Here is something I am working on. I thought I would post it and get your opinion. It is a fantasy novel, with magic and dragons. I am still working things out with the story and the world building, so be patient with me.
“ SHARRA, WATCH YOUR BACK!”
Sharra glances over her shoulder and sees two enforcers closing in on her. Notching an arrow in her bow Sharra aims at the closest enforcer, before the arrow finds it’s mark she has a second one ready and lets it loose to kill the second enforcer.
“Callum, where are Mother and Father?” she yells to be heard above the noise.
“They were heading for the caves.” Callum replies over his shoulder, as he was fighting with an enforcer.
“ Why are we being attacked?”
“Apparently they are searching every village for a girl who can do magic.” he blocks an attack.
“ Why are they doing this?” she sweeps the legs out from under her attacker and slashes at his belly.
“ You remember the prophecy of The Lost Kingdom?”
“Yes, but that is only a tale told by the Elders.”
“Apparently , Veldahar takes it seriously.”
Sharra looks out at the village, seeing the death and destruction of her people. Homes burning, family and friends dead, because of one mans greed. Shaking off the feeling of fear, Sharra starts to slowly work her way through the hoard of enforcers.
“Callum, the village is lost. I’ll meet you at the gathering place with any survivors.”
“ Be careful Sharra who’s to say that you are not the one they are looking for.” Callum looks at her with a smile on his face.
“Yeah, right . I am not the one true ruler, that will bring peace to the land.”
“ Just be careful. I don’t want to lose you.”
Sharra hugs her brother and runs off searching for any survivors. Hearing the cries of those she is unable to help.
“ Sharra dear.”
Sharra stops and listens, trying to figure out where the voice came from. For there was no one around. “ I must be going crazy.” Sharra mumbles to herself.
“ No dear, you are not going crazy.”
“If I am not going crazy, then why am I talking to a voice in my head?”
“Because dear, you can not see us yet.”
“Us?” Sharra shakes her head in disbelief, still not sure that she is not going crazy.
“Yes dear, us. The Elders of the Lost Kingdom.”
“That is just a myth.” Sharra circles around a boulder to avoid detection from any enforcers.
“No, we are not a myth. We are very much a reality.”
“If the Lost Kingdom is true, then who are they trying to find?”
“Why you dear.”
“Me.” Sharra asks in disbelief.
“Yes, You. For you are the true ruler of the Lost Kingdom.” The voice replies.
“This can not be, for I do not know any magic.”
“Yes, you do. How else could we be talking to you.”
