BOOK REVIEW- DEVIL’S DAUGHTER BY Hope Schenk-de Michele & Paul Marquez

devil's daughter
Lucinda is as old as humanity itself, yet perpetually young, beautiful, and endowed with supernatural powers. She lives a double life—human and immortal. Born out of a betrayal of trust between the first woman, Eve, and father, Lucifer, Lucinda has worked covertly and subtly for millennia to be true to her mother’s love by subverting her father’s schemes. In her human guise, she manages Lucinda’s Pawnshop & Antiquary, the doors of which can open to any street anywhere in the world at any time. Mortals who have arrived at a moral or spiritual crossroads are drawn into the mysterious shop. If they acquire one of its cursed artifacts, they may find themselves drafted into Lucifer’s service. And if the Devil‘s daughter will not love a man he can control, can Lucifer control the man she loves?

DEVIL’S DAUGHTER  is a fresh look at good versus evil. Lucinda is the Daughter of Lucifer and Eve. Lucinda owns a pawn shop that she acquires items for Lucifer that holds the spirit of evil in each item. Now Lucifer wants her to help him with his current project.  To help him set up each domino, and when they are all in place, he will watch them fall. Causing Death and destruction all around. Lucinda has other Ideas. She is part human, and possess free will. She does not like what she does for Lucifer and will throw a wrench in his plans, thwarting everything that he has planned.  The characters and story line are very well-developed and believable. I recommend this book to everyone. I cannot wait until the next to see what happens. I give DEVIL’S DAUGHTER 4/5 STARS.

I WAS GIVEN A COPY OF THIS BOOK BY THE AUTHOR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

THE VOICE IN MY EAR has a very well-written story line, with likable and believable characters. This book is a fast read and the snarky dialogue was great. The mystery of what happened to Zack is puzzling and what happened in the missing blocks of memory. When Zack wakes up in the hospital with a strange tattoo, that is the tip of the iceberg of strangeness.  He starts to hear a voice in his ear.  Layla the tattoo and the voice will help Zack unravel what happened to him. I loved this book and will definitely read more of Ken Newman. I recommend you to pick up this book, you will not be disappointed. I give THE VOICE IN MY EAR  4/ 5 stars.

Hounded by tentacled monsters, a rogue shapeshifter, and a tenacious blogger, Maddy turns to her most powerful ally, her uncle Daharan, only to find him missing.

Just when it seems like things can’t get any worse, Maddy gets an invitation in the mail—to Lucifer’s wedding. Turns out everyone has been invited, friends and enemies alike. And with that kind of guest list, it’s highly unlikely there will be a happily ever after.

EVERYONE DESERVES A SECOND CHANCE. BRYNNA MALAK MIGHT BE THE EXCEPTION TO THE RULE.
Brynna is a fallen angel trying to earn redemption. She’s escaped from Hell in search of a new life on Earth, but Lucifer’s deadliest hunters are hot on her trail. Police Detective Eran Redmond is after her for a different reason: he needs Brynna to help him find a serial killer who is terrifying Chicago . . . and the trail leads them right to Hellspawned demons of the most dangerous kind. She’s also got a very human problem: dealing with a stubborn, attractive cop who makes her long for everything she knows she can’t have.
Staying alive long enough to earn a shot at Heaven will mean breaking some major rules in the mortal world, as she learns just how complicated and wonderful being human can be. With so much stacked against her, even Brynna has to wonder if she’s crazy. But she’s not giving in without a fight.
Not a chance in Hell. . . .

This is a richly layered story, different from some that I have read. Brynna is a fallen angel seeking redemption. She escapes Hell to Earth so she can redeem herself to God and return to Heaven. On Earth she meets Eran Redmond, a cop,  who deal with her because she is a witness to a murder on her first day on Earth.
Once the pace picks up it is an excellent read.
The story and the characters just pull you in. There is two books in the series, and I hope there will be more. I loved this story line. I give it a 4/ 5 stars just because it took it a little to pick up the pace of the story.
Here is the second book in the series.
