UNWANTED BY JENNIFER ESTEP

The New York Times bestselling Elemental Assassin series continues with a new e-novella–from the point of view of Finnegan Lane, the foster brother of Gin Blanco, and a fan favorite of readers of the series.

The fallout from his disastrous “family reunion” in Bitter Bite has left Finn feeling hurt, angry, and depressed. He can barely stand to look at himself in the mirror, much less eat any of the delicious barbecue from Gin’s famed Pork Pit restaurant.

But when the funeral for a slain security guard at his bank turns into a showdown with some nasty underworld giants, Finn knows that he must act in order to protect an innocent family.

Finnegan Lane might be the most unwanted man in Ashland these days, but he’s determined to try to make amends for his past mistakes…

Unwanted (Elemental Assassin) is a novella starting up right after BITTER BITE. It focuses on Finn and what he is going through in the aftermath of his Mother trying to rob the bank he works for. His co-workers are shunning, and blaming him for the deaths of the security guards that were killed during the robbery. When he finds out that the wife of one of the slain guards needs help, he  puts his special skills to work. I love Finn and when I saw the way his co-workers treat him the way they did, I just wanted to give him a big hug. I love THE ELEMENTAL ASSASSIN SERIES and cannot wait for the next book in the series. I give UNWANTED 5/5 stars.

REVIEW- ROLLING LIKE THUNDER BY VICKI LEWIS THOMPSON

rolling like thunder
The last cowboy…

All work and no play makes Finn a dull cowboy. Since his divorce, Finn O’Roarke has put all of his time into his Seattle-based microbrewery, unaware that back in Wyoming, his foster parents are on the verge of ruin. Now Finn and his foster brothers are trying to save Thunder Mountain Ranch—and only one woman can help them turn it all around.

Marketing guru Chelsea Trask has had a thing for the gorgeous brewer for ages. When they work together at Thunder Mountain Ranch, however, she starts to see Finn’s cowboy side. And it’s irresistibly hot. Best of all, the attraction that’s been sizzling beneath the surface has erupted in some very sexy situations. But is Chelsea falling for the real Finn…or for the cowboy he used to be?

Vicki Lewis Thompson has another hit on her hands with ROLLING LIKE THUNDER. The characters and story line are very well-developed and we also see other character from past books. Chelsea is an investor in Finn’s bar. She is going to Thunder Mountain Ranch to help save it from being foreclosed on. They are going to the Last  Chance Ranch to try and round up investors for Thunder Mountain Ranch. As they get closer together on this trip, they start to have strong feelings for each other. Finn does not want to commit to the relationship, for he believes that he cannot let loose of having full control of his business and the relationship would suffer. Chelsea has to show him that he can delegate the smaller day to day tasks to free up his time. This is such a great book, that I loved every minute of reading it. I recommend this book to everyone and give ROLLING LIKE THUNDER 5/5  STARS.

COWBOY BOOTS FOR CHRISTMAS is a heartwarming, sweet read. When Callie’s Nephew witnesses a murder she does not want to go into witness protection. She goes to her Army buddy’s ranch. She knows that they will be safe with Finn O’Donnell. Callie has always loved Finn, but while they were in the service they could not be together. Then Finn fell in love with someone. Now Finn is free and could there actually be a chance for them.  Finn finds out while Callie and her nephew are living with him that he is still in love with her. Plus they have to deal with a feud between two of Burnt Boot’s prominent families, which makes for some fun times. Also they adopt so many animals that show up on their doorstep, and take in three kids whose lives are being disrupted  during the holiday season. This is such an endearing read that will have you laughing with the characters in this book. It is so well written and the characters are very likeable. I give this book 5/5 stars. Carolyn Brown hits it out of the ballpark, and I cannot wait until the next book.

WIDOW’S WEB BY JENNIFER ESTEP BOOK REVIEW

widow's webI used to murder people for money, but lately it’s become more of a survival technique.

Once an assassin, always an assassin. So much for being plain old Gin Blanco. With every lowlife in Ashland gunning for me, I don’t need another problem, but a new one has come to town anyway. Salina might seem like a sweet Southern belle, but she’s really a dangerous enemy whose water elemental magic can go head-to-head with my own Ice and Stone power. Salina also has an intimate history with my lover, Owen Grayson, and now that she’s back, she thinks he’s hers for the taking. Salina’s playing a mysterious game that involves a shady local casino owner with a surprising connection to Owen. But they call me the Spider for a reason. I’m going to untangle her deadly scheme, even if it leaves my love affair hanging by a thread.

BOOK DESCRIPTION COURTESY OF AMAZON

The book first starts out with Gin breaking into one of Owen’s buildings. She is helping him find the weak spots in his security. She bet him that she could break in and get to his office and could kill him without anyone knowing.  So, him and Finn are in the office when she finally makes it to the office through the ventilation.  She wins a dinner out on the town. Why they are out Owen’s ex-fiancé shows up. Now this is not good, for he has not even told her anything about Salina. Now Salina is good about playing the southern belle part and duping everyone into thinking that she is harmless. What no one knows is that she is a homicidal maniac, and she had done things to Owens Sister and he still would take her back. What a total loser. Some men have blinders on and cannot see the forest for the trees.

Gin basically has to kill Salina, because she wants to take the place of Mab, and rule the underworld in Ashland. She does not care who she kills to make it happen. When Gin does finally kill Salina this strains Owen and her relationship to the point of breaking. He can’t forgive her for killing Salina,  but he can forgive Salina for hurting his Sister repeatedly. That is one messed up dude.  They take a break from their relationship and they don’t know if they can repair the damage. This is such a rollercoaster ride of a book that it will pull you in and won’t let you go until the final page. Then you will want to get your hands on the next book to see what happens. The Widow’s Web story line and character development was very well done. The characters are very likeable, and the supporting characters really help to move the story along.

I love the Elemental Assassin  series by Jennifer Estep, and always look forward to the next book by her. I give this book 5/5 stars.
