shadow's bane cover
Half-human, half-vampire Dorina Basarab is back–and facing her biggest challenge yet in the next urban fantasy in the New York Times bestselling series.

Dorina Basarab is a dhampir–half-human, half-vampire. As one of the Vampire Senate’s newest members, Dory already has a lot on her plate. But then a relative of one of Dory’s fey friends goes missing. They fear he’s been sold to a slaver who arranges fights–sometimes to the death–between different types of fey.

As Dory investigates, she and her friends learn the slavers are into something much bigger than a fight club. With the Vampire Senate gearing up for war with Faerie, it’ll take everything she has to defeat the slavers–and deal with the entirely too attractive master vampire Louis-Cesare….

WOW!! SHADOW’S BANE is a roller coaster ride of fun and action! There was areas in the book that had me chuckling. A Dhampir usually has a short life, because their Vampire half matures faster than their human half and tries to tear them apart. Her father Mircea had put a mental wall between her two natures to allow her human half to mature.   Now the wall is down and the two halves are inhabiting the same body. Dorina- the Vampire half, and Dory- the Human half are co-existing. Dorina usually only comes out when Dory is unconscious. Now it seems they are awake at the same time more often. Dory is now an  official Senate member and awaiting the actual ceremony in a week. She is tasked with trying to find the slavers that are stealing the Fey. In this book we will actually get two points of view. One will be from Dory and the other from Dorina. I love this series and recommend it to everyone. I give Shadow’s Bane (Dorina Basarab) 5/5 stars.

REVIEW – REAP THE WIND BY KAREN CHANCE

From the New York Times bestselling author of Tempt the Stars comes the latest in the series that’s “well worth getting hooked on”(Fresh Fiction).

You’d think that being chief seer for the supernatural world would come with a few perks. But as Cassie Palmer has learned, being Pythia doesn’t mean you don’t have to do things the hard way. That’s why she finds herself on a rescue mission skipping through time—even though she doesn’t entirely understand her dimension-bending new power.

Rescuing her friend John Pritkin should have been an in-and-out kind of deal, but with the near-immortal mage’s soul lost in time, Cassie has to hunt for it through the ages—with Pritkin’s demon dad in tow. He’s the only one who can reverse Pritkin’s curse, but with the guardians of the timeline dead set on stopping anyone from mucking about, Cassie will have to figure out how to get her friend back without ruffling too many feathers—or causing a world-ending paradox or two….

REAP THE WIND is a roller coaster of a ride! Cassie is the Pythia, but ever since she was chosen, she has no idea what she is doing. Since she  became Pythia, Gods want to return to Earth to wreak havoc, and she has other groups that want to control her. Also she has the other Acolyte’s lead by Myra who wants to kill her so she can be the next Pythia. Right now all she wants to do is save Pritkin and lift he curse. So, to save him she has to go back in time and remove the curse from him. Easy, right? Nothing is easy in Cassie’s world. She will have to time jump many times, and dodge angry Fae and the Pythia of that time. Let’s just say when she gets back to her time, she looks like she was dragged through the mud, more than once. I wonder how she can stay on her feet with all the jumping around, with little sleep and food. If it was me, I would have been killed long ago. Somehow she always wins!! I love this book and series. I give REAP THE WIND 4/5 STARS.
