Book Description

         Publication Date:         May 31, 2005

Eve Levine – half-demon, black witch and devoted mother – has been dead for three years. She has a great house, an interesting love life and can’t be killed again – which comes in handy when you’ve made as many enemies as Eve. Yes, the afterlife isn’t too bad – all she needs to do is find a way to communicate with her daughter Savannah and she’ll be happy. But fate – or more exactly, the Fates – have other plans. Eve owes them a favour, and they’ve just called it in. An evil spirit called the Nix has escaped from hell. She feeds on chaos and death, and is very good at persuading people to kill for her. The Fates want Eve to hunt her down before she does any more damage, but the Nix is a dangerous enemy – previous hunters have been sent mad in the process. As if that’s not problem enough, it turns out that the only way to stop her is with an angel’s sword. And Eve’s no angel….

Haunted is a great book, with a well-developed story line and characters. In this story we get Eve’s story. Eve is a ghost and she has been watching over her daughter. Eve has been chosen by the Fates to  bring back an evil spirit called the Nix who has escaped the afterlife. She is reunited with Savannah’s father  Kristof, when Savannah is targeted by the Nix. You will learn the back story that caused Eves death., and why she owes the Fates a favor. This story has a lot of twists and turns, and you will see characters from other books. Paige and Lucas also help out. I give this book 5/ 5 stars, and I recommend this book to everyone.

DIME STORE MAGIC BY KELLY ARMSTRONG

dime store magic

Paige Winterbourne was always either too young or too rebellious to succeed her mother as leader of one of the world’s most powerful elite organizations—the American Coven of Witches. Now that she is twenty-three and her mother is dead, the Elders can no longer deny her.  But even Paige’s wildest antics can’t hold a candle to those of her new charge—an orphan who is all too willing to use her budding powers for evil…and evil is all too willing to claim her. For this girl is being pursued by a dark faction of the supernatural underworld. They are a vicious group who will do anything to woo the young, malleable, and extremely powerful neophyte, including commit murder—and frame Paige for the crime. It’s an initiation into adulthood, womanhood, and the brutal side of magic that Paige will have to do everything within her power to make sure they both survive.

Dime Store Magic is well written with characters that are well-developed and that are able to help move the story along. Paige Winterborne is a witch and has recently inherited her mother’s role as leader of the American Coven of Witches. Paige has recently  been given custody of a 13-year-old angry witch whose mother has been known to dabble in black magic. She was kidnapped along with her mother Eve who was later killed. Lucas Cortez a nerdy sorcerer lawyer helps Paige to keep Savannah safe while keeping his hands off the delectable Paige. The sparks and looks between Paige and Lucas are very hot. Savannah is also a very powerful witch that one day will be a witch to be reckoned with. The action in this been is very fast paced. There is also demons, and vampires making an appearance. I really likes Dime Store Magic and I give it 5/5 stars.

SAVING SAVANNAH BY SANDRA HILL WILL SHE BE SAVED?

SAVING SAVANNAH

Book Description

Publication Date: September 30, 2013

When Tante Lulu decides to matchmaker, matches are made. But this time, her meddling Cajun charm will be put to the test . . .

For five years Savannah Jones thought Special Forces Captain Matthew Carrington died in Afghanistan. For five years he thought she’d rejected him—thanks to his mother’s interception of the letter she wrote to him as he left on his tour of duty. Now she’s struggling to re-build a life for herself and their daughter, Katie, despite the devastation Katrina wrought on New Orleans. Thanks to Tante Lulu and her police-officer great-nephew, Tee-John, Savannah and Matthew are about to be reunited. Will Tante Lulu’s bayou wisdom and sassy attitude be able to turn their broken relationship into a loving gumbo?

Sandra Hill is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of more than thirty romantic humor novels. Whether they be historicals, contemporaries, time travels, or Christmas novellas, whether they be about Vikings, Cajuns, Navy SEALs or sexy Santas, the common element in all her books is humor. It’s been said that love makes the world go ’round, but in Sandra’s world, love with a dash of laughter, makes it spin.

I WAS GIVEN THIS BOOK BY NET GALLEY FOR AN HONEST REVIEW.
I love Tante Lulu with her busy body ways and her outrageous fashion sense. She always wants to help people by way of St. Jude. She believes he is pointing her in the direction to someone who needs her help. In this case she is it is Savannah and Katie who lives in their car. Savannah believes that her fiancé Matt is dead for the past 6 years. At least that is what his snooty mother tells her. Savannah was never good enough for her son; she was not born of their social class. She was found on the steps of a church and later adopted by loving parents.
When Matt asked her to marry her before he was deployed to Afghanistan she was ecstatic, but she was never able to tell him she was pregnant before he was MIA. So for 6 years she tought he was dead and now Tante Lulu has to reunite the loving couple before savannah runs off to Alaska with Katie and Matt loses her again. This is a story of families butting in where they shouldn’t and hurting a relationship and true love. Also denying a child the love of a father and the love of grandparents all because they think they are too good for them. Social class is nothing, but family is everything. When you have the love of family, you are richer for it.

I loved the story line and the character development of this story, and also seeing characters from past books. Everybody needs a Tante Lulu in their family. Somebody that is their willing to help, no questions asked (well with her there is always questions asked). Matt and Savannah were happy together, they didn’t care about social standing. All they cared about is that they loved each other, until his mother stepped in and told Savannah he was dead. I loved this story so I gave it a 5 /5 stars.
