SPOILERS*****SPOILERS******SPOILERS******SPOILERS

I will try not to reveal too much of the book and spoil it for you, but just in case I put up the spoiler alert for those that don’t want the story spoiled for them. With that said let’s begin. We start off several months after the last book EVER AFTER ended and Rachel is doing security for Trent. She is also trying to convince herself that she is not falling for him and to get the kiss out of her mind. Then the action starts off with a bang and we have nonstop action throughout the book. In this book something or someone has put the Undead Master Vampires to sleep and not wake up. For those that have been waiting a long time for Trent and Rachel to finally get together will not be disappointed. In usual Rachel fashion she is flying by the seat of her pants trying to find the answer to the problem of how to save her city before it is destroyed.

This is one epic adventure that will take you on  one wild ride. When Rachel is infected with mystics, she has to find a way to return them to her line and the Goddess before she goes insane. If you think jumping a train is a walk in he park, you would be mistaken. The last resort to rid herself of the mystics is to see if the demons know of a way to get rid of them. Kim Harrison delivers another exciting adventure, and as we get closer to the end of the series I hate to see it end.  I recommend this series and this book. So far this is the best one yet and I give it 5/ 5 stars.

THE SPIDER (ELEMENTAL ASSASSIN) BY JENNIFER ESTEP BOOK REVIEW

Book Description

         Publication Date:         December 24, 2013
How did I end up in a career where I always have blood on my hands? Well, let me tell you a story about an assassin who thought she could do no wrong. . . .
Ten years ago. A blistering hot August night. I remember like it was yesterday. The night I, Gin Blanco, truly became the Spider. Killing people is what I do best, especially now that I’ve honed my Ice and Stone magic. But back then, I had yet to learn one very important rule: arrogance will get you, every single time.
This particular job seemed simple: murder a crooked building contractor with ties to ruthless Fire elemental Mab Monroe. My mentor, Fletcher Lane, had some misgivings, but I was certain that I had the situation under control . . . right up until I exposed my weaknesses to a merciless opponent who exploited every single one of them. There’s a reason assassins aren’t supposed to feel anything. Luckily, a knife to the heart can fix that problem, especially when I’m the one wielding it. . . .

The story starts out and ends in present day Ashland. She tells Owen about her first solo assassination when she receives roses delivered to her at the Pork Pit. This is a look at Gin when she first started out as The Spider,  and how her impatience at first to get the job done, to end the suffering of a girl from being beaten anymore makes her careless and not gathering all the facts first and not listening to her gut feeling about not feeling right. If Gin would have listened to Fletcher and not been impatient to get the job done, so Charlotte would not have to endure anymore beatings by her father, Gin would have been able to listen to the stones and seen what was going on around her.
Also if she was not bound and determined to go against Fletcher’s wishes in seeing Sebastian and being in that first blush of young love, and rebelling against a “parents” wishes. she would have seen what was really going on around her. Instead she ended up killing the wrong man and almost getting Fletcher and Fin killed along with herself. Now she has to live with the regret of killing Charlotte’s dad and her growing up with out him. I think that is why she always watched out for her. It was a small way for her to try to make things up to her for killing her family.
Gin learned a hard lesson then, that you cannot trust anyone, not even family.  Love is no guarantee of happily ever after. It could be a lifetime of  heartache and disappointments. Life and family is what you make the to be. I really enjoyed this book and the glimpse into Gin’s past. It helped to see how the choices she made changed her and made her into the person and assassin she is today. That is why she is feared by everyone, any why she is fearless. I give this book 5/ 5 stars for the well-developed characters and story line. If you have not read a Jennifer Estep novel, do so. You will not be disappointed.

I BOUGHT THE NEW KIM HARRISON NOVEL

I am a big fan of Kim Harrison and her Rachel Morgan series. I am excited about reading THE UNDEAD POOL, the only snag right now is that I have to finish the book that I am in the middle of reading. I am reading Jennifer Estep’s THE SPIDER. So far it is pretty good. Here lately I have been buying books on my kindle, because I have been running out of room to put books on my shelves. I had to have Kim Harrison’s in hardback, so I would have it for my collection.

As we get closer and closer to the end of the series, I catch myself wishing that the story would not end. In my mind I know that it has to end, for if we let it continue then the story will just become stale and repetitious. We as fans don’t want that to happen to a great story. Another of my favorite authors that I am looking forward to in March is Patricia Briggs. She has a new Mercy Thompson book coming out March 4, called NIGHT BROKEN. March for me has always been a big new release month for my favorite authors. I usually pick up about 15 books in this month alone. I usually save up for this month, so I can get the books that I have been waiting a year for. Well Charlie and me are tired and I think we will go to bed. It is also time for more sinus medicine for my headache that I cannot get rid of for the past 3 days. So I will tell you good night.

BOOK CURIOSITY

I am sitting here trying to write a review for a book and no words seem to be coming to me. It has been like this all day. I guess it is because I have been sick and just don’t feel like doing anything. So it got me to thinking, sometimes that can be a bad thing or a good thing. It just depends on the idea and if it will get me in trouble. I am curious as to what are your favorite books to read over and over, and what drew you to pick that book? I will begin with one of the first romances that I picked up. What initially drew me to it was the cover and I was looking for something around the house to read. The book was originally my Mother’s book and I found it in the laundry room when I went to put my clothes on to wash. The book was by KATHLEEN E. WOODIWISS WOLF AND THE DOVE. I could read this book over and over, in which I have. About seven times actually. I still own that paperback copy. It is almost falling apart, so I went to my local used book store and found a hardback copy.

Another book  I can read over and over is all the DAVID EDDINGS  GARION UNIVERSE SERIES. I could never get enough of these books. I have read each series several times. I love the different characters and the story. One of my favorite characters is Polgara. I love the white streak in her hair, and she is an awesome sorceress. I can also read all the Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson series, Ilona Andrews Kate Daniels series, and the Kim Harrison Rachel Morgan series over and over.

What book or series can you read over and over?

Where do I start with this book besides I love it, I love it, I love it. There is so much action, drama with many twists and turns that you don’t know what will happen next. The story line and characters are well-developed.  Kara has to rescue Idris who was kidnapped from the last book.  Kara returns home from the demon realm where she does not work for the police department anymore, Ryan and Zack have pulled some strings with the FBI and have somehow made her a consultant with the FBI and Ryan’s dept. The guys have made themselves at home in her place, and have done some upgrades that the place needed.
Her first night there she is called out to a homicide. While she is there, she happens to trigger a Kara-Trap. A type of virus that Rhyzkahl had put on the body. The spell hit her on the side and not in the chest, thus delaying the effect of the virus. This is his plan to turn her into Rowan. Between trying to keep herself from slipping into the virus and finding Idris, this is one wild ride. When you think you have everything figured out, something else gets thrown into the mix that has you saying “Oh Crap!”.
I love this series, and I love FURY OF THE DEMON. Diana Rowland has a winner with this book, and I give it 5/ 5 stars.
