DEATH’S DAUGHTER BY KATHLEEN COLLINS

I was given a copy of this book by Netgalley

for an honest review.

Book Description

Book two of the Realm Walker series

Juliana Norris, Realm Walker with the Agency, is an Altered. A fact that she runs up against every time she’s forced to work with human police officers, and their species-ist commissioner, on cases they can’t solve themselves. Which happens more than they would like to admit.

Her gift—the quality that makes her the best Realm Walker in the business, without boast—is the ability to read magical signatures. Whether the gift came from her father, the dark fae god of death, or the mage mother she can’t remember, is anyone’s guess. And when Altered children start going missing with only wild magical signatures as clues, her heritage is the last thing on her mind.

She can’t afford such distractions, and she definitely can’t afford to worry about the fact that her mate, master vampire Thomas Kendrick, hasn’t spoken to her since she saved him from a demon—maybe it’s because she had to stab him to do so. Because whoever is kidnapping these children must be very powerful to wield wild magic. Very powerful, and very dangerous indeed.

I loved Book 1 – Realm Walker in this series, and Book 2 delivers even more than the first. The story line and characters are very well-developed. DEATH’S DAUGHTER will take you on one wild rollercoaster ride. Realm Walker Juliana Norris with the Agency is called back in early from her suspension from the last case in Book 1, to help find THE THIEF, the psycho who is kidnapping altered children and purifying them. When her niece is taken and one of their own is killed, she must find THE THIEF before anyone else is harmed. Unknowingly that THE THIEF is someone within her own circle looking for the missing children.

When I first started out reading the book I had somewhat of a feeling of who THE THIEFwas, but with a few red herrings thrown in, I was not quite sure until the last. DEATH’S DAUGHTER will have you guessing until the very end. The only part that I did not like was when one of the characters that I liked was killed off, but I know why the author did what she did. When certain characters cannot move a story forward anymore, you have to somehow eliminate them from the story line. This certain character did not move the storyline forward for the character, therefore the death. There is also some resolutions to things from book 1 that help to move the story further along for both Juliana and Master Vampire Thomas, her mate. I really enjoyed the book and cannot wait for the next book in the series. If you have not read REALM WALKER DO SO BEFORE YOU READ DEATH’S DAUGHTER. I give it 5/5 stars.

SPOILERS*****SPOILERS******SPOILERS******SPOILERS

I will try not to reveal too much of the book and spoil it for you, but just in case I put up the spoiler alert for those that don’t want the story spoiled for them. With that said let’s begin. We start off several months after the last book EVER AFTER ended and Rachel is doing security for Trent. She is also trying to convince herself that she is not falling for him and to get the kiss out of her mind. Then the action starts off with a bang and we have nonstop action throughout the book. In this book something or someone has put the Undead Master Vampires to sleep and not wake up. For those that have been waiting a long time for Trent and Rachel to finally get together will not be disappointed. In usual Rachel fashion she is flying by the seat of her pants trying to find the answer to the problem of how to save her city before it is destroyed.

This is one epic adventure that will take you on  one wild ride. When Rachel is infected with mystics, she has to find a way to return them to her line and the Goddess before she goes insane. If you think jumping a train is a walk in he park, you would be mistaken. The last resort to rid herself of the mystics is to see if the demons know of a way to get rid of them. Kim Harrison delivers another exciting adventure, and as we get closer to the end of the series I hate to see it end.  I recommend this series and this book. So far this is the best one yet and I give it 5/ 5 stars.

I BOUGHT THE NEW KIM HARRISON NOVEL

I am a big fan of Kim Harrison and her Rachel Morgan series. I am excited about reading THE UNDEAD POOL, the only snag right now is that I have to finish the book that I am in the middle of reading. I am reading Jennifer Estep’s THE SPIDER. So far it is pretty good. Here lately I have been buying books on my kindle, because I have been running out of room to put books on my shelves. I had to have Kim Harrison’s in hardback, so I would have it for my collection.

As we get closer and closer to the end of the series, I catch myself wishing that the story would not end. In my mind I know that it has to end, for if we let it continue then the story will just become stale and repetitious. We as fans don’t want that to happen to a great story. Another of my favorite authors that I am looking forward to in March is Patricia Briggs. She has a new Mercy Thompson book coming out March 4, called NIGHT BROKEN. March for me has always been a big new release month for my favorite authors. I usually pick up about 15 books in this month alone. I usually save up for this month, so I can get the books that I have been waiting a year for. Well Charlie and me are tired and I think we will go to bed. It is also time for more sinus medicine for my headache that I cannot get rid of for the past 3 days. So I will tell you good night.

Where do I start with this book besides I love it, I love it, I love it. There is so much action, drama with many twists and turns that you don’t know what will happen next. The story line and characters are well-developed.  Kara has to rescue Idris who was kidnapped from the last book.  Kara returns home from the demon realm where she does not work for the police department anymore, Ryan and Zack have pulled some strings with the FBI and have somehow made her a consultant with the FBI and Ryan’s dept. The guys have made themselves at home in her place, and have done some upgrades that the place needed.
Her first night there she is called out to a homicide. While she is there, she happens to trigger a Kara-Trap. A type of virus that Rhyzkahl had put on the body. The spell hit her on the side and not in the chest, thus delaying the effect of the virus. This is his plan to turn her into Rowan. Between trying to keep herself from slipping into the virus and finding Idris, this is one wild ride. When you think you have everything figured out, something else gets thrown into the mix that has you saying “Oh Crap!”.
I love this series, and I love FURY OF THE DEMON. Diana Rowland has a winner with this book, and I give it 5/ 5 stars.

WITCH HEART BY ANYA BAST

WITCH HEART BK 3buynow

Book Description

         Publication Date:         January 6, 2009
Third in the Elemental Witch series from the national bestselling author
View our feature on Anya Bast’s Witch Heart.
Claire, a demon’s handmaiden, is rescued from enslavement by a handsome playboy. Now they’re both in danger of being captured by warlocks who are determined to harness Claire’s powers for evil.
I loved reading Witch Heart. The story line and characters were well-developed. The story draws you in and doesn’t let you go until the last page is read. Claire returns to the Earth realm where she was born, when she escapes the demon realm. She is on the run from those that have enslaved her, because she has stolen the Elium.  The Atrika demons want the Elium at all cost. Adam Tyrell is assigned to protect Claire by the Earth Witches. When Claire and Adam get together, Adam is very captivated by Claire. The sparks, and sexual tension between these  two is very hot. Adam will  sacrifice anything for Claire. I highly recommend this book and any of Anya Bast books. I give Witch Heart 4/5 stars.
