THE BEAST IN HIM BY SHELLY LAURENSTON

the beast in himbuyamzon-button-plainBook Description

         Publication Date:         April 1, 2008
In The Mane Event, Shelly Laurenston introduced a whole new breed of heroes—sexy, shape-shifting hunks who redefine the term Alpha male. Now, in THE BEAST IN HIM, one gorgeous lone wolf is about to meet his match…Some things are so worth waiting for. Like the moment when Jessica Ward “accidentally” bumps into Bobby Ray Smith and shows him just how far she’s come since high school. Back then, Jess’s gangly limbs and bruised heart turned to jelly any time Smitty’s “all the better to ravish you with” body came near her. So, some things haven’t changed. Except now Jess is a success on her own terms. And she can enjoy a romp—or twenty—with a big, bad wolf and walk away. Easy.

The sexy, polished CEO who hires Smitty’s security firm might be a million miles from the lovable geek he knew, but her kiss, her touch, is every bit as hot as he imagined. Jess was never the kind to ask for help, and she doesn’t want it now, not even with someone targeting her Pack. But Smitty’s not going to turn tail and run. Not before proving that their sheet-scorching animal lust is only the start of something even wilder…

I loved The Beast In Him, it was well written with well-developed characters and story line.  Anything Shelly Laurenston writes is a keeper. Smitty or Bobby Ray Smith and Jesse Ann have a past together. They have known each other while growing up. They were friends, and Smitty always came to her rescue when she was picked on and beat up. Now they meet again when Smitty’s company is doing the security for Jesse’s party which she is throwing for her company, in which she is CEO of a security system company.  He wants to be friends again and she does not want have anything to do with him.  Jesse has been in love with Smitty, but when he left town and did not even kiss her goodbye hurt her worse than anything could. Now he has to try to convince her that he wants her, and loves her. I loved all the chaos that Jesse Ann lives in, because she has no privacy or solitude to herself. There is always someone underfoot and it makes or some pretty humorous situations. There are parts where they are being attacked and there is some funny dialogue going on. Be warned  when you read this you will laugh quite a bit, so keep any liquids away from any electronic devices in case you spill your drink while laughing. I give The Beast In Him 5/5 stars.

THE MANE EVENT BY SHELLY LAURENSTON

Book Descriptionthe mane event

         Publication Date:         September 25, 2009
Mace Llewellyn. Brendon Shaw. Two tall, gorgeous, sexy alpha heroes who are 100% male—with a little something extra. Lion-shifters, to be exact, who can unleash every woman’s animal side and still look good—make that spectacular—in a suit…and even better out of it…NYPD cop Desiree “Dez” MacDermot knows she’s changed a lot since she palled around with her childhood buddy, Mace. But it’s fair to say that Mace has changed even more. It isn’t just those too-sexy gold eyes, or the six-four, built-like-a-Navy Seal body. It’s something in the way he sniffs her neck and purrs, making her entire body tingle… Meanwhile, for Tennessean Ronnie Lee Reed, New York City is the place where any girl—even one who runs with a Pack—can redefine herself. First order of business: find a mate, settle down, and stop using men for sex. Even big, gorgeous, lion shifter men like Brendon Shaw. But she needn’t worry, because now that Brendon’s set his sights on her, the predator in him is ready to pounce and never let go…BOOK DESCRIPTION COURTESY OF AMAZON

I always love a story by Shelly Laurenston, and The Mane Event was definitely one of them. This book actually has two stories in it, and are both doubly hilarious. She knows how to create characters and story lines that work well in creating maximum laughs. The first story centers on  Desiree “Dez” MacDermot who is a NYPD cop and Mace Llewellyn a shifter who turns into a lion. Dez is a strong female character and is a great mate for the king of beasts. Mace remembers Dez from school and believes she is the one for him.  Which is great now that his family wants him to take on more responsibilities in the pride. When Mace and Dez get together, you better have a cold shower nearby for you will definitely need it. Hot, hot, hot……..Also for the laugh factor make sure you don’t drink and read, because you will definitely be spraying the furniture and anyone in the immediate area. I know I did.

Now for the next story, we have Brendon Shaw and Ronnie Lee Reed. Ronnie is a shape shifting wolf and she takes Brendon Shaw to her Aunts to let Brendon heal after he was beaten by a group of shape shifting wolves. When the fever comes upon Brendon , Ronnie has to do everything within her power to keep him in the house. When she goes back upstairs to check on him he is gone. She rushes outside and there he is in all his lion glory, dancing? Yep, he is dancing the mambo, swaying back and forth. When I read the dancing scene I died laughing. When Brendon Shaw wakes up the next day he wants to find the woman who he was kissing last night and make her his. I loved both of these stories, because the women in them gave the men a run for their money. They  just didn’t let them catch them, they had to work for it.  I give The Mane Event 5/5 stars for all the belly laughs. I recommend this book for everyone.

CHEYENNE McCRAY “VAMPIRES DEAD AHEAD” REVIEW

vampires dead ahead

Book Description

         Publication Date:         November 29, 2011

With zero tolerance for bloodsuckers, Nyx and the Trackers have made the streets safer for warm-blooded New Yorkers. Unfortunately, they didn’t drive a stake through the problem nationwide. Vampire attacks are on the rise. Proctors are dropping like flies. And Volod—New York’s ousted Master Vampire—is trying to make a comeback…

Nyx is worried—about her city, her job, and her neck. But mostly she’s concerned about her former lover, Rodán, a Proctor who’s gone missing. Scarier still, Volod is capturing and “turning” paranorms to help him paint the town red. Which sucks. Because some of these new vampires are Nyx’s old friends. But hey—if she can stake them here, she’ll stake them anywhere

BOOK DESCRIPTION COURTESY OF AMAZON

This is a fast paced, page turner. The characters and the story line is great. Volod makes a great villain. When someone very close to Nyx is taken, things quickly escalate to code red. Colin is one hot dragon, and I want one for Christmas, please Santa? I hope she will continue this series. I would recommend this to anyone. I give this a 5/ 5 stars.

CHEYENNE McCRAY “ZOMBIES SOLD SEPERATELY” REVIEW

zombies sold seperately

Book Description

Publication Date:May 24, 2011

Nyx hates Zombies. Seriously. Hates. Zombies. Ever since she was a youngling, she’s been haunted by them. And even though she’s a big girl now—a half-human, half-Drow private eye, to be precise—Nyx bristles at the mere thought of the walking dead.

Meanwhile, the corpses of humans and paranorms alike are turning up all over New York City. Now it’s up to Nyx to find out who—or what—is behind this series of horrific attacks. But it’s only a matter of time before Nyx is drawn deeper into her darkest fears…and her worst nightmare about meeting a real, flesh-and-blood-hungry, body-snatching Zombie comes blindingly to life. Or death…

Nyx faces her most terrifying case yet in Zombies Sold Separately–a Night Tracker Novel from bestselling author Cheyenne McCray.

BOOK DESCRIPTION COURTESEY AMAZON

I love books with zombies in them, and being paired up with a Cheyenne McCrey book makes it even better.  She knows how to develop a story line and her characters that they both blend together and make this amazing story that pulls you into a world that won’t let you go until you finish the  very last page. The character of Nyx saw her brother taken by zombies when she was younger. He went to fight them with the other dark drow and was never seen again. That day has haunted her since. Now her nightmare is back, and they are filtering into her world and she has to find out who is controlling them. I loved this book and I give this boo 5/ 5 stars.

REVIEW “VAMPIRES NOT INVITED” BY CHEYENNE McCREY

VAMPIRES NOT INVITED

Book Description

Publication Date: November 30, 2010

New York Times bestselling author Cheyenne McCray sets the night on fire in her blazing-hot Night Tracker series—where the fangs come out when the sun goes down…

Vampire attacks are on the rise in the city that never sleeps. So why is half-human, half-Drow private eye Nyx tracking down Sprites? Sure, these “young bloods” are causing mischief all over town—like painting the Statue of Liberty’s toenails neon pink. But it’s not until Nyx finds herself at the Pit, Manhattan’s hottest nightclub for paranorms, that she understands what she’s really up against…

Seems Master Vampire Volod has a plan—and the Sprites are in on it. By targeting the weaknesses of every paranorm in the city, from Elves to Shifters to Zombies, Volod and his fang gang aim to rule the night once and for all. Over Nyx’s dead body. She loves a good challenge—and she will seduce danger at every turn to throw Volod off course. It’s time for Nyx to enter the beating heart of this dark conspiracy…before driving a stake through it.

BOOK DESCRIPTION COURTESY OF AMAZON

I loved this book, the world building, the characters. Master Vampire Volod wants to rule nocturnal New York and the prominence that they once held. The vampire hires the sprites to cause destruction and pull pranks, while the vampires go ahead with their plan to take out the other paranormal species. This is a fast paced book with many twists and turns. I give this a 4/5 stars.
