REVIEW- Boots and the Rogue (Ugly Stick Saloon) Kindle Edition by MYLA JACKSON

boots and the rogue
There’s more than one way to feed a hungry man.

Ugly Stick Saloon, Book 10

Brody McFarlan left home eight years ago after he and his younger brother had a falling-out over a girl. When a frantic phone call sends him racing home, he’s astounded to learn the truth. Mom isn’t sick, she’s threatening to sell the ranch—unless he and his brothers get busy settling down.

With Mom on strike, Brody uneasily settles in to help—and find a replacement cook before he starves.

Fired from her last job, Jessie Taylor is forced to ride out on her horse, leaving her car behind. Hot, tired and homeless, she stumbles onto the Ugly Stick Saloon, grateful to pick up a spatula in trade for a burger to fill her belly and a much-needed rest for her road-weary mount.

One bite of Jessie’s tasty burger, and Brody offers the rough-and-tumble blonde a job and a stall. It doesn’t hurt that she’s sexy as hell, and he hungers for a taste of her sweet pink mouth. The only bur under his saddle is the grudge he still carries…and the fear that his brother will once again swoop in to steal the pretty filly right out from under him.

Warning: Burning hunger lights fires in the kitchen, the barn, the pasture, and more when another McFarlan brother bites the romantic dust in the sexiest possible way.

I was given a copy of this book by Netgalley for an honest review.

BOOTS AND THE ROGUE is a boot stomping good time. The characters and story line are well-developed. Brody comes home after eight years, but now he is thinking something is wrong with his mom. It is the only way his brother could get him home, for he knew that his brother would not come otherwise. Jessie rides into town on her horse and stops at the Ugly Stick Saloon to water her horse. She is them offered a temporary job of flipping burgers for the saloon. She takes the job and meets Brody, there is an instant connection. He knows he has to get her to come to the ranch and cook for them.  She takes the job and sparks start to fly between Brody and Jessie. This is such a great book, and I recommend it to everyone. I give BOOTS AND THE  ROGUES 5/5 STARS.

Saddle up!

There ain’t a rider that can’t be thrown. And large-animal veterinarian Regan O’Connelli was thrown hard when he discovered his fiancée with his best friend. Now he’s starting his life over at the Last Chance Ranch, run by the tightly knit Chance clan. But damned if his libido hasn’t perked up over the spirited redhead who looks a lot like trouble….

Lily King is the queen of anti-structure. Turns out, that makes running a horse sanctuary a challenge. Regan’s help is exactly what Lily needs—not to mention the seriously sexy sparks that are flying between them. Now she just has to convince this fallen cowboy to dust himself off and get back in the saddle…and into her bed!

RIDING HIGH is a fun, fast, sexy read. I always enjoy a Vicki Lewis Thompson novel.  Lily King is way over her head with her horse sanctuary. She has taken in more than she can handle. When Regan O’Connelli points it out she knows he is right. When she meets him and he does not take off his sun glasses, she knows that is has been hurt and he is protecting himself. She knows that she does not want to be his rebound girl. When he moves in to help her with the horses so that she can adopt them out, things start to heat up.

Regan was hurt when he found his fiancée with his best friend, but being around Lily he has done a lot of soul-searching and has come to the fact that he really never was in love with his fiancée. So now he has to convince Lily that he is over his past and he wants her in his future permanently. When his best friend shows up and wants to talk to him, it could destroy his relationship. I really loved this book and give it 4/ 5 stars.

If you have not read any of Vicki Lewis Thompson, I urge you to do so. She is a great writer. Here are some of her other work.
