blood prophet Meg Corbyn, see the new, closer companionship as beneficial—both personally and practically.

But not everyone is convinced. A group of radical humans is seeking to usurp land through a series of violent attacks on the Others. What they don’t realize is that there are older and more dangerous forces than shifters and vampires protecting the land that belongs to the Others—and those forces are willing to do whatever is necessary to protect what is theirs…

I was given a copy of this book by Netgalley for an honest review.

MARKED IN FLESH is full of suspense, intrigue that will have you on the edge of your seat. I love the characters and the world building. Some of my favorite characters are, Tess, Meg, Sam and Simon. In this series, each book gets darker as the story progresses.  The Human First and Last movement continues with their plan to eradicate the Others and take their land so they will have more for the Humans. The others fight back by attacking their shipping vessels and any shipments by land, to show them that they are not in charge of things. The HFL  (Human First and Last) starts to attack settlements of Others, and this enrages the Others. They have warned them, but as always the Humans do not listen! They do not learn from their past when this happened before. The others eradicated off their land before. Now, things are escalating and Simon and Meg has to figure out who they need to save once the cleansing gets started. This shows how greed can be the down fall of civilizations, and how that ignoring the past, we are doomed to repeat our mistakes. I loved this story and series, and recommend it to everyone. I give MARKED IN FLESH 5.5 STARS.
