BEAR MEETS GIRL BY SHELLY LAURENSTON BOOK REVIEW

Book Description

         Publication Date:         March 27, 2012

He’s big, burly, and way smarter than your average shapeshifting bear. He’s also about to get trapped by own his game…Lou Crushek is a reasonable, mellow, easygoing kind of guy. But once someone starts killing the scumbags he works so hard to bust, that really gets under his fur. Especially when that someone is a curvy she-tiger with a skill set that’s turning Crush’s lone-bear world upside down – and bringing his passion out of hibernation…As a member of an elite feline protection unit, Marcella Malone has no problem body-dropping anyone who hunts her kind. But Crush is proving one major pain in her gorgeous tail. The only reason she’s joined forces with him is to track down the wealthy human who’s got her entire species in his ruthless sights. It sure isn’t because Crush’s stubborn and contrary attitude is rubbing Cella in all the right ways…

Lou “Crush” Crushek is being transferred to be partnered up with Dez and her police force. Crush has never liked change until Marcella “Cella” Malone, enforcer for the shifter hockey team, and contractor for KZS, entered his life.  She turned his quiet bear life upside down. These two are complete opposites. Cella likes a good down and dirty bare-knuckle brawl, and Crush likes a quite day at home. When you put these two together you have chaos, and sexy, hot scenes. In BEAR MEETS GIRL, the characters and story line are well-developed. In true Shelly Laurenston fashion, you have the snappy dialogue, witt, and sarcastic humor. There is some laugh out loud moments. I never get tired of reading a Shelly Laurenston book. I loved BEAR MEETS GIRL, and I give it 4/5 stars.

Don’t forget on March 25, 2014 Bite Me (The Pride Series) will be released. I was fortunate to be given an ARC copy of this book, Review forthcoming, and all I have to say at the moment is you will love it. There seems to be a lot more humor in BITE ME, THAT I FOUND MYSELF LAUGHING IN THE BREAKROOM AT WORK A LOT MORE THAN USUAL. JUST BE PREPARED.

BOOK REVIEW: THE GREAT GATSBY by F. SCOTT FITZGERALD

The Great Gastby

I read the book over the last weekend and spent quite a time as its length would not suggest. Some would say its a tragic love story with crime and corrupted minds. But I say its a very close resemblance to Fitzgerald’s own life, especially his struggle for his own love. That is the main theme. The story starts with Nick Carraway’s narration when he visits his cousin, Daisy. Nick, is an exceptionally mild person to the point of being dull. But through this narration framed in the thoughts of an exceedingly dull person Fitzgerald creates characters and lays out scenes that are vivid and bright and engaging.

By coincidence or by luck, Jay Gatsby, the lavish millionaire who throws extravagant parties to celebrate his wealth, is the neighbor of Nick. The story intertwines with Nick’s cousin Daisy Buchanan who is Gatsby’s long lost first love and still the object of his desire, Daisy’s husband Tom Buchanan who is having an affair with Myrtle Wilson.

It’s a mild story and the gripping depends all on the reader mind. With insignificant complexity the plot is an impressive display of analysis through rhetoric.

There are some similarities between the author Fitzgerald and the character Gatsby. Both had the opportunities to attend world’s most prestigious universities, Princeton and Oxford, but failed to graduate either of them. Both also attended the army. These are some insignificant similarities, though.

But the analogousness between them is the love of their lives. Both of them fell in love being young and neither of them could provide what their ladies, Zelda and Daisy, wanted. Both of these ladies were highly interested in money, and terminated their relationships. In Gatsby’s case, Daisy promised to wait but instead dated many men and married Tom Buchanan. In Scott’s case, he was engaged to Zelda and he went to New York seeking fortune but his plans took longer than expected. Thus, Zelda broke their engagement. It was not until the first book which made him rich enough to marry Zelda.

Both Daisy and Zelda resemble each other. They both were unloyal to their respective lovers. Gatsby’s struggle to get back his love fully resembles the struggle Scott might have experienced.

But as story needs to have an ending, Fitzgerald wrote down one possibility of his own love life could have ended or in other words the ending.

I quite like the story and the way it is written. It is, no doubt, one of the American Classics.

4.5 out of 5 from me.

I loved the story line of Doe and the Wolf. The character development was great,  and it was nice to see Miranda and Chase again. Everett and Dawn are great characters, the many three little pigs references were really funny. This book had me busting out laughing at some inappropriate times.  My family would look at me and just shake their head at me. Just make sure that you are not eating or drink anything while you are reading this so you don’t spray on your kindle or book from laughing.

Poor Dawn is scared that if anyone sees her doe that she would be a laughing-stock. Plus she is not a homicidal maniac like the other experiments. Yeah she might like one particular big , bad wolf now , but her only worry is hopefully his family won’t serve her up for thanksgiving dinner. I really loved this book, and I give it 5/ 5 stars.

CHRISTMAS 2 MONTHS AWAY. SAY WHAT!!!!!!!!!

imagesCA7AYLRP I can’t believe it either. Where has this year gone? Just thinking about it has my head hurting, because not only do I have to buy Christmas . I still have 10 birthdays between now and December to buy for. I have 1 birthday on October 31, Nov, 9,10, 15, 2 on Nov. 19, Dec. 6, 9, 13, 15, then Christmas. I basically stay broke from this time until the new year. I guess that is why my Mom hates the holidays. I am starting to get that Bah humbug feeling, especially now that I know I need knee surgery and the doctor wants to wait until I lose about 50-60 pounds.

That is about how much I lost in about 2 years, so I hope it wont be 2 years before I have knee surgery. I don’t think I can last that long. Maybe with physical therapy starting Monday, that will be my Christmas present, knee surgery. Has anyone started shopping yet for Christmas, or are many of you last-minute shoppers. last year I had most of my shopping just about done, but this year I have not even started shopping. Maybe I will get them all an Amazon gift card and let them get what they want.  That way I don’t have to deal with the crowds. I work for a major retailer and it is crazy during the holiday and I try not to shop when I get off work.

I just want to get out of there and get home. For some reason the holidays brings out the worst in people. People who are normally nice the rest of the year are down right witches( you can replace the w with a b ) it is really scary. So I suggest if you don’t want to be part of the scary crowd, start your shopping now, and order online. It will definitely save you some headaches later. I know I will.  Why not Start Now And Follow the Link Bellow.
