As the holidays get closer, and the stress gets higher we all try to make the perfect holiday for our family. I wonder what everyone else does for their holiday traditions. When I was younger and there was more children around and everyone gathered at Grandma’s house, we would choose names out of a hat and buy a present for that kid. We would celebrate Christmas Eve and exchange presents. Now we spend Christmas Day with my sister and brother and their family. We either have breakfast or lunch together depending how early everyone gets up. We don’t cook anything extravagant. We normally cook soup, chili, or some other meal.
We sit around play games, let the kids play their video games, sing, play guitars, watch movies, just have family time. The holidays are for family’s, not about the material things. If you have family you have everything. I have not even bought one thing for Christmas right now I don’t have the money for it , because of the unexpected medical cost on my knee. Plus having to take off from work and only getting part of my check. To me this year my Christmas gift is that I still have my Grandmother, and that is all that I need. So let me know what you do to celebrate the holidays?
It’s the one day each year when being single is a sin . . .
The Trouble With Valentine’s Day?
It just plain stinks!
Kate Hamilton should know. Dumped by her boyfriend, burnt out by her job, she’s returned to Gospel, Idaho, where a Mountain Momma Crafters’ original poetry reading is about as good as it gets on a Friday night. Then her first attempted seduction of a hunky stranger is completely rejected. So much for her self-esteem!
It turns out that Rob Sutter, former ice hockey madman, owner of Sutter’s Sports—and the hunky stranger who told her to get lost—has been more than burned by love and isn’t looking for a relationship. But then he and Kate find themselves in an ultra-compromising position in the M&S Market after-hours, giving the phrase “clean up in aisle five” a whole new meaning, and causing a whole lot of gossip in Gospel . .

Rob meets Kate one night on the road during the blizzard at a hotel. He has sworn off of one night stands, so when Kate sees him and they get to talking and she asks him to her room for the night. He refuses, this just puts the icing on the cake of a really bad week for her. She can’t even get a one night stand in a blizzard on Valentines Day, her life really sucks right now.
A few weeks later Kate moves to Idaho to help her widowed Grandfather run his grocery store. She runs into Rob, who owns the sporting goods store across the street and has been watching out for her Grandfather. The story line and the characters were well-developed. This was a fun, fast-paced romance, with moments of humor that had you laughing. I really enjoyed The Trouble With Valentines Day By Rachel Gibson, and I give it 5/5 stars.
I can’t believe it either. Where has this year gone? Just thinking about it has my head hurting, because not only do I have to buy Christmas . I still have 10 birthdays between now and December to buy for. I have 1 birthday on October 31, Nov, 9,10, 15, 2 on Nov. 19, Dec. 6, 9, 13, 15, then Christmas. I basically stay broke from this time until the new year. I guess that is why my Mom hates the holidays. I am starting to get that Bah humbug feeling, especially now that I know I need knee surgery and the doctor wants to wait until I lose about 50-60 pounds.
That is about how much I lost in about 2 years, so I hope it wont be 2 years before I have knee surgery. I don’t think I can last that long. Maybe with physical therapy starting Monday, that will be my Christmas present, knee surgery. Has anyone started shopping yet for Christmas, or are many of you last-minute shoppers. last year I had most of my shopping just about done, but this year I have not even started shopping. Maybe I will get them all an Amazon gift card and let them get what they want. That way I don’t have to deal with the crowds. I work for a major retailer and it is crazy during the holiday and I try not to shop when I get off work.
I just want to get out of there and get home. For some reason the holidays brings out the worst in people. People who are normally nice the rest of the year are down right witches( you can replace the w with a b ) it is really scary. So I suggest if you don’t want to be part of the scary crowd, start your shopping now, and order online. It will definitely save you some headaches later. I know I will.
