THE MADNESS OF LORD IAN MacKENZIE BY JENNIFER ASHLEY

The Madness Of of Lord Ian MacKenzie

It was whispered all through London Society that Ian Mackenzie was mad, that he’d spent his youth in an asylum, and was not to be trusted-especially with a lady. Yet Beth found herself inexorably drawn to the Scottish lord. Despite his decadence and his intimidating intelligence, she could see that he needed help- her help. Because suddenly the only thing that made sense to her was…the madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie.

I loved this book. The characters and story line was well-developed. Jennifer Ashley did a very good job of portraying the way society treated those whose had disabilities that they did not understand in that time. He spent his youth in an asylum, until his brother freed him after their father died. Now he has met Beth who he warns not to marry her fiancée and then asks her to marry him. For some reason she is drawn to Lord Ian MacKenzie. This is a dark, passionate story, that at times just pulls at your heart. You see that people truly don’t understand what they are going through, and all that they see is someone who is strange and dysfunctional. It is hard to see someone who has autism go through this and not be able to help them sometimes. When we go out to eat and my niece does not bring her headphones, you can see her get more anxious around crowds. The music calms her.

I can actually relate with what Lord Ian MacKenzie is going through. So I give The Madness of Lord Ian MacKenzie 4/5 stars.

IT IS HARD BEING THE ONLY SANE PERSON IN AN INSANE FAMILY

There are times that my family just drives me totally crazy. If you don’t give them your 100% total attention, it is like starting world war 3. First starts the ranting and raving. Then starts remarks that “I will just get rid of the computers, and the games, and I might get some work out of you.” I am a very quiet person, I don’t like to talk much, my mom and sister does enough of that for three people. Some days it is hard to follow their conversations anyway. I swear they are ADHD, they bounce around talking about 12 different topics at once. I have become very good a tuning them out, otherwise I would be a raving lunatic.

Then there is the loaded question of do you want to go with me to the store or what ever other place they want to go. If you don’t jump up right then and there, you will never hear the end of it. “Well I don’t need anyone to go with me!” Well if you didn’t need anyone, why did you ask?  Some days I just don’t want to get out of bed, because I don’t know what day I am in for.  Maybe that is why I am on medication and they are not? Maybe I need to become insane also. That must be the key to not needing medication, become insane.
