BEGINNINGS BY HELEN J. CHRISTMAS

beginnings cover
Beginnings is a romantic thriller set in the criminal underworld of 1970s London. Eleanor Chapman is 16. She has no idea her father is employed in a world of organised crime until the day he is forced to go on the run, leaving her at the mercy of dangerous people.

Her life is spiralling out of control yet on the night she plans to escape, she stumbles across a mysterious prisoner. His name is Jake, a rock musician from Holland and he has a contract on his life.

Their daring escape across London eventually draws them into a place of hiding before Jake’s chilling story begins to unfold. He was the one vital witness to a sinister scene leading up to the death of a British MP and now those responsible want him silenced. As two young people, thrown together by fate they develop intense feelings for each other. It does not take long for Eleanor to realise that she will do anything possible to keep Jake alive.

Their tender love bond keeps you turning the pages as they live on a knife edge, desperate to escape London. Will they outrun the deadly enemies who stalk them? Or are the people at the top more powerful than they think?

Beginnings: Book 1 of the series “Same Face Different Place” a romantic British thriller through the decades.

Inspired by the violent criminal underworld of Martina Cole and the strong characters who would expect in a Leslie Pearse novel, this book has been described as an emotional roller coaster and with elements of high tension that make it difficult to put down.

If you like romance and enjoy a good thriller, this book is an excellent choice for fans of both genres.

Eleanor’s father works for the Underworld as an Enforcer for the Mob. When he has to flee after a shooting in the middle of the night, he entrusts his daughter to a couple that Mob boss Sammie knows to keep her safe. What they don’t know is that they have other plans for her. It took me a while to get into the story for it was a little slow at first, but when I got further into the story it really picked up. It was really good! The characters and the storyline were well-developed. I give Beginnings (Same Face Different Place Book 1)  4/5 stars.

PARANORMAL ROMANCE- “RED BLOODED” BY AMANDA CARLSON

red blooded by amanda carlson

PUBLICATION DATE

SEPTEMBER 9, 2014

Jessica is going to Hell.

After settling a fragile truce between the vampires, werewolves and witches, the last thing Jessica wants to do is face the demons head on. But when the Prince of Hell kidnapped her brother, he set into motion a chain of events that even Jessica doesn’t have the power to stop.

Now, Jessica must go into battle again. But Hell is a whole new beast — new rules, more dangerous demons, and an entirely foreign realm. And when Jessica is dropped into the Underworld too soon, without protection or the help of her friends, she must figure out just how powerful she can be… or she will never make it out alive.

I was given a copy of this book by Netgalley for an honest review.

Jessica is going to Hell, but she is going before she is ready. Jessica has been told to come to Hell to stand trial for crimes against it, but she was told to come by a certain date. While training to defend against demon magic, she absorbs it and activates the circle and pulled to Hell.

The Witches try to control where she lands when she gets there. Everything is strange in Hell. She must get away from the garbage of Hell before she is caught, and find her brother. She is literally running around with no idea of where she is going. She breaks out a woman who is being help prisoner. What she does not know is that she is the one who started all the crap with Hell.  If it was not for her she would not be in this situation. To me RED BLOODED was not as action packed as the others, and had a lot of running around. Don’t get me wrong it was still a very good book with well-developed characters and storyline. I give RED BLOODED 4/ 5 stars.

E.S MOORE does it again with his newest novel SOULS OF THE DAMNED. His world building and story telling is outstanding. His characters and story line is well-developed. SOULS OF THE DAMNED takes you on a wild ride you will never forget.  When Sienna shows up at her doorstep, Kate knows she has to do everything she can to destroy the town of  Delia and the Angel controlling the town. One problem, Kate cannot enter the town, she was banned by Levi. When she goes to the place the town should exist, nothing is there. How can she enter the town without Levi knowing she is there? The demon Beligral offers to transfer Sienna’s and her souls that way Kate would be in Sienna’s body and Sienna’s soul in her body. This would allow Kate to enter Delia and find the one who summoned the angel Di’leviathan (Levi). This was a fast-paced read that had me wanting more. I give SOULS OF THE DAMNED 5/5 STARS. I recommend this series to everyone, it is a great series to read.
