SHADOW HUNT – REVIEW

shadow hunt coverAre you ready for a Shadow Hunt?

For years now, Scarlett Bernard has counted on two things: her ability to nullify magic, and Shadow, the bargest who guards Scarlett with her life. But after a sudden revelation turns Scarlett’s world upside down, she panics and leaves town without warning, leaving Shadow with her partner, Jesse. In the chaos that follows, the bargest is stolen—and Jesse nearly dies from a brutal psychic assault.

It seems that an old enemy has returned for revenge…and the attack on Shadow was only the beginning. As Scarlett races home to find the bargest and rescue her friends, she is dragged deeper into a terrifying legend that has somehow found its way to present-day Los Angeles.

Now she will have to recruit every possible ally for a battle that will test her null ability to the limit. Scarlett has been in over her head before, but now she risks losing everything…and she’s never had more to lose.

Another great novel by Melissa F. Olsen! I love the character of Scarlett Bernard!  Scarlett needs to go back to Las Vegas to get an answer to a problem. While she is away Jesse is watching Shadow. Shadow is then kidnapped and Jesse is put in a deep sleep. Now Scarlett has to find Shadow and get Shadow back any way possible. I love the way that Scarlett and Shadow interact with each other. I love this series! I can’t wait to see what is coming next. I recommend this series to everyone. I give Shadow Hunt (Disrupted Magic) 5/5 stars.

BLOOD GAMBLE BY MELISSA F. OLSON

blood gamble cover
If there is one city that Scarlett Bernard hates, it’s Las Vegas. But when the cardinal vampire of Los Angeles convinces her to go investigate a new vampire-themed stage show, Scarlett quickly finds herself shoulder-deep in sequins, slot machines, and Old World intrigue.

The show’s creators are vampire celebrities Arthur and Lucy Holmwood, who once inspired characters from the original Dracula. Now, however, they have no qualms about announcing their true status to the human world, endangering the secrecy of the Old World and Scarlett’s mission to keep it hidden.

But before she can begin untangling the Holmwoods’ motives, Scarlett also discovers that their new production has attracted more than just fans: Las Vegas’s many vampires are suddenly disappearing, and rumors are flying that actual vampire hunters may have followed Arthur and Lucy to town.

Now, without her allies, her bargest, or her frequent partner Jesse Cruz, Scarlett must navigate a new underworld of secrets and murders in a city where nothing is ever as it seems. And the stakes have never been higher.

I have really enjoyed this series and the way Scarlett has evolved. The characters and story line are well-developed. In Las Vegas, Vampires are going missing and Scarlett is sent to find out what is happening. Things are not always as they seem with the Holmwood’s new show.Vampires are disappearing after attending the show. Also, while investigating, she finds out that vampire hunters have come to Vegas. She must navigate the nightlife while not getting herself killed in the process. I recommend this book and series to everyone. I give Blood Gamble (Disrupted Magic) 5/5 stars.

REVIEW- BOUNDARY LINES BY MELISSA F. OLSON

boundary linesFitting into the Old World isn’t going very well for Boulder boundary witch Allison “Lex” Luther: she may have earned a place in a vampire’s service, but now it seems as if every supernatural creature in town has found a reason to hate her. And when Lex and her partner are assigned to investigate the suspicious disappearance of two vampires during the night of the full moon, they find themselves with more questions than answers.

Was it murder…or mutiny?

The crusade for answers will lead Lex all over the Colorado Old World, from a prison cell for a broken werewolf to a haunted Denver brothel. And when Lex determines the responsible party, the hunt is just beginning: something has been awakened in Boulder, something as old and powerful as it is terrifying. Only the woman with death in her blood can stop what’s coming.

BOUNDARY LINES grabbed me from the very first. This is the second book in the series, and the first book I have read of the series. I will definitely go back and read the first book. The characters and story very well crafted.  Allison “Lex” Luther is a boundary witch. Her magic deals with the boundary between death and life, and the other witches basically don’t want anything to do with her. They are afraid of what her magic does. Her magic has brought her back from the dead on several occasions. One time when she was younger, she drowned, and her magic brought her back. The most recent was her tour in the middle east in the military, when their convoy was hit by an IED. Everyone died, including her. Now she has to find out why magic has gone wonky in town. She will find out things about herself that she could not remember from her time of the IED attack. I love this book, and I give BOUNDARY LINES 5/5 STARS.
