REVIEW- THE UNDOING BY SHELLY LAURENSTON

the undoing cover
“Laurenston is the queen of paranormal romances that mix over-the-top humor, eccentric characters and sexy, crazy plots to produce addictive stories you won’t want to put down.” –RT Book Reviews

No one would ever accuse Jace Berisha of having an easy life–considering her husband…you know…killed her. But that was then! Now she fights for mighty Viking gods with the spectacular and vicious Crows.

But things are turning very bad, very quickly because a vengeful, ancient goddess has come into the world with just one thing on her mind–ending it. And the only way they can hope to stop her is if the Crows join forces with their one-time enemies, the Protectors. A Viking Clan created to do nothing but kill every Crow they see.

Thankfully, Protector Ski Eriksen is a peace loving kind of guy. Because the woman he is desperately trying to get close to is the beautiful and not-very-chatty Jace. Battling Nordic clans? Unkillable goddesses? Jace’s mean-spirited dog? None of these things would ever get in the way of a true Viking!

“If you enjoy outrageous scenarios, witty banter, and hilariously over-the-top characters, look no further than Shelly Laurenston’s Call of Crows series.”—SmexyBooks, Best Books of the Year

I was given a copy of this book by Netgalley for an honest review.

THE UNDOING  is another laugh fest from the brilliant author Shelly Laurenston. In the first book we met Jace, one of the many Crow that live together. When Jace goes into battle she is basically the Crow’s berserker. You do not want to get in her path when she gets really mad. Now, when she is at home she is quiet and is always trying to find a hiding place from her fellow Crows and just read.  Ski Eriksen is a Protector. He is a Protector of the written word. This means he protects anything written that will help them in their fight. When he needs some books translated, he is sent to Jace. She is able to read and speak many languages. This starts many funny moments in the Protector’s house. In typical Shelly Laurenston fashion, you are in for a treat and lots of laughter. I recommend this book and series. If you have not read the first book  The Unleashing (Call Of Crows), I urge you to go and get it. I loved THE UNDOING and give it 5/5 stars.

BOOK DESCRIPTION COURTESY OF AMAZON

This was a quick, short read. The characters and story line was well-developed, with great action from the first. Jace is from the Las Vegas shifters, and he has come to help with getting setting free shifters from their collars. When he arrives into town, he heads to where they have secret fights with shifters. This lets them get out their aggressions without having to challenge anyone in a dominance fight. When he arrives he is attacked by another shifter, and Deni jumps in to help him. They immediately form a connection. Somebody in the shifter community leaks out the location of the fights to the human police and they have to stop the fights or get arrested.  They come up with a plan to tell the police that they are holding a shifter religious ceremony. It works and Jace takes Deni home .

They both feel a connection to each other and they admit that they are mates. Deni gets over her fear of riding her motorcycle when Jace’s life is in jeopardy. All she knows is that she has to find him. This novella was a great read, and I wish it could have been longer.  It was a nice installment to the Shifter’s Unbound series, and I give it 5/5 stars. I love Jennifer Ashley’s books and cannot wait until the next.  I recommend this series to everyone who loves a great paranormal romance.

BOOK REVIEW FOR “UNDEAD To The WORLD” BY D.D. BARRANT

Product DetailsThis is the last book in THE BLOODHOUND FILES. D.D. Barrant will have you questioning all things “reality” with this series. He will have you wondering if you are the one that is actually walking one of those parallel lines and if it is real or could be one of many possibilities. He pushes the boundaries of his world building. He creates likeable characters that will draw you into the story, that wont let you go.

Jace Valchek was a FBI profiler, tracking down criminal, when one night she is ripped from her reality by David Cassius , the vampire head of the NSA. they need her help in tracking and locating a serial murderer of gruesome killings of vampires and werewolves.  They have never come across something like this before so they bring Jace to their reality to help. They tell her when she helps to apprehend or kill the one in the murders then they will return her to her reality.

This book starts with Jace in Kansas apparently in her own world. Is it really her world. She has to solve one more case before she can go home, and that case is the case of the Gallowsman. Not everything is as it seems to be. Are friends really your friends, or are they your enemies.

This book still leaves some loose ends, but it is still a good story. I think I read somewhere that he would like to write more to this series. So I give this book a 4/5 stars.
