This story is connected to the Cascadia Wolves series but is completely stand-alone.Layla Warden had a ten-year plan and it sure as heck didn’t include a mate. She had her flashy car and her corner office and all was right with the world until Sid Rosario sat down at her table and turned her life upside down.Sparks fly as the two werewolves flirt over dinner and it’s no surprise to either of them when they end up back at his hotel room, naked and sweaty. But Sid is her mate, and they don’t figure it out until the bond is sealed. Layla, driven by confusion and fear, heads out of contact while a frantic Sid looks for her. What comes next helps a reluctant wolf find her way to acceptance.

This is a short prequel to the Cascadia Wolves series, and a stand alone story. I really enjoyed this story, in all it’s steamy, sexy, and heart warming glory. Layla and Sid are very likeable characters, and the story line was very good. I loved the Cascadia Wolves series. I just had one problem with this book. In just about every shapeshifter, werewolf novel the know their mate at first sight, but they don’t know until they seal their bond.
Once a Bear sets his mind on a mission, it’s best to stay out of his way. Alexander “Bunny” Bunsun is that Bear. Something’s not right with his cousin Chloe, and he’s come to Halle, PA, to sort it out, turn his Harley around and head home to Oregon. Until an enticing scent lures him into the local tattoo shop.
There she is. An inked, Southern-drawled she-Wolf with lime-green hair. His perfect mate.
Tabitha Garwood’s rotten day just got worse. Her Outcast status makes her a target for harassment with alarming regularity. And now, in the middle of a root touch-up, looking like a half-melted Skittle, she’s met her destined mate. The only upside? She finally has a protector in the form of a huge, tattooed, shaved-head Bear who vibrates with carefully restrained power.
When Chloe is left for dead and Tabby is threatened, only Alex can keep his growing family safe. Giving Tabby the loving home she needs, though, could come at a price—Alex must give up the control he’s worked a lifetime to attain.
Which means someone could die at the hands—and claws—of his beast.

When I started reading this book, I automatically started laughing. The author really knows how to put just the right amount of humor in every page. I fell in love with the characters and the story. When Bunny finally realizes in the tattoo parlor that Tabby is his mate and a wolf is priceless. I love when he talks to himself and says “Nah. He could not have just heard that his Wolf mate was named after a kitty cat. No Wolf parent would be that cruel.”
I could not keep from laughing. Then when Tabby realizes that Bunny was her mate and a Bear, a she could think about was, “My mate is out there. My mate. What’s even weirder? Bear. My mate is a Bear. And I have orange roots.”
The laughs just keep coming. This book was a really great read, and I flew threw the other books as well. Now I am waiting for the next book in the series. I give this book a 5/ 5 stars.
