Book Description

June 19, 2014
Innocence is relative, and evil is damned hard to kill. . .Kat Redding would love to take a break from the gruesome, dangerous work of hunting down rogue vampires and werewolves, battling for innocent lives. But there’s no peace for Lady Death. Until Kat’s young charge, Sienna, appears on her doorstep, escaped from the shadow-paradise of Delai. Sienna is weak, confused, desperate–human in the utmost. If Kat is going to have any hope of breaking the hold of Delai, she’ll have to infiltrate the walls around the false sanctuary. And the only way she can do that is to trade in her battle-hardened, bloodthirsty vampire’s body–for Sienna’s human form. With no weapons but her wits, Kat has to trust a demon, defeat an angel, and wrestle with her own rebel soul–because with all the fear and death she’s conquered, no one has ever offered her another day under a warm yellow sun. . .Praise for E.S. I was given a copy of this book by NETGALLEY for an honest REVIEW.

E.S MOORE does it again with his newest novel SOULS OF THE DAMNED. His world building and story telling is outstanding. His characters and story line is well-developed. SOULS OF THE DAMNED takes you on a wild ride you will never forget.  When Sienna shows up at her doorstep, Kate knows she has to do everything she can to destroy the town of  Delia and the Angel controlling the town. One problem, Kate cannot enter the town, she was banned by Levi. When she goes to the place the town should exist, nothing is there. How can she enter the town without Levi knowing she is there? The demon Beligral offers to transfer Sienna’s and her souls that way Kate would be in Sienna’s body and Sienna’s soul in her body. This would allow Kate to enter Delia and find the one who summoned the angel Di’leviathan (Levi). This was a fast-paced read that had me wanting more. I give SOULS OF THE DAMNED 5/5 STARS. I recommend this series to everyone, it is a great series to read.

BOOK REVIEW- PAWN OF PROPHECY BY DAVID EDDINGS

PAWN OF PROPHECY BY DAVID EDDINGSPAWN OF PROPHECY-(BELGARIAD SERIES)BOOK#1

“Eddings’ BELGARIAD is exactly the kind of fantasy I like. It has magic, adventure, humor, mystery, and a certain delightful human insight.”
Piers Anthony
Long ago, the Storyteller claimed, in this first book of THE BELGARIAD, the evil god Torak drove men and Gods to war. But Belgarath the Sorcerer led men to reclaim the Orb that protected men of the West. So long as it lay at Riva, the prophecy went, men would be safe.
But Garion did not believe in such stories. Brought up on a quiet farm by his Aunt Pol, how could he know that the Apostate planned to wake dread Torak, or that he would be led on a quest of unparalleled magic and danger by those he loved–but did not know…?

PAWN OF PROPHECY hooked me from the very start. David Eddings was a great story-teller that made his characters come alive and basically jump of the page. He was one of the masters in  world building, bringing to life a world of magic. It starts with Aunt Pol (Polgara)  and Garion on a farm sitting down at a meal, with an old story-teller Belgareth. What Garion does not know is that his life is about to change. Apostate has awakened Torak and he has to find the Orb to destroy Torak before it is too late. This book has sharp dialogue, with Aunt Pol’s sarcasm makes for a great read. When I first started this series in high school, I could not read them fast enough. When it came to reading the last book, I had just finished book 4 CASTLE OF WIZARDRY,I had to go right then to the book store and buy the last book in the series ENCHANTER’S END GAME.I recommend this book and the whole Belgariad series to anyone who loves a good fantasy novel. I give PAWN OF PROPHECY 5/5 STARS.

DIRTY MAGIC is a great start to a new SERIES by Jaye Wells. It starts off with action from the very first and does not let up until the end. Kate Prospero is the niece to one of the most powerful crime bosses in town, and she cooked dirty magic for him when she was younger. When her mother died because of one of her dirty magic potions she got away from her Uncle Abe, with his blessing, and vowed to never do DIRTY MAGIC or any magic ever again. Now years later she is a patrol cop and there is a new drug on the streets. In the opening chapters Kate comes across someone who has just attacked and killed a woman. She chases him down and tries to capture him alive, before he gets to the tunnels and loses him for good.

She grabs him as he tries to claim over a fence to the tunnels and he starts to viciously attack her. She ends up shooting him in her struggle to stay alive while backup arrives. She is later put on the MEA SPECIAL TASK FORCE who is trying find out who is behind this new and deadly drug called GRAY WOLF. This drug turns the user into a werewolf like creature that is very hard to subdue and or kill. When the person behind the drug GRAY WOLF, kidnaps Kate’s brother Daniel and doses him with the drug to get Kate OFF the case. Kate knows she has to use magic(dirty magic) to save her brother.

DIRTY MAGIC was a rollercoaster of a ride, with great dialogue and fast paced action scenes. Kate Prospero is one kick ass heroine. Dirty Magic was well written with great character development and world building. This book does not disappoint. I give it 5/ 5 stars.

Book 2 will be out AUGUST 12, 2014 and is called CURSED MOON.

DEATH’S DAUGHTER BY KATHLEEN COLLINS

I was given a copy of this book by Netgalley

for an honest review.

Book Description

Book two of the Realm Walker series

Juliana Norris, Realm Walker with the Agency, is an Altered. A fact that she runs up against every time she’s forced to work with human police officers, and their species-ist commissioner, on cases they can’t solve themselves. Which happens more than they would like to admit.

Her gift—the quality that makes her the best Realm Walker in the business, without boast—is the ability to read magical signatures. Whether the gift came from her father, the dark fae god of death, or the mage mother she can’t remember, is anyone’s guess. And when Altered children start going missing with only wild magical signatures as clues, her heritage is the last thing on her mind.

She can’t afford such distractions, and she definitely can’t afford to worry about the fact that her mate, master vampire Thomas Kendrick, hasn’t spoken to her since she saved him from a demon—maybe it’s because she had to stab him to do so. Because whoever is kidnapping these children must be very powerful to wield wild magic. Very powerful, and very dangerous indeed.

I loved Book 1 – Realm Walker in this series, and Book 2 delivers even more than the first. The story line and characters are very well-developed. DEATH’S DAUGHTER will take you on one wild rollercoaster ride. Realm Walker Juliana Norris with the Agency is called back in early from her suspension from the last case in Book 1, to help find THE THIEF, the psycho who is kidnapping altered children and purifying them. When her niece is taken and one of their own is killed, she must find THE THIEF before anyone else is harmed. Unknowingly that THE THIEF is someone within her own circle looking for the missing children.

When I first started out reading the book I had somewhat of a feeling of who THE THIEFwas, but with a few red herrings thrown in, I was not quite sure until the last. DEATH’S DAUGHTER will have you guessing until the very end. The only part that I did not like was when one of the characters that I liked was killed off, but I know why the author did what she did. When certain characters cannot move a story forward anymore, you have to somehow eliminate them from the story line. This certain character did not move the storyline forward for the character, therefore the death. There is also some resolutions to things from book 1 that help to move the story further along for both Juliana and Master Vampire Thomas, her mate. I really enjoyed the book and cannot wait for the next book in the series. If you have not read REALM WALKER DO SO BEFORE YOU READ DEATH’S DAUGHTER. I give it 5/5 stars.

REVIEW: NIGHT BROKEN BY PATRICIA BRIGGS

Book Description

         Publication Date:         March 11, 2014
#1 New York Times bestselling author Patricia Briggs’s Mercy Thompson series has been hailed as “one of the best” (Fiction Vixen). Now, Mercy must deal with an unwanted guest—one that brings a threat unlike anything she’s ever known.
An unexpected phone call heralds a new challenge for Mercy. Her mate Adam’s ex-wife is in trouble, on the run from a stalker. Adam isn’t the kind of man to turn away a person in need—and Mercy knows it. But with Christy holed up in Adam’s house, Mercy can’t shake the feeling that something about the situation isn’t right.
Soon, her suspicions are confirmed when she learns that Christy has the farthest thing from good intentions. She wants Adam back and she’s willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen, including turning Adam’s pack against Mercy.
Mercy isn’t about to step down without a fight, but there’s a more dangerous threat circling. Christy’s stalker is more than a bad man—in fact, he may not be human at all. As the bodies start piling up, Mercy must put her personal troubles aside to face a creature with the power to tear her whole world apart.

Patricia Briggs does it again with an outstanding addition to the MERCY THOMPSON SERIES with NIGHT BROKEN. Mercy is not happy that Adam’s Ex is coming to stay with them, but she knows until the threat to her is gone it has to happen. Christy is being stalked by a Volcano God who thinks Christy is his lost love, and anyone who stands in his way of getting her back will die. Christy does things that make Mercy look petty and selfish and makes her look like the poor defenseless Ex. Mercy ends up with sweet revenge in the end. one of my favorite parts in the book is where the pack is at Honey’s place and they are watching the video footage from the security cameras at Mercy’s shop. She is battling the Volcano God and they are studying them from every angle.
“Fragile my aching butt. How did she manage to avoid his swing and hit him with the gun? I wish we had this from a slightly different angle.”
“We do,” said Ben. “We have four discs. This one is Garage Cam One. There’s also Outside Cam One, Office Cam One, and Garage Cam Two.”
I like this quote from Warren:
“Takes a lickin’ and keeps on tickin’.” said Warren. “That’s our Mercy.”
This lets the pack know that even though she is a coyote she can handle her own and is an asset to the pack. This book has so many twists and turns, that it makes it outstanding. I love this series and recommend it to everyone. I give it 5/ 5 stars.
Here is a collection of stories coming out September  2,2014.
