In her human guise, she manages Lucinda’s Pawnshop & Antiquary, the doors of which can open to any street anywhere in the world at any time. Mortals who have arrived at a moral or spiritual crossroads are drawn into the mysterious shop. If they acquire one of its cursed artifacts, they may find themselves drafted into Lucifer’s service. I WAS GIVEN A COPY OF THIS BOOK BY THE AUTHOR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
THE VOICE IN MY EAR has a very well-written story line, with likable and believable characters. This book is a fast read and the snarky dialogue was great. The mystery of what happened to Zack is puzzling and what happened in the missing blocks of memory. When Zack wakes up in the hospital with a strange tattoo, that is the tip of the iceberg of strangeness. He starts to hear a voice in his ear. Layla the tattoo and the voice will help Zack unravel what happened to him. I loved this book and will definitely read more of Ken Newman. I recommend you to pick up this book, you will not be disappointed. I give THE VOICE IN MY EAR 4/ 5 stars.

A former Agent of death, Madeline Black now has everything to live for, most importantly, her unborn child. But Chicago has become ground zero in a struggle between ancient creatures, and only Maddy can stop the carnage…
The mayor of Chicago has announced a plan to round up the city’s supernatural beings and put them in camps. With her due date looming, Maddy’s best move would be to lay low for a while. But not everyone is willing to respect her privacy. Hounded by tentacled monsters, a rogue shapeshifter, and a tenacious blogger, Maddy turns to her most powerful ally, her uncle Daharan, only to find him missing.
Just when it seems like things can’t get any worse, Maddy gets an invitation in the mail—to Lucifer’s wedding. Turns out everyone has been invited, friends and enemies alike. And with that kind of guest list, it’s highly unlikely there will be a happily ever after.
This is the final book in the series for now. Maddie‘s belly keeps growing during her pregnancy, and she occasionally forgets to eat. This is because when it seems that she is going to have a break in the fighting, ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE. Seriously. Dear old Grandpa(Lucifer) has demanded that Maddie and friends to attend his wedding to Evangeline. It’s not like she is in the middle of saving all humanity. When they get there Evangeline visits Maddie’s room and someone pretending to be Maddie kills her. Maddie saves Evangeline’s child and then is accused by dear old Grandpa of murdering her. She is thrown into the dungeon and now has to try to escape so he will not be able to take her child when it is born. When she is breaking out of the dungeon with her friends, she goes into labor. Now everyone has to get Maddie away from grandpa so he will not get his hands on Maddie’s baby. They take a portal back home, where Maddie and baby are safe. BLACK SPRING is a delightful read with snarky humor and non-stop action. It has well-developed characters and a great story line. Now I will have to pray that later Christina Henry will continue the series at a later date. I give BLACK SPRING 5/5 stars.
As a former Agent of Death, Madeline Black is no stranger to witnessing violent ends. But being the one to cause them is an entirely different story…
Despite her having saved Chicago from a vampire invasion, the Agency wants to get Maddy off their payroll—permanently. With the deadly Retrievers hot on her trail, she has no choice but to trust Nathaniel to port her to safety. But even the exotic and dangerous world that she winds up in is not as peaceful as she would have hoped. Caught in a turf war between a group of fae and a disturbingly familiar foe, Maddy soon discovers that the twisted plots of her grandfather, Lucifer, and his brothers extend even into this unknown realm.
Now, with enemies gathering on all sides, Maddy’s fate is looking darker than ever. And to protect her unborn son from her adversaries, she may have to tap into a power she hoped never to access…
I was given this book by Net Galley for an honest review.
Black Heart is a fast paced, roller-coaster ride of a book. The character development and story line are very well done. For most of the book it is jus Maddy on another world. She was sent there by Nathaniel when the retrievers were sent after her by the Agency. She realizes that she is truly alone, and tries to find her way back to her world. In trying to locate the portal she has to destroy a threat that she has encountered before, the Cimic. In doing so she comes across her Uncle Daharan in his dragon form. She does not know why , but she feels a connection with him. When she returns to Chicago she has no homed to return to, for the retrievers have burned it down. J.B. finds her and takes her to his place. Things go horribly wrong from there very fast, and Maddy does not know who to trust anymore. She does not know who is behind the new threat, but now she has to kill Queen Titania before she kills her.
Maddy now has to embrace the darkness inside herself to kill one of the oldest Fae, otherwise Queen Titania will kill her and raise her son and teach him to hate her. After she kills the Queen, the Agency sends the retrievers once again and Maddy breaks the chains that the agency has on the retrievers. Maddy now controls the retrievers, and fins out that Puck was behind it all.
I loved Black Heart and recommend this book to everyone so I give it 5/ 5 stars,

This is a richly layered story, different from some that I have read. Brynna is a fallen angel seeking redemption. She escapes Hell to Earth so she can redeem herself to God and return to Heaven. On Earth she meets Eran Redmond, a cop, who deal with her because she is a witness to a murder on her first day on Earth.
Once the pace picks up it is an excellent read.
The story and the characters just pull you in. There is two books in the series, and I hope there will be more. I loved this story line. I give it a 4/ 5 stars just because it took it a little to pick up the pace of the story.
