“If you love reading quirky humor, steamy scenes, and strong female characters, you’re going to love reading Kelli Ireland! Ireland is a gifted storyteller who keeps readers enthralled with her unique voice and clever writing. I love her!”
New York Times bestselling author Larissa Ione

Hiding places are scarce when both Heaven and Hell intend to find you.

Dani Fayel’s backbreaking job as a stable hand at The Freaks’ Fair isn’t glamorous, but for someone looking to keep to the shadows? It’s perfect. Neither paranormal freaks nor human norms ever notice her. But when Dani is forced to either let a child die in order to maintain her anonymity or choose to save him and risk being discovered, she finds herself unwillingly thrust into the spotlight.

Cain, Hell’s premier assassin and a predatory incubus, is close to fulfilling his final contract and earning his freedom. Hired by the Archangel of Death to find his daughter, Cain follows her trail to the Fair. He works undercover, certain his mark is inside one of the portable canopies or traveling cages. Dead or alive, she equals his ticket to freedom.

When Cain’s objective is divulged, Dani realizes she can’t outrun her destiny. As the fabled Key—the one soul with absolute free will who is tied to the three realms of Heaven, Earth and Hell—only she is capable of opening the gates for the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Whoever frees the Horsemen allegedly commands them. Now both Heaven and Hell are vying for her allegiance, and there are no limits as to how dirty they’ll fight to obtain it. With Hell raining indiscriminate chaos as Heaven maneuvers its players around her, Dani realizes her would-be assassin may be the only man capable of helping her survive.

I was given a copy of this book by Netgalley for an honest review.

RAISING CAIN is a great start to this urban fantasy. The characters and story line are well-developed. Dani has been in foster homes since she was eight years old. She was kicked out of the foster home when she was 23 years old. She has been with the Freak’s Fair since. Now Demons are coming after her, for she is The Key. I loved this book and Dani’s struggle with the knowledge that she is The Key.  Now she has to try to stay alive until she claims what side she is on Team Sheol, or Team Malkuth. She has to choose freely to maintain the balance of choice and the free will of mankind. I recommend this book to everyone and cannot wait until the next book to see what happens. I give RAISING CAIN 5/5 STARS.

Product DetailsThey are the Sentinels. Three races descended from ancient guardians of mankind, each possessing unique abilities in their battle to protect humanity against their eternal foes: the Synestryn. Now a warrior must protect a strong-minded woman from an incredible evil….

A beautiful, independent Theronai, Rory Rainey knows that her attempts to be a warrior are futile—unless she can stop the demonic visions that torment her. But Rory’s journey brings its own dangers when she is attacked by a pack of Synestryn sent by the demon lord Raygh.

Cornered and desperate, Rory narrowly escapes with the help of a sword-wielding stranger. Cain knows that Rory needs his protection to survive, just as he knows that her power is compatible with his own. And when Rory binds herself to Cain, the warrior knows he will do anything to keep her safe from the threat of the demon lord that pursues her….
Shannon K. Butcher knows how build and blend worlds together. The characters and story line are just awesome. Jackie loses her sight every time she has a vision, and she is desperate to find the person who can remove those visions and give her peace. Cain does not have long before he loses his last leaf on his tree, and lose his mind. He must find his mate to save his life. He came across her one night and since then he has been all over the city barely missing her. Until one night he saves her from a pack of Synestry. This book is fast paced and action packed. I loved this book and the whole series. I give this book a 4/ 5 stars.
Here are the other books in the series.
