Haley McKay is a feisty, high-powered business woman more comfortable in business suits than cowboy boots. She is on her way to research the idea for anew reality television series based on a modern-day cattle drive. She believes that she will be able to do her research in her car and be able to sleep in a hotel every night. What she doesn’t know is that she has to do it all on the back of a horse and sleep under the stars. She also has to help with all parts of the cattle drive.
Rancher Dewar O’Connell is an old-fashioned cowboy at heart, and all he wants to do is finish this cattle drive and find him a nice woman to settle down with. The longer he is with Haley the more he loses his heart.
This book has a lot of funny moments where you will catch yourself laughing. My favorite is the scene where they are taking the cattle through a small town like a parade and a kid does something to Haley’s horse that makes it start to rear. This spooks the cattle into a stampede, and they run through the town tearing up things. Some of the cows have hats, clothes, and bras on their horn from shops that were having outdoor sales for the occasion. This was funny imagining the cows with their pilfered items on their heads.
